  1. Already reduced from 12. Like I said, there are some extras.
  2. Well, there are a few extras like expensive case, lots of fans and expensive power unit.
  3. My wife’s nephew is selling a desktop. I’ve been thinking of buying a new one for some time. He has obviously used is for “gaming” I do not play computer games. At 10,000 Bht is it a good buy? Or should I invest in a new machine? Any advice gratefully received. These are the specifications.
  4. Thanks for these replies, unfortunately I'll only be there Thursday Friday Saturday. Are there any local clinics I could pop into?
  5. I have had a spot for some time which will not heal. I went to a local village doctor who said it was an allergy and gave me some cream. It has not improved. I’m concerned it might be a carcinoma. I shall be in Pattaya for a few days this week. Can anybody suggest a reliable Doctor where I might get a second opinion?
  6. Yes I did. In any normal country that would be enough but.......
  7. Anybody else had a problem with a 90 day report by post lately? I’ve been doing it for 4 years without any previous problems. Usually sent back within a week. I sent mine off on May 3 (due May 14) and am still waiting for reply. Looking at the calendar it would appear that they have “worked” approximately 6 days since May 3. I am assuming that if they have somehow mislaid it, it will be my fault.
  8. Many thanks for these replies. It’s good to know that Rawai is still the place to go. I’ll pass the information on.
  9. A friend of mine (Vietnamese with Chinese boyfriend) is planning a short break in Phuket in July. She knows I used to live there so asked me for advice on places to stay etc. Trouble is, I haven’t lived there for 10 years. She wants to do some diving and eat good Thai food. I recommended Rawai as a place to stay. Is that still a good option? What’s the best way to get from the airport to Rawai beach? I’ll be grateful for any advice so that I can pass it on.
  10. Thanks for your reply which I've only just seen. I'll give it a try next month. But why they need to make it so complicated escapes me. Paying a utility bill via your bank account in the same country would seem to be the most simple and obvious service any bank could offer.
  11. 1 of the reasons I originally went with Bangkok Bank was because there telephone help service was very good. That was 18 years ago. Now you have absolutely no no chance of actually speaking to anybody human. The last time I sent them an email enquiry, I did get a reply but it was about 2 weeks later. Nevertheless I will send another one to them on this topic and post the details if I manage to get a reply before the end of the decade.
  12. I finally managed to pay it by downloading the PEA app and entering far too many personal details with the possible exception of my inside leg measurement. It's extremely cumbersome and it would have been just as easy to go to the 711 later this evening. It looks like direct debit is by far the best way to do it but Bangkok Bank seems to want to make that difficult as well
  13. I tried to set up direct debit but it requires a "tax ID." I tried various numbers on my electricity bill but none of them were recognised.
  14. Unfortunately my local Kasikorn will not allow foreigners to open accounts. Unless you have a work permit! Idiots.
  15. Yes I was afraid it might be as complex as that, which is why I avoid using any Thai apps. From my experience, they are either ridiculously complicated or completely unusable. I'll have a look at true money.
  16. Thanks for the contributions. I've looked into them all and still none the wiser. The list of payees on the Bangkok Bank website is huge, covering just about every possibility including court fines but with the glaring omission of the PEA. So, as sammieuk1 suggests its 7/11 as before.
  17. Thanks for your reply. No, I don't use the Bangkok Bank app. I pay my other bills on the computer. I just don't understand why something as obvious as the electricity authority is not listed.
  18. Not sure if this is the right forum. But the question is simple, how do I pay my electricity bill online? I use Bangkok Bank and the Provincial Electrical Authority (PEA) does not appear to be listed. Any help will be gratefully accepted.
  19. The letter I have is a blank form for me to fill in the details, so I guess the date could be anything you like.
  20. Is it feasible to do my Visa extension and transfer to new passport on the same day? Grateful for any advice from those who've had experience of this.
  21. I got my new UK passport last week. How soon do I need to visit immigration to transfer my Visa details for the new passport? My Visa extension is not due until early January. So I don't really want to go to immigration before that.
  22. On a similar topic. I got my new passport last week and they gave me the transfer letter. How long does it take to transfer these details the new passport? My Visa extension is not due until early January. Would it be better to get the transfer done in advance of my Visa extension or do it all on the same day?
  23. I confessed right at the beginning that I know nothing about electricity, so I have no intention of trying to fix it myself. I like the idea of any sort of technician in Thailand who "knows what he's doing" I've been looking for one of those for years. An "electrician" changed this particular trip switch about six months ago.
  24. Okay I think I understand. Many thanks for everybody's explanations. It tripped out last night (blue button popped out and main switches were down) for no apparent reason and when I tried to reset it the switch would not stay up. So what might cause this (apart from the toaster) and what is the correct way to reset it? I should add that this has happened on two occasions in the last 10 days. Once when we were asleep and the fan stopped working. And again last night when I was cooking dinner. I get that using an oven and other appliances might cause an overload but not in the middle of the night with only two fans going.
