I didn't think any Thai Visa members liked living in Thailand
They're always moaning and whining as though Thailand is the worst country in the world, yet, they still choose to stay here,why ?

Used to get a lot of people asking for money in London back in the 80's in the UK, funnily enough it was usually aggressive alcoholic Scotsmen who were the worst, maybe they were English trying to sound Scottish I don't know, Scottish accents were always more intimidating for some reason, but they used to virtually demand money with menaces from some people, of course if they picked on the wrong person they could get a shock, but shouting in someones face did the trick for them a lot of the time.
I'd just give a Roundhouse Kick ( Non Connecting ) and put an end to the confrontation, then get all the, sorry mate, only joking, no offence meant pal, just looking for some spare change ya ken.

You did the wrong thing, you were caught and you were fined.

I should know better than to reply, but here we go:
I am complaining because, he only started his motorbike to catch the pesky farang, after at least 10 Thai's had committed be same offence right in front of him, without him reacting..........
The names in his book had no relevance to the situation at hand.................
Perhaps he'd already ticketed those Thai's earlier, they only give you one ticket a day, I don't know for all offences, but for helmets it used to be, get stopped again the same day , show the ticket, you're good to go.

I had Black friends like that in the UK, always bleating on about the cops only stopped them because they where Black, how about when they stopped me, was it because I was white ?
Loads of Thais get stopped for motoring offences everyday, in fact if you go on a Highway up country you're less likely to get stopped for a spot check and have your car searched simply because you're a Farang, The Thais have a much tougher time with the cops, we get away with a lot.

Always anazes me that with all the moaning and whining Farangs do on this forum, they still stay here by choice, why?
If it's that bad, why do you stay and suffer, why not just pack up and move on, now I know that doesn't apply to most TV members as most don't live here, but those that do and do nothing but complain, why stay ?
Pretty much the same as coming onto a form full of people you don't like just to bitch and moan at them.
Take your own advice and pack your bags and find a forum where only fluffy clouds and puppy dogs roam.
Berty, Berty, Berty, I don't know a single person on here, all I know is, the majority bitch and moan about Thailand and Thai people at every given opportunity, but I guess that's because they wouldn't dare do it in person to a Thai, ThaiVisa is their safe outlet.

In this case OP is basing his own personal experience and equating it to the entire country. Kind of boogles the mind why his own wife wouldn't listen to her own husband who being a farang and being quite old (from his avatar) which would mean he has vastly more experience compared to the thai workers who i might add are rice farmers according to the OP and thus inferior to him because they are just nameless, brainless, faceless rice farmers who couldn't be better than a farang in the construction business. The most ironic thing is his wife who is thai and whom he married would rather listen to her own countrymen you know those stupid low class rice farmers working in construction over her own husband who with his vast experience and being a farang should definitely know more than them. Then again he chose to actually stay in thailand and marry her and then start a diatribe on the country afterwards. It is kind of like getting yourself a pet chimp and then complaining that the chimp poops itself and doesn't behave like a human should not that i am advocating that thais are in any way related to chimps but rather the odd way some of you farangs complain of the country that you yourself chose to reside in despite knowing or thinking that it's inferior to your own home country but yet still choosing to stay there. That would be akin to moving to say zimbabewe and then complaining hey they don't have nice looking cities and homes and their basic ammenities like electricity, running water always seems to shut down unlike back in my home country where everything worked.

Yes there are many good Thai people, they'll do things many of us Farangs wouldn't attempt, I had a wasp or bees nest in my house garden, my neighbour was straight over the wall when I asked him, up the tree and no more nest, no more honey either, but whatever, I wouldn't have tried it, we had a large snake in our garden the dogs were going crazy, I was being brave standing 20 feet away with a hoe, same guy came over, dispatched the snake in an instant and took it home to cook.
Gotta hand it to the Thais, those guys are very adaptable and creative at times, when I was a Kid I knew just a couple of guys that could play Guitar, most Thai guys I have met can play, and a lot play good, I couldn't build a hut on a Farm that would last more than a few minutes before it fell down, most Thai guys can Build huts that will last for years, my Father in Law climbs trees to get coconuts, he's up there like a Monkey, he's in his 60's ripped body like a 25 year old, I'm younger than him, fit too, but I couldn't do what he does.
Jeez, My Missus is 150cm and 40 Kgs, and I can't do the amount of work she does.
Thai people in General have my total respect.

But in 1977 when I first came to Thailand as a tourist there were still advertisements in Thai newspapers warning university students that unless they returned to register for their classes in the university, they would be suspended from the university.
That was after he events of 1976, when many students "disappeared" after anti government demonstrations when the police stormed the campus to arrest demonstrators.
And my tour guide when I went to the Crocodile farm then "jokingly" warned us not to get to close to the Croc pens as "they liked human flesh these days"
That was "Thainess" in 1977.
Thailand has a lot of history in the last few decades, they prefer not to talk about, especially to tourists.

It destroys that fantasy that has been built up in their head by the bar girls. Especially when the gigglings is done by young shop girls, when the the bar girls have been telling them for years how smart and attractive they are.

Some Farangs just ain't meant to live in another country, the Grumpy one is one of those people, but I bet he tells all his mates back in Farangistan what a great time he's having in Thailand, when in reality he hates it here and spends every waking hour tapping out meaningless whining posts on an anonymous forum, yes Grumpy, you're living the dream mate.

Yes they picked that particular product and reprogrammed the bar codes knowing a whitey would come in and buy it.
If a Thai was buying it they would immediately change the bar code or reduce the price by 50%.

Ah, of course, The worlds governments won't make them illegal for financial and political reasons, they make too much money from the tax of the products and the manufactures of the killers are so powerful and their political donations are so huge, they can't afford to make them illegal, whilst millions suffer.
It's a very dirty business all round, I can drink myself to death or smoke myself to death like Millions of people around the world do, and that's fine, but if I smoke a plant that grows naturally, they'll throw me in Jail and if I've got 500 Gramms of that plant in Singapore they'll kill me, yet I can order 2,000,000 Bottles of Whisky and a Trillion Cigarettes from the same country, open a shop and bring misery to and even kill many many people, young and old, innocent and guilty, and it's all OK, simply because it's taxed and huge companies with lots of political clout produce it.
They are not trying to protect their citizens from the evil of drugs, otherwise Alcohol and Tobacco would be illegal too, those 2 kill millions worldwide every year.
It's all about money, and if they ain't making it, it's against the law, if they're making it, it's legal.
Indonesia has the highest rate of smoking in the world, equal to China. More troublesome is the fact that the cigarettes are 'kretek' made with cloves and tobacco ( typically 36mg cf 18 mg for a full strength western cigarette). Any chance of controlling , reducing, discouraging, ....not a hope....the clove monopoly is owned by the kleptocrats who keep Joko in power.

They are all repent but only because they got caught. Had they still been free they would still be running drugs. No mercy just execute them. Think of how many people are being helped by doing that
Execute all the makers of tobacco products and Alcoholic beverages, think of all the people that will be helped by doing that.
I dont have problem with that but I have not heard of crimes being committed to fuel anyone's drink or tobacco thirst
Plenty of crimes committed by drunks though - driving while drunk and killing someone, and wife-beating, to name but two.
Tell me about it, my Father used to beat my Mother and us Kids when he was drunk, he wasn't a bad man. but the Drug Alcohol made him a monster to us.sober he was ok. I wish it was banned at the time I was a kid.

Not at all, reefer madness wasn't from the 60's it was from the 30's or 40's i believe, and we probably have a fair amount of octogenarians on here who would actually believe that BS, whilst they have stumbled through life in a Alcoholic haze, or a Purple Haze....what are you JT, Purple Haze a 60's flower power child ?.
Or are you a true ThaiVisa member, never touched any mind altering substances, never been to a girly or boy bar, never broken any laws, etc etc.....
