  1. For those who seem to hate the Thais. Perhaps they rip you off and treat you badly because : (A) You treat them like crap not much better than slave level. (B) You make little effort to learn anything about Thai customs and it really shows. © The majority of expats who have lived here for years can,t even count to five in Thai, without their girlfriend (bar girl- massage girl in tow are totally helpless. (D) You dress like you got your wardrobe out of a dumpster, sex tourists are a fine example. (E) Women walk around half naked down main street or on the beach. This is Thailand not Brazil. (F) You toss your money around, shows you have no idea how much prices should be. (E) You spend the majority of your time in bars and or drunk 24/7. (F) Have zero ability to eat or order in Thai . In the twenty years i have traveled throughout much of Thailand i can,t count less than a hand full i have ever seen eating REAL Thai food. Khao San Road crap food does not count nor foreign restaurants. Treat the Thais with respect and grow a brain of common sense and perhaps you won,t have so many problems. Agree there are rip offs but no Thai is holding a gun to your head. If a baht bus wants 200 baht for a 10 baht fare its your own damn fault for allowing it. Two words you need to learn in Thai. (Mai Ao) no more problems. This is not your country you are a guest here.

I think you will find that there enough locals getting drunk and causing mischief compared to tourists/ex pats. And the girly scene for locals is vastly bigger than what we see available for tourists. In short the locals should sort themselves out before making such comments about tourists.

Britain has its fair share of tourists and we don't ever have to discuss such things. Why? Because we respect others as equals.

Change has to start from within and I think it's that fundamental point that people are trying to call out here. I don't know what your background is but judging from your comments you have a chip on your shoulder so could do with a) chilling out and B) taking off the Thai tinted glasses.

Go to a local party with your better half and you will see the same behaviour from young Thai Lads I've been to dozens of big village parties and there's always drunk locals fighting with each other I have seen Thais stagger through the streets too acting aggressive drunk as monkeys topless and spitting all over the place actually come think about it I've seen more Thais than farangs like this in the past 24 months

    Precisely my point.

  3. Non quality tourists should be as follows: (1) Alcoholics millions here already. Easy to spot. Beer Lao wife beater T-shirts , red faces, dress like total slops. (2) Sex tourists= Alcoholics rid Thailand of these scum and things would greatly improve. (3) FMP Gap Year Idiots can spot them a mile away add (1) and (2) to that list. (4) Foreign Criminals again easy to spot. Better background checks are needed. (5) Hippie broke wannabes Khao San Road /Pai crowd. Thailand needs to copy Bhutan far fewer scum = better tourists and far fewer problems.

Think you will find sex tourists are probably top of the pile as far as quality goes and that's purely down to how much money they spend in the bars and businesses in those areas. Think about how much of that money goes up country to help build houses ect... Take a family of 4 vs 4 sex tourists on a 2 week holiday. Which group do you think will spend more?

Maybe you should holiday elsewhere, like Bhutan.

  4. I love patong and spend a few weeks there every year before moving on elsewhere. Lots of fantastic eating options ranging from street food at banzaan market to decent restaurants all over. Whilst patong beach is nice if you don't plan to get in you will find its well located as a jump off point. Eg from patong you can get a longtail to other nearby beaches like freedom or banana beach. There are also plenty of other beaches in Phuket too which are only ever a taxi drive away.

Yes the taxis, tuk Tuks are expensive but I find if you avoid them and the touts you will have a great time.

  5. I also used tiger line earlier the year traveling from phuket to koh lipe. Took maybe 6 hours. At Trang they stop for a break and there is plenty of food available to buy. BBq, crisps, khao pad eat. The journey itself was ok however I came close to losing my bags on the way over. I don't know what system they use there for organising the bags but it's crap. I would usually go up top for a smoke whenever we stopped at an island and I'm glad I did. When we got to PP I saw my bag had been unloaded and was on the other side. Once we got to lipe I almost lost my bag again. They told me to go ahead in the longtail to the beach and my bags would come later. Once on the beach it seems they started sending the bags with the passengers so I ended up having to get a longtail back to the ferry. Anyway long story short if you use tiger line keep an eye on your stuff. One of the seats was also falling off its hinges.

If I ever had to go there again I would go to lanta first and get the bundhaya speedboat to lipe. Or fly to hat yai and get a speedboat from there.

If you can fly from phuket to hat yai (which I think you can with Thai) I'm sure there will be a boat of some sort to langkawi.

    Good luck

  6. Thankfully I've never seen any such videos on my Facebook feed. I've seen plenty of pics which I wish I hadn't though. There is also a Facebook page I love Thailand cars or something... anyway it's basically videos of road accidents, most are pretty nasty too.

Are they all numb to what we feel when we watch that or is it a religious thing? Ie when we die we get reincarnated ect

  7. The same and far worse happens every weekend in every town or city in the UK. Samui is no different and i would say if anything safer. I can only presume Australians don't get drunk and fight ever ?

Absolute dogshite of the highest order. I was born here and can assure all non Brits reading this that this does not happen over here.

And even if it did, does that excuse the behaviour of the Thais? If something like that happened over here to a tourist police would try to do everything possible to help them. Eg that Malaysian kid who was knocked out and robbed during the London riots.

  8. Guys lets all be realistic here. All the poroblem zones in this world are Muslim dominated countries or are down to Muslims. Iraq, Afghanistan, Israel, Nigeria, Somalia. Even Southern Thailand!!!!!

So don't tell me that it's profiling them. Why can't they just get along with everyone else instead of getting all nuts and blowing stuff up?

  9. Having worked with video production, including overlays for the past 30+ years, I have just one question:- Why would two different cameras have the same overlaid alpha-numeric data errors? (The overlaid data dips in the middle and changes between black & white overlay) Obviously, these video recordings have both been run through the same video overlay retro-actively.

The overlay unit has two problems: a data alignment error & data colour mix between black & white which has been copied on to both video clips. The chances of two separate cameras having one of the the EXACT same problems is so great its virtually impossible. Having both problems?... Well I think its pretty obvious to anyone with half a brain, this is clearly fabricated evidence.

My Son who is in your field practically spat an apple out he was eating on my showing him the photo's, he was gobsmacked.

He mentioned, at that hour being at University why is there no one else around, as anyone would know the place would be bustling with students. He agrees with your interpretation of events. This is NOT good they are digging a bigger hole for themselves.

I hope Scotland Yard have also picked up on that.
