You can change jobs once your application is locked in.  You can also switch from an extension of stay based on employment to an extension of stay based on waiting for PR.  I looked into this very carefully and discussed several times with the staff at counter D last year as I was considering doing this.

For the latter, in a nutshell you must:

    • Resign
    • Get the letter from your employer notifying your employment has ended
    • In the space of one day take that letter to get your extension of stay based on employment cancelled and then go get a new extension of stay issued by counter D.  In my case this would have meant a visit to Chamchuri square and Chaeng Watthana.  Both steps must be done on the same day or you're toast.

In the end I stuck with the same employer and it looks like I'll get my PR book next week.  Will consider my options after that  Staying with the same employer is obviously the simplest but changes are possible - as always consult your friendly Chaeng Watthana counter D staff :)

Is this also the case if you're changing employers?  I find myself in a similar situation, but will be changing jobs.  Can I just go to my local office with new application and letter from employer?  Does this also have to be on the same day, or different days?  Or do I still need to go to Chang Wattana?

  2. I've just received my SCB credit card today, and when I follow the instructions to activate the card, I'm asked for a seven digit phone code. Does anyone know where to get that from? I've tried the last seven of my phone number, but that didn't work. I'v also called and asked customer service without any success. Might have to make the trip back to the bank to see if they can do it.

  3. I'm looking for something similar to the photo below, a 4 post open server rack, 12U - 15U would be ideal - any taller would be too tall. I'm not looking for the 2 post open, or the 4 post with cabinet enclosure that seem to be available here.

This seems to be available outside the country, but shipping is cost prohibitive. Wondering if anyone knows where I can find one in this style in Thailand?

  4. Does anybody have the contact info for a guy named Wolfgang that does the roast pigs, ducks, chickens, etc? It is the one with the enclosed oven type grill. I have a photo, will post it if I can find it.

I'm looking for this guy particular, not any of the other ones that roast them on an open spit. Thanks for any help.

  5. Hi all, I'm looking for a taxi (not a rental car) with driver to drive one passenger from Koh Samui to Songkhla. Meter taxis, private cars or companies are OK as long as the cars are in reasonable condition.

I'm not looking for a bus or anything else, just a car, preferably with an all in rate including the ferry crossing.

Any contacts with phone numbers or email address are appreciated.

  6. Just did this in Singapore about two weeks ago (single entry Non-Imm B. Can confirm that they did want every single item on the Non-Imm B list posted on their website. A LOI alone will not suffice. They went through it all page by page, but once they were sure it was all there it was easy. Picked up the visa the next afternoon.

There was a group of four guys that had their B visas approved but were only given single entry when they had requested multiples. Don't know how that ended up as I picked up my passport and left before theirs had been settled.

  7. Siriam, please update this thread once you've been to KL as I'm thinking about a trip down that way myself soon.

As promised here I am with my report.

This morning I was there 1 hour before they open, I was the first to apply.

I had all the paperwork they required including the proof of the 400k, which is the new requirement instead of 100k.

Regardless the lady in charge asked me why this time I did not apply for the year extension in Thailand, I told her that I just got the money on my account while for apply they need to be there at least 2 months.

Having learned that, she wanted to give me just 1 entry claiming that after 90 days I would have be entitled to apply for the year extension contacting the immigration office.

I insisted telling her that since I'm planning to travel a lot in/out Thailand, which is true, and since I was already there, I would prefer apply for the multi-entry.

Eventually I convinced her and I paid 550 ringgit accordingly.

Until I'll have the passport in my hands on Monday I cannot be 100% sure, but I'm pretty confident that I'll get what I asked for.

I believe they want somehow force us to apply for extensions in Thailand.

    Till the next... Bye!

The new requirement for 400,000 Baht, does that now have to be in a Thai bank or can it still be in a foreign bank as before?

Seems it must be in a Thai bank only.

    UPDATE : JUNE 2013

As from this month being June 2013 the Thai Embassy in Malaysia has again changed the rules for the multiple entry “O” visa. You now need to show 400,000 THB in a Thai bank account in order to obtain a Thai Marriage Visa (multiple entry) 12 month visa.

  8. Thanks for that. I have just posted in a KL thread as well, but I'll ask here anyways. What about MULTI entry in Kuala Lumpur? Reason is I have to fly there for work anyways in September, don't want to make another trip to Laos or Cambodia if not absolutely necessary.

ps, I've just looked at flights to Savanakhet. Is there really only one airline flying there?
