  1. Other than just boxing lessons, does anyone know of a boxing camp around chiang rai? my brother is coming out for a visit and he'd really like to try his hand at some fights. Possibly somethings in the hills?

  2. haha yeah i've thought about it for sure. where is this by the way? the reason i want something for the yard is because i can't find any local playgrounds! but it gets so hot during the day i can kind of understand.

I think Scea could be right. Much of the stuff you see around, looks like it was fabricated in some small shop and not mass produced to factory specs.wink.png This place obviously get a lot of use.biggrin.png

  3. I'm looking for a swingset, or possibly some outdoor toys for the yard. I've seen the shop at central, and another shop on the super highway in rimkok. But they just have expensive new plastic toys. I'm looking for more oldschool stuff, preferably second hand if anyone knows of some? any help would be very much appreciated! thank you:)

  4. you can catch the big green bus, or the small green minibus. the will say chiang rai-mae sai. They run every half hour or so, and it can take up to 30 minutes to get to the university. it all depends. If there aren't many people on the bus at first, sometimes they will wait longer until it leaves. If you have to be there at a certain time then I would suggest taking a taxi, or giving yourself plenty of time. I think the bus costs around 20-25 baht. You can also flag down a sawng taeo (i think they're the red ones). Either way, just tell the driver you want to get off at Mae Fah Luang. At the bottom of the entrance road to the university you can catch another sawng taeo, (green colour i think) 10 baht. There are many different buildings that it can drop you off at so you might want to know where it is you need to go. Campus is quite large.

  5. I have one which is near new as my kids didn't like it and can sell it to you for 500 baht + postage. I can send you a pic if you want. I think the mount alone cost me 1,500 from Probike Lumpini.

yeah i'd love to see a pic please. are you in bangkok and would need to send it?

  6. Hi I'm trying to find a bicycle seat for my 1.5 yr old. I would love to find a front mounting seat but the only ones i have found were for the rear , and rather pricey. The man at the shop town said you can't find the front seats in thailand. ordering online is also very expensive. i'd settle for a rear seat, but wondering if anyone knows where to find a good reasonably priced one, or has one they don't use anymore to sell? thanks for your help:)

  7. Hey Does anyone know where is a good place to buy a sewing machine in Chiang Rai? And fabric/textiles and accessories aswell....

I live 1/2 hr drive from Chiang Rai town, and with little time to spare it is hard to find the right shops. It would be nice to know exactly where i'm headed:) I'm totally up for used equipment also, so if anyone has suggestions fire away please!

  8. Has anyone been to the Phuket Prison to visit an inmate? When can you visit? And how do you arrange a 'contact' visit where family can sit together instead of looking through glass? Anyone know?

    thanks for your help

  9. I am a little concerned about the travel on the super highway, harry. The only problem is that I haven't been able to find a preschool in that area. Where or how should I be looking? I have looked on at the lanna realty website, as well as other realty websites and I will keep my eyes out.

I am looking for a place to live under 8000THB. Looking through the websites I have found many places from 2500-5000THB(ideal), whic keeps my hopes up. I just need to figure out the other details. I am open to any suggestions anyone may have, and definately willing to consider boarding with a farang family or taking a nanny. So my arms are open to any words of wisdom from my fellow farangs of Chiang Rai!

  10. Hi All! I will be moving to Chiang Rai this April/May to study at Mae Fah Luang University. I need to live off campus as I have a small child, and was thinking of trying to find a place in Wiang district because it is close to everything including daycare facilities for my son. I realize that the University is quite far outside of town, and that I will need reliable transportation to and from. Does anyone know if there is a regular bus that goes to the university from town? I am just trying to see my other options before needing to rent a bike to take everyday.

Also, should I try and find a place to stay before I arrive, or when I arrive? Can anyone suggest a good way to find a decent home to rent not over 5000baht?

    Thanks for your help!
