    Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) opened an exhibition today (Saturday), to showcase the transformation of Chong Nonsi Canal, in Bangkok’s Sathorn district, into a new kind of park, floating on the canal.

    Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) opened an exhibition today (Saturday), to showcase the transformation of Chong Nonsi Canal, in Bangkok’s Sathorn district, into a new kind of park, floating on the canal.

     

    The exhibition, which features music shows, a model of the park project, the story of the rehabilitation of the canal and light-decorated trees, will last until January 5th.

     

    BMA Spokesman Pongsakorn Kwanmuang said that the public space is just a fraction of the project to change the landscape of the canal into another landmark, to beautify the city and to provide another recreation area.

     

    The project is consists of the activity and skywalk zones and a third zone to connect the park with the BRT bus service system, which runs parallel to the canal.

  3. Utility pole in footbridge in Sattahip district finally removed

    Workers from the local electricity authority and a construction company removed a utility pole from a footbridge under construction today (Saturday), in front of a shopping mall in the Sattahip district of Thailand’s Chon Buri province.

  4. Thailand demands ฿1.8bn from company for toxic waste discharge

    Thailand’s Pollution Control Department (PCD) is demanding 1.8 billion baht in compensation from a private company for environmental damage allegedly caused by toxic chemicals discharged from its factory, located at the 304 Industrial Park in Phanom Sarakham district of the eastern province of Chachoengsao.

    Two suspected southern insurgents were shot dead by Thai government forces during a siege at a house in Thung Yang Daeng district of the restive southern province of Pattani on Friday.

     

    A combined force of army troops, police and paramilitary rangers was rushed to Village 3 in Paku sub-district, after they received a tipoff that a small group of suspected insurgents were sheltering in a house there.

     

    The government forces laid siege to the house and brought with them community and religious leaders, to try to convince the suspected insurgents to surrender and avoid bloodshed.

    Thailand on Sunday (Dec 19) recorded 2,899 new COVID-19 cases, 4,389 recoveries and 22 deaths.

     

    Sunday's caseload is the lowest reported in Thailand more than than six months. 

     

    Since April 1, the start of the so-called third wave, Thailand has reported 2,162,665 cases and 2,100,932 recoveries.

     

    Meanwhile, vaccinations in Thailand continue to be administered at a significant rate. 

     

    As of Friday (Dec 17), 99.38 million vaccine doses had been administered in Thailand. 

     

    To date, approximately 70 percent of the population have received one dose of a vaccine, while 61.4 percent of the population have received two vaccine doses.
