  1. Yes I do have kids but we are not in too much contention. She has not specified yet but I believe that she wants a divorce more than I-I am fully prepaired to walk away from the divorce if she becomes silly.

I just really wanted to know what can she lay claim to

  2. Basically we had to go through the appeals process which was held in Leicester UK-this took months longer meaning that originally her intention was to visit the uk first but because of the delay as she wishes to attend her graduation ceremony she was hoping that she could visit after feb but was not sure of waiting until after feb as the visa has just been granted but not collected as she has to take her passport to the embassy. Thanks

  3. Hello.

My sister in law has just ben granted a family visitors visa to visit the UK however she has a graduation ceremony that she wishes to attend in February.

Her intention was to visit the uk for six months and then return in February but because she has to go through the appeals process it has taken months longer than expexted.

The question I would like to ask is:

    1) What date does her visa start from? The date she gets the visa from the British embassy or the date that she enters the UK

    2) How long can she delay picking it up before the visa is cancelled.

Basically because of the delay in the appeals process she has now found employment andhes to wait until after her graduation ceremony in Febuary but she is concernrd that if she waits too long her visa will be cancelled or the time in the uk reduced.

    Thanks very much....slippery

  4. I am putting this thread on behalf of a friend of mine.

My friend wishes to split up with his wife as she is totally milking him financially but she has said if they ever finish then she will take both herself and the children back to thailand.

This is the only thing that is stopping him. Does anyone know how he can avoid this situation. Can he just do a runner with the children or would that get him into trouble????

    Thanks

  5. Hello All.

I am posting this thread as I have some very serious questions

Basically we have been living in Yorkshire and I have been very silly in believing that my wife would be faithfull. I have recently found out that my wife has been having numerous relationships behind my back. We have just split up this week and she moved out from my house property.

Can you please advise if she has to leave the country now as I believe or can she stay until her 2 year visa will expire as I will not sign her visa form to say we are still a couple.

    You advice will be appreciated

    Thank You..leprechaun

  6. Hi all

I was wondering if it is possible to get an infants passport fron the birmingham consulate in the uk.

I was considering travelling to london Embassy but if we could go to birmingham as we live in Northants it would be much easier to find and park etc.

Any idea how long it takes to actually receive the passport?

    Many thanks Lepechaun

  7. Hiya all.

    Happpy new year.

I need to go to the Thai embasy in london to register the birth of our baby and to get a thai passport and was wondering the best way to go. I would prefer to drive but don't know this area of London so was wondering if it would be easy to park in this area.

Anyone that has already been to the Thai embassy in london by car could you please advise.

    Thanks Leprechaun

  8. Hiya....

I've recently returned to living in the UK and although I had an amazing time whilst living in Thailand I found it necessary to return to the UK so that I could financially support my family.

Since returning to blighty I have returned to my previous employment in the Logistics sector with a good salary, a company car provided and presently in the middle of purchasing a 5 bed detached property in a new housing estate.

To be honest life can't get any better for both me and my family.

I found that the meagre Thai salary didn't even come close to supporting my family and I wasn't entirely happy with not being able to provide the basics for my wife and baby, ie car, house etc so it was only a matter of time before a decision, rather reluctantly at the time had to be made to return to the UK.

The question that I am asking is do you feel that you can live in Thailand for any length of time or are you on a financial time bomb as I was, living beyond your means and borrowing from savings.

  9. I have phoned Satellite Installation companies in the UK and they can connect me to satellite Hotbird 4 but they offer two packages - Dhammas GB and Thai TV Global. What TV networks can I receive on these two packages?

    Thanks Leprechaun.,,,,,,,

  10. Again your comments are contradictive. I said my previous post that there was a complete absence of any communication between the head of department and the teachers and then you response is to state that it was my own fault for know knowing when the exams were taking place. Just read between the lines, a teacher, irrelevant who it may be, is not informed when the exams are and it’s their own fault for not being informed. Is this Scottish logic????

    Obvious communication breakdown.

You then say that the boss is the most straight talking people you have worked under and welcome to Thailand. Here you have two opposites. Either the boss is informative (incorrect) or welcome to Thailand but Jockstar you can’t have both.

I come from the management field where obvious lapses in common sense are acted upon immediately and communication is one of the key elements of the business. Once a month we used to have a meeting to discuss any difficulties that arose during the previous month.

This is so god ###### basic. And be honest Education in Thailand is a business.

Whatever you think I do care about the kids, one of the reasons why I left. I was not willing to stand by and watch the children learn in a ‘willy nilly’ atmosphere. The school has great potential but it has no system.

You like the boss because you can go home early, she’s easy on you, allows you a full week off to make 3 day visa runs but try to implement obvious changes that will be better for the children, almost impossible. You dislike me leaving, not because you’re concerned about the students but because temporarily you have an extra workload.

The boss is not all bad, she has some very good traits but is stubborn, her decision is final as is the right of any boss but we are not discussing manufacturing of some product or other. We are talking about the future of the children that you claim to care for but are willing to defend the one person that can improve their future.

Yes, I care for the children, greatly, more than you comprehend. Don’t try to make me out to be some ogre.

Finally, I reiliterate what I said earlier.

You are not a teacher. Claim to be otherwise you are more of a fool than I thought. You, a non degree holder, with only a two week British Council teaching certificate. I ask you again where are your qualifications?

You say that you’re respected as a teacher. I think not, try to teach in Canada, UK America or ant western country and you would be laughed at.

You are only respected as you call it (if respect means people slagging you off as soon as your back is turned) by those in exactly the same boat as you.

Lastly, I have been honest in all aspects. I gave the boss numerous opportunities to make the changes I felt were necessary. These changes weren’t implemented so eventually I left. I would have preferred my departure to be less dramatic but feel that I have done the right thing. I would have never brought this subject into the open forum for others to read had you not placed your original posting Jockstar. However bad the school is I believe greatly in confidentiality.

As you know we’re moving back to the UK shortly.

Despite our differences, Good Luck to you and your ‘other half’ and the best of luck in Australia.

    Byee for now.

  11. Oh Jockstrap, you disappoint me. What took you so long to post this thread in response to me leaving the school.

Perhaps you needed Dutch courage as normal and needed to wait until you returned from another drinking session. Make sure you go to school and not have more alcohol induced ‘sick’ days off.

I think that you need to get you facts straight before you begin slandering on a public forum. What a fool you make yourself out to be, haven’t you learn by now?

People in glass houses don’t throw stones.

This means if you are working here illegally, with no degree you don’t belong here, you’re a fake. You claim to be a teacher but the reality of the situation is this-you’re not a teacher, never will be. You don’t even possess basic education let alone any knowledge to educate others with.

    Now lets address the facts…………………………..

I left the school for a number of reasons. It was the system or the lack of it, a complete lack of any communication between the head of Department (someone who should know better) and the teachers. Often we would have exams and it would be the students that would inform the teachers when the exams would be taking place. The teachers were always the last to know. If this sounds like a professionally run school who cares about the students think again. How can you provide the students with a decent education when everything is done on a whim. Plan properly liaise with your staff inform them and then they can plan and organize better, thus resulting in better teaching.

You said that I ranted and raved at the boss. I had for many months complained about different elements to teaching at the school and finally after none of these changes had been implemented I decided that it would be best to vote with my feet. I informed her of all the reasons why I decided to leave, most of which she could have easily changed for the betterment of the students. As always she failed to listen. Her priority is not education but drama. Once a year she holds a musical show on stage which takes a lot of work, the final result is commendable but in order to achieve these results for moths students are removed from the is classroom so that they can practice singing songs. Give the students useful and practical education. They can’t tell the time but who cares; they can sing ‘do re mi’!!!

The reasons that I left is that I care about the students too much, I get involved emotionally and I can see areas of improvement that aren’t being implemented where the children would benefit greatly.

I judge a school and the teachers by this simple question.

Would you put you own child in the school or not?

I think you know the answer.

I’ll leave it at that for now

  12. Hi all.

My 6 month old son was born here in Thailand and possesses both a Thai and British passport. I'm taking my family back to the UK mid March and was wondering what passport to exit Thailand on and what passport to enter the UK on.

I was going to use the Thai passport for my son to leave Thailand on and the British passport to enter the UK on. Is this normal practice?

The reason for this is so that the Thai authorities don't ask too many questions at passport control regarding reasons why my son does not have an entry stamp in his British passport (he was born in BKK)

We will be traveling with relevant birth certificates but don't really wish to complicate matters more than necessary.
