  1. I have a new 4 door Vigo which was delivered with tyres at 40 psi. I nearly lost it when back end skipped out when i hit a bump on the highway near Buri Ram at about 100k's.

From that experience it is obviously very dangerous to drive with pressure too high-fortunately I am very experienced 4wd driver and was able to get it back onto the road but frightened the daylights out of me.

The tyres have an inscription stating that maximum pressure is 44 psi but the recommendation on the door pillar is 29 psi or 2.2 bar.

Enjoy your Vigo. They are a great car.

    Cheers,

    Bicko

Bicko, have you got the 4WD version?

  2. It's a bit of a chicken and egg question (which came first, the prostitute or the john?).  But there MUST be some blame put on the Thais -- otherwise, who do you explain the fact that Thailand has become a huge sex tourism destination, while plenty of other countries -- many of them poorer -- have not?

Attractive women , cheap accomodation, relative safety and acceptance, cheap air travel, it all makes Thailand available to even the humblest worker on a low wage.

  3. Perhaps some of these punters were just in the go go bars doing research as you have done before. :o

How do you know that these people in the go go bar were any different to you and more importantly how would the police know?

Would you consider it fair if you were caught in a go go bar and deported and named and shamed because it's a situation that could occur to you as you have been to go go bars before?

Do you think that the Thais are as much to blame for prostituion as farang? I would hope so, or your view seems very biased.

The life of a humble researcher is sometimes risky, it's a cross I have to bear. :D

Do I think the Thais are responsible for Thousands of Farang sex tourists boarding planes across the world to travel to Thailand to exploit a situation with people who find themselves in a financially vulnerable position?

No. It would be like blaming the murder victim for being murdered.

  4. Somebody told me that if you commit an offence in Thailand and it ends up in court, you will be deported and blacklisted no matter what that offence is, if you are guilty.

In UK, drinking and Driving is a criminal offence, not a motoring offence like speeding or No tax. I wonder if Drinking and driving would or could end up in court in Thailand?

Be a bummer to get deported and blacklisted for having a few beers and driving home, but in UK you would be arrested and charged with a criminal offence and it would go to court for the same thing.

Wonder how the drinking and Driving laws will come into play here, probably just a fine at the local station, or 200 Baht to the officer that stops you. :o

  5. The Situation is a vile one. However the only blame here lies with the bar owner for taking on an underage girl. You can't blame punters as much as you would like to Doctor John.

I wonder how did this Farang Volunteer know this girl was only 15???

I feel that there is more to this than meets the eye which will probably never see the light of day.

I dunno really, if lewdness and prostitution is illegal in Thailand and farangs are travelling 1000's of Kms to engage in such acts, then is there no accountability for breaking Thailands laws?

Its tricky, but for instance, if I was walking down some street in LA and got talking to a hooker and negotiated with her and went to a hotel room, and it was a sting operation and she was a cop, I would be busted for violating the law, even though I was set up by a cop.

Thailands drug laws are well known so only the foolish do Class 1 drugs in Thailand, the risk is just too high for many, Thailand also has laws saying that prostitution is illegal, but thousands of farangs travel to Thailand to pay for sex, but they are breaking the law, and if a 15 year old girl was doing a show in the UK or USA and the police raided the place, do you think the customers would sent home by the Police with an apology for spoiling their night?

I think the only way to stem Sex tourism is to stop the sex tourists coming in the first place, and if that means putting laws into place where they are liable to arrest, then so be it. These guys think that they can do anything they like once they are outside their own country, it's about time this was stopped.

A bit draconian maybe, but stern measures are needed to curb the tide of scum floating into Thailand on a regular basis. :o

  6. Nicest car would be my current , Merc C36 AMG , the fastest would probably be my Subaru Impreza STI 5 , the <deleted> who nicked it though it was quick 2  :D

In the last 5 years I have had too many nice cars , I probably have lost a fortune on trade-ins , too impatient to wait for a decent price. None of them over 10k Sterling , but nice still.

    BMW M5 ( E34) M3 ( E 36 ) Nissan 300zx TT, Audi Quattro , Toyota Supra TT , Nissan Skyline R33 GTR , Ford Saff Cossie 4 x 4 , BMW 750 , Alfa Spyder V6, BMW 540.

You can buy all of these in Thailand.............................. :D

Some very special cars amongst that selection, pity you could not buy them at under 10,000 Pounds each in Thailand! :o

  7. But you see I am not afraid or ashamed to admit that I partake in liasons with females that ultimately means I hand them over money. Is that so bad.

You live the way you think it is best for you to live, I will also do the same for myself, and I think that paying for sex with poor people is not in my own best interest, ( its a self respect thing ), but hey, we are all different. :o

  8. So why choose to live in Pattaya which is known as the capital of sex in Thailand.

Dont be ashamed to answer the question

Again you can only ask a question that you have no way of verifying the answer, and if you know I live in Pattaya, it is because I have mentioned it in this forum, you feel that people that live in Pattaya should be ashamed, why?

I lived in Pattaya because it was convenient for a farang to live in Pattaya, food shops, entertainment, it's coastal and cheap n' cheerful and reasonably close to Bangkok airport.

Now, do you have anything constructive to add, or would you like the name of my barber also ?

  9. Ok Dr John, I have some questions for you, if you would be so good as to answer them.

This thread is about sex tourism, and you wanna ask the only guy that speaks out against it some questions?

You do not have to justify yourself to an anonymous forum, you could say what you like here, and it is read, believed or not believed, you only have to justify your own actions to yourself.

I speak out against sex tourism, I think that is quite plain. Obviously I am out on my own in that respect, but I will not join in with The Status Quo and pat myself on the back and boast about travelling thousands of Miles to pay for sex with poor people. No way!!

If I ever lowered myself to that extreme I would never tell a soul and I would probably die of shame, it is just too disgustingly sad to comprehend. :o

What you think about that is of no consequence, and I could tell you absolutely anything or nothing, so to question someone on a forum is totally pointless, you are here to give an opinion, so what is your opinion?

  10. Vulgarity found in GO-GO BAR.................

3 out of 7 girls underage doing shows for sex tourists. One only 15............jeez, you know something,........... Pattaya is a shitty place at times.

They should have rounded up the punters as well in a blaze of publicity, named and shamed em, deported and banned em.

See how they get on back home when their friends read that they have been watching children perform for them.

Close the lot of them! :o

  11. Three Thai restaurants in our old town have visited us,but all at different times for fear of running into one another.

three thai restaurants running into each other could cause quite a mess lampard10

Ok. For the not-so-bright-lights amoung us. The OWNERS of three Thai restaurants. You disappoint me turkey :o

well, I thought it was funny mate :D but I think we all knew it was a slip of the typing finger, just like your misspelling of my name right? :D

    :D

It was funny, it's just that Chelsea lost last night and lampshade is a bit touchy today. :D

  12. For me I started with a Mini Van, progressed onto a Triumph Herald, to a Triumph Vitesse 2 Litre, Then another Vitesse 2 litre, couple of escorts including a van, Transit Van, Rover V8  manual, BMW 735i.

I loved the Vitesse, great litttle cars, straight 6 engines , twin strombergs, I loved the Rover V8 engine noise, mine was the P6 model, (same as Rover 2000), but, The BMW was a peach, it had it all, so for me my top 3 would be......

    1.  BMW 735i.

    2. Triumph Vitesse 2 Litre.

    3. V8 Rover P6.

Now IN THAILAND I have a Toyota Tiger 4WD Pick up. Ok @ Jai Dee, you can sleep easily now, I mentioned Thailand
