I was checking the cost of hotels in Bangkok. It appears that the prices are going up, just when there is a drop in tourism.
This is the stupid Thai way: When business is bad, raise prices. Just more proof that they are not just uneducated but plain stupid.
Reminds me when I did a Low season Internet booking in low season from a thai Web site , with a thai debit card .
700 Barht per night for two with the Full thumping breakfast , Pretty good . There were 4 rooms only occupied ..
Was using the nett at the Front , This European guy and his friend come is as Walk - ins ..How much you charge per night ?
he asks the Girl ..1800 Barht Sir ! needless to say , he and his mate walked off and stayed elsewhere . Surely in this
circumstance you'd try and grab the Booking ?
It just seems that this is often the way here ..You should be able to get the deal of a lifetime in Bangkok right now ..

You cannot travel to Australia, Britain, America, Canada or any other such nation, and walk in and start working in any capacity without applying for a work visa.
Whether they are taking a potential job away from a Thai resident is irrelevant, a non tourist person who works without the proper paperwork is an illegal alien, you would be the same in just about any other country in the world so what is your problem?

But certainly speaking from an Australian view there are plenty who do ! ..Just as in Thai , hospitality , cleaning , cash business ..

Somehow I doubt that. It seems in Thailand it's very easy for a foreigner to end up in prison never being guilty of anything. Just imagine you are involved in a car accident not of your own fault and how things can turn against you in a hurry landing you in prison.
I'll ask you the same question. Do you know anyone who has been put in a Thai jail never being guilty of anything? I don't mean the legal definition, I mean being falsely jailed?

Curious really as extended family of my wife don't touch it. Largely middle class, traditional types yet at gatherings before I had to stop due to illness I was generally the only one who would have a few Leo's here and there or a Heineken or two out in a restaurant. Teenagers and young adults don't drink either
Though seen people here drinking beer at 7 in the morning in garages and other workplaces so maybe it's atypical but from what my wife says there isn't really so much of a drinking culture as there is in the west amongst Thais in general
I would Agree with This ..Plus there is a such a high percentage of Women who do not drink at All .
What I do find Hard to Believe is that Australia is No 44 ?? ( Although I wish it were True )
Although I appreciate my Sample evidence is Small , and only gathered from personnal experience , when I fly back from Bangkok
to Melbourne , and I make my way back to Melbourne Centre sometimes at 1 or 2 am , I find literally no Sober people , now although
this is the " Party " group , Australians on the whole drink way too much . I find the trip back far more Intimidating than pretty much any
part of Bangkok .

On the subject, I would not be surprised if more than alcohol is involved. Most planes hand out drinks slowly these days, and certainly most will not serve you if you are drunk. And if he was already blind drunk, they would not have let him on the plane.

How could he have flown from somewhere in Australia in that state ?
Were there 1 or 2 fights ? Are there any direct flights on the day he flew from OZ to Phuket ?
Did he get on board the 1st flight in that state ? Or the 2nd flight ?
How could he have got on board the 2nd flight in that state ?
How many drinks can one person buy and drink on a flight ?
Did he have his own Duty Free booze on the plane ?
Is it possible that his drink was spiked on the 2nd flight ?
Any thoughts ?

For Max Booze , he would have had to have " Loaded Up " prior to Boarding and Flown Thai ..

and I'd be reasonably confident as to what he was Taking .

I hate how these farangs, who are 45+ years old, that come to Thailand, with a bit of money that they have saved up, thinking they are something special, flashing their money about as if they are loaded and acting like dog's ballocks because they are dating young beautiful thai girls.
i mean, it's quite funny and pathetic at the same time, because they would be nothing special in their country, just a another normal fat ugly farang, who can't get a girlfriend,who is half of their age or a wife in their country, so they come to Thailand to get one.
While in Thailand, at some point they probably think they are really handsome because of the attentions they get from the young thai girls. These girls only give them attentions or become their girlfriend or wife is because they are there for money. (This probably happens 90 percent of the time, Probably the most in Pattaya)

Let's face it, if they are dating or marrying a young thai girl, she isn't going to stay with them for long when they run out of money. Even if they are good looking and have a lot of money, the age gap is too great. Let's just say if their girlfriend or wife is 20 and they're 45 years old. In 15 years time, they will be 60 and their partner will be 35. Now, they are old and their partner is still young. what this mean she is probably still be sexually active and she will need to be pleased. Now the old farang is too old to please his wife, so she goes out and find a younger guy and sleeps with him.
Now, my friend, you have a failed relationship. (this happens a lot).

I recall meeting a 71 year old guy from the UK in Phuket , he had a 26 year Old Wife , I heard her speaking to a colleague

could understand her Bragging . I gently addressed this with the guy , and he had the most incredible attitude , He had Sailed
himself to Phuket , he knew she wasn't playing ball , he knew what there was he could loose , and he said " I dont care ....
I reckon she's extended my life by 10 years , It was always a Given " , I thought it was just a great attitude , his example is
extremely common .

I like my women a little closer to my own age, I can handle a shopping trip and spending 3 hours in the womens clothing stores as there is always some eye candy to look at. I couldn't not handle 3 hours in Toys R Us tho.

for 3 months and it was an incredible time .
