  1. So True ..Karon Beach would have to Rate as one of the most Dangerous , with some Incredible Rips .

Its Interesting I had 2 groups of friends last year Stay at Karon ..When I warned them to be careful of the Beach they Appeared Shocked , I explained it was certainly a beautiful area , but was Extremely dangerous ( And it is ) ..

Around Monsoon you want to be even more than a competant swimmer .. You need to be extremely Calm , and know how to Handle a Rip . Even with Australians , and really unless they are experienced Surfers , or Beach Life Savers , these extremely quick RIPS , can just destroy emotionally as pannick sets in . First rule is to understand the Danger ...

Many Have Died at Karon ..Including reasonably recently the Aussie Nurse swimming at Night . Good Surf breaks at times ..But know your stuff ..Or Else , very few warning , although the beach is often Closed ..Most Ignore .

Crap indeed ! I was once swept off Karon Beach so far out that I could only just see the island, literally miles, in a rip that was one of the fastest I have ever experienced. Somehow I managed to get back, to be told by a local that sometimes 2 or 3 people a DAY were drowned off this beach, particularly later in the year in the monsoon season !

The biggest cause of death to foreigners in the resort was drowning however, with eight deaths in 2012.

LOL! What a load of crap! Nice reporting! There were many more than eight deaths by drowning on Phuket in 2012. And I'm quite positive there were many more than eight foreigners killed in traffic accidents in 2012 as well. Off the top of my head I can think of more. There have been no official lists of foreigner deaths by drowning or vehicle accidents for almost one year now. According to a local news source there has been no Public Health updates have been made available since April 2012 from the local Phuket Government. Not surprising. It might damage Phuket's shining image as the "pearl of the Andaman." LOL!
  2. My nephew is 23, he has 2 bachelors, 2 masters and is doing a Phd, all chemistry and physics related, I might add.

On the article, typical misogynistic drivel trying once again to abrogate responsibility. Then, to top this, TV members adding their own narrow minded views as to the woman's appearance.

A bachelors degree takes 4 years. A masters degree takes two years. 2 bachelors, 2 master at 23. Must have started at a young age. Smart fellow.

Im asuming that when one so young has so Many Degrees ..Part of this would be achieved via mutual recognition .

Virtually impossible in the Australian System as " They want the Money " ..The longer you take the better . But " yes " agreed smart young man , if all that completed at 23 years .

  3. Corruption is endemic in all walks of Thai life. I wouldnt have any medical procedure done except as a last resort.

Paramedics in proper countries are better qualified than the average thai doctor and at least they dont buy their qualification.

Sorry ... But the second line is simply incorrect , there are some incredible Doctors and surgeons here , there qualification are not purchased . Id have great faith in a Thai GP equivilient , rather than an Aussie GP . Most have excellent knowledge and skills .

  4. Behind Every Good Man ..There is a Great Woman ???

I read that Story with disbelif , She is either extremely motivated , or knows who to pay ..With all she seems to Have Done ..And all that Study ?

Its hard to believe these Degrees were actually completed .

But , I cant quite see what is being said here .... That ..She was so motivated she pushed him to Corrumption ? . Its good that they now seem to have to explain the various Assets involved in a Portfolio . Bit like proceeds to Crime in Australia .

However when Corrumption is Widespread , you seem to have to really upset the Wrong person before they just single you out .

When I first started reading I thought it was going to be her " Outting " her husband in Some way , But seems like she enjoyed the benefits also , she certainly appears well Fed , and a little " Work ' wouldn't have gone astray with plenty of funds to Spend .

  5. Looks very much like a Guy who went Ballistic in a Bangkok hotel I was staying in ( 690 Barht per night ) , when he realised the Water he was drinking In Room was not the " Free " water , 150 Barht per bottle X 2 , meant he could of stayed in a much better place .

The guy here was obviously drugged , really these Eastern Europeans do have far too much of a presence all around the place these days ..Let far too many in . And speaking generally , they have the most horrendous nature , and certainly make their fair share of Trouble .

  6. As you all have aptly showed, being prejudice against an overweight person is okay, because you are all perfect. Grow up.

not prejudice against overweight person, just scared of large breasts

    Stout debate:

Brilliant ..and So very True ..

Bottom Line = Pom Poy mach mach , with massive sagging Breasts ..Lets cut the B/S and call it like it is .

If Pom Poy ..So Be it ..... YUK !

  7. legitimate bikers

    <deleted> is a legitimate biker...

Oh....and great strategy BiB...Let the Bangkok dentists and surgeons riding their Harleys down to Phuket for bike week "keep an eye" on some of the most organised and notoriously violent criminals on the planet.

    Morons...

Stayed tuned for the Thai version of Australia's Milperra Massacre coming to Bangla Road shortly.

    http://en.wikipedia....lperra_massacre

Listen closely everyone I will tell you again in simple terms:

Australian bikie gangs are here to manufacture and peddle Ice.

There is a lot more violence on the horizon as rival gangs fight for control of the market.

Ha ha ha ha .... I reckon a Legit Biker , is an Old Bloke with a Harley ..who doesn't do too many drugs these days ..But still enjoys the Tittie Parties !

  8. Hmmmm ..Sure .and the Motorbike cost 1,000,000 Barht ? ... Nice money in Tattoo's ..And walking around with a GUN ??

Well ..that should like a very sensible individual . Life is over in Phuket anyhow .

Assuming the rumours of the motorbike loan are accurate, A motorbike could easily be worth 1 000 000 THB with interest added to the original loan being rumoured. Of all the business ventures available to expats in Phuket, Tattoos are good money. Life isn't over in Phuket. History proves that the island has a way of surviving and moving forward.

Yes Well .............. True easy to Spend a Mill , BUT the original cost was no where near this figure , so you can assume the barht was not Leant for " Free " ..this is why the guy owed a Mill .

Normal and correct standover tactics ?? that we should just accept from an aussie in Phuket ?? One certainly hopes not .

I also like to think the Island has a Great Future , But its future would be far better with the likes of this guy not on the Shores . Certainly it would be a Safer place ..Why would he possibly be carrying a Gun ??

The report I read mentioned that it was a loan that had been dishonoured and with interest was now at the said amount. I don't know if there is normal and correct standover tactics. I don't think standover men have a code of practice. I have no idea why he was carrying a gun.

Well , not that I know ..But if I were giving advice I would say .. 1 . Hire another 2 . Be Discreet 3 . Dont be caught with firearms

Not sure that there is a handbook , but a variation on the above May be a wise move .

Maybe 4 is .... " Dont Spray bullets and shoot an innoccent bystander " ..Letting the story become world News . Not really very well thought out . Im sure he made great money out of Tattoos ..But ..Main Source of Income ?? who knows !

  9. I gave up wearing Kratindaeng singlets since the Beer Chang singlets come on the market. So much more classy. rolleyes.gif

Why does everyone keep calling them singlets??? The correct term is wife beater shirt........clap2.gifclap2.gif

    It's us "single" guys. rolleyes.gif

The Jackie Howe blue Bonds singlet is the one stereotyped "the Wife Beater". Chang, Red Bull, Singha and any other singlet are awesome and commonly worn by tourists in Phuket purely because its hot and you can go and buy a new one when you have drenched your old one in sweat. They are conveniently located within 5 metres from any bar in OTOP for 150 baht too...biggrin.pngthumbsup.gif

200 Barht ..For the intoxicated Farang biggrin.png

  10. the Bogan is remarkably well travelled.

Let's see how many Bogan's are out and about when Australian residential property crashes in value by more than 40 percent.

Nothing curtails travel plans like negative equity on a half million dollar mortgage...

Its one area in which a ridiculously regulated Industry misses the " Super Highes " but avoids Crashes . There is absolutely No Way you will see a 40% fall in Australian residential ..Except maybe in a West Australian Mining Town ..For we simply never reach those Highes . What you Should see ( I wish ) is a deline in development , but prices wont fall ..No bargains here at all , and clearance Rates are still at the Historical " Norm " . I'd love to pick up something Bayside Melbourne , but thats never going to happen .

You wont see the " High " highs ..but you wont see Crashes either ..and you wont see 40 % Highs ...

Its completely irrelevant really ... I doubt this guys owns a house . Property wise , I will always rent in Thailand ..and If I wished to invest it would certainly be in Australian , Melbourne Bayside .

Queensland and Western Australia are far more Volitile ..Higher Highs ..Lower Lows . You will be seeing Aussie Bogans everywhere , but its NOT driven by property , its driven by the strength of the AUD $$$$ .

  11. Hmmmm ..Sure .and the Motorbike cost 1,000,000 Barht ? ... Nice money in Tattoo's ..And walking around with a GUN ??

  12. I personally know 1 of the alleged shooters and I have always known him to be a decent sensible guy. I have no idea what has happened and from the reports I am reading neither do many people including the media and police. I love watching the ensuing speculation, twisted explanations and general tripe start to emerge from forum members that is par for the course when something is posted on here about Phuket. Quality entertainment.clap2.gif

A 32 year old and a 26 year old making a living in Phuket from doing tattoos. Mmmmmmmmm, really.

Will you be visiting him in gaol, since he's a "decent and sensible guy?"

I'd visit him if he went to gaol. Not a problem. Lets not go overboard though. Even if he is charged and even if he does go to court, who is to say he will go to gaol? We are talking about Thailand.

Yes, you are right, and this why Phuket has the crime problem it has today.

Hmmmm ..Sure .and the Motorbike cost 1,000,000 Barht ? ... Nice money in Tattoo's ..And walking around with a GUN ??

Well ..that should like a very sensible individual . Life is over in Phuket anyhow .

  13. This Guy just makes you Ashamed to be an Australian . I think it fair to Say Loan Sharking , intimidation , and Im guessing a Rather HOT temper . Well Boy , your life has turned upside down by this Action , If you are going to Take on this kind of business within Asia , and think its Okey to Carry around a Gun ..... For attempted Murder , they will do their time in Thailand .

Utterly disgraceful that Australians like this are living in Phuket ..Go Back to where you came from .." If you Can " ..In 10 years . He wont get convicted of the major Charge of Course .

  14. Well , although not policed in Many Many places , I think its a good idea and a good starting point , and even some success will be good success . When I first started coming to Bangkok I remember well all the cigarette smoke ..Although far from ideal , it has improved a Lot , certainly over the last 5 years .

You wont stop here those who are determined , Thats just the way it is ..But it sends a message .

As an Australian , I think our problem with alcohol are far worse . We encourage the young to get plastered , we open night clubs ALL night , and they get pissed before they even get there . We have a Sporting culture that is Sponsored by Alcohol companies , Including the current Australian Open tennis ( Jacobs Creek ) . Most of the major drinking problems I see here are Farangs , either on Sex tours , or with Nothing to Do .

Therefore I would argue " Those in Glass Houses " ........ And when Im Tea Total myself , I can then be critical of Others .

Its a good Stepping Stone , and hopefully its enhanced and enforced , It will do a Lot of good ..BUT , there will always be around regulation , things take time to change .

  15. 1,000 Barht fine ..Seriously what an absolute Joke . Surely there are no stupid Foreigners left who other than the Value that is Shown on the Meter ? I can understand her difficulty , getting a Cab in the evening from Ram Impra to Asok Sky train station takes an effort and this is quite a resonable Fare ...Rarely will the first Cab take men , generally it takes 3 or 4 Goes .quite incredible really . I never even bother with Shorter , as they just never say " Yes " ..So I just walk .

But this " punishment " will mean absolutely nothing and as others have said he basically assalted her .

  16. Terrible News RIP young man .

I can only but agree that its incredibly important not to have conflict with the locals , you just never know who is carrying a gun these days , no matter where you may be . You may recall on the previous thread we discussed ..Whats the chance of no guns deaths prior to New year ??

This young man has come for a holiday of fun , maybe with a girlfriend , yet he will return home in a Wooden box and he " was " 23 years Old , its an absolute Tradegy . Thailand has indeed become a VERY dangerous place , and the word really needs to get out .

  17. According to the redneck gun fanatics the more people packing heat the safer it is. By their reckoning Pataya must be the safest place in Thailand. Might take the family there for holidays.

In a twisted way you are correct. If only the shooter had a gun, he would have gotten away, and this would have been simply another unsolved murder here. Instead look at the actual result, the shooter is lying in a pool of blood with a bunch of bullets in him. Looks to me like street justice performed perfectly.....

You say, if only the shooter had a gun.......

What was he shooting if not a gun? Don't think we'd be referring to him as the shooter if he had no gun.

Yes .......... Like the Wonderful quote from the Gun Loby over the Recent Shootings ..............

" Sob Sob ..Tearful responce " ........ " The Only thing standing between a BAD GUY with a Gun ..... Is a GOOD GUY with a gun " ..lol lol lol lol . The world listened in amasement to this horrendous justification for Guns .

And Yes , unfortunately its very relevant to this topic , for in certain areas Thailand has followed the USA with more than just Hotmail . Its pretty dam simple ...The Less guns in the entire system the Better , Its not rocket Science .

  18. Never got that exciting when it was the old Fawlty Towers wink.png

Ha ha! Yes i remember the soi back then, a very quiet Soi indeed. The place has changed so much over the years; pity really. Still, i find it strange that Thais would be drinking in Go Go bars that would usually be frequented by Farangs. I always thought they stuck to the snooker halls and such and stayed clear of farang joints.

    CCFC1

I think thats exactly correct , which is quite frigtening . Who would know what this was over ?? could even be really minor . Farang areas , thai never bothered frequenting .

  19. Are there really so many gun owners on the soi's in Pattaya, that a shoot out can take place? Just another day in paradise.

Im not sure it matters so much which Soi , the problem is the Guns . Unfortunately ( And this was never great ) , but it appears to have become a lot worse . The tourist basically has no idea about this stuff , and its really jst good luck that more have not been hurt .

The problem really is they have follwed the USA with more than just " hotmail " ..Too many would - be 's , getting more and more guns .

And Yes , for those who take girls from Pattaya , any part of it ..Be beyond careful , the danger has really hit a new level , and certainly has " unofficial " and possibly " Official " gun ownership rises , you can pretty much expect more fatal shootings .

What Odds will you give me for NO fatal shootings of any description prior to New Years ?? The element of danger was always " Be alert " .. but its moved well beyond this ..especially when this is happening at 5 pm , be Alert ..and make sure you Never stand out , would be my advice .
