1. An estimated two million women and children are sold into the sex trade every year, the U.S. research group Protection Project states.

    ....

Up to 120,000 women are smuggled into western Europe, mainly from central and eastern Europe, and forced into prostitution....

It says more than 15,000 women are trafficked into the United States every year, many of them young girls from Mexico.

The project also claims that Asian women are sold to brothels in North America for $16,000 each.

Almost 200,000 girls from Nepal, many of them under the age of 14, are working as sex slaves in India.

An estimated 10,000 women from the former Soviet Union have been forced into prostitution in Israel.

The Thai government reports that 60,000 Thai children have been sold into prostitution.

As many as 10,000 children aged between six and 14 are virtually enslaved in brothels in Sri Lanka.

Some 20,000 women and children from Burma have been forced into prostitution in Thailand....."

But if you ask the average Sex Tourist coming to Thailand they will scream that the sex workers are getting rich from their money, and they choose to do it.

In many many cases this is just not the case, but sex tourists will try to defend their actions , one thing they cannot change however is the fact that are a sad bunch of lowlifes exploiting another persons misfortune.

If you wanna give money to someone that needs it, give it to an AIDS Hospice or an Orphanage, don't make people sleep with you for the money!

  2. For me I started with a Mini Van, progressed onto a Triumph Herald, to a Triumph Vitesse 2 Litre, Then another Vitesse 2 litre, couple of escorts including a van, Transit Van, Rover V8  manual, BMW 735i.

I loved the Vitesse, great litttle cars, straight 6 engines , twin strombergs, I loved the Rover V8 engine noise, mine was the P6 model, (same as Rover 2000), but, The BMW was a peach, it had it all, so for me my top 3 would be......

    1.  BMW 735i.

    2. Triumph Vitesse 2 Litre.

    3. V8 Rover P6.

This was obviously not in Thailand Doctor... :D

Let's start again and make it Thailand related... :o

My favourite car (Purchased in Thailand) is my current one... a little red Ford Laser Tierra RS. :D

    Close the thread then.

  3. so back to the topic...............  do you think the snitch was paid?

    What was the topic?

    Oh Yea,..............

No I do not think he was paid, probably another go-go bar owner trying to eliminate the competition.

Dog eat dog in Pattaya, too many bars after too few customers.

Well cdnvic, you're not missing much. Unless you flourish in the company of a clientele who act like the last set of tits they saw was 61 years previously when their Mother stopped breast feeding them. :o

  6. As I said in a previous thread, some Farangs are not to be trusted. If they think they can score brownie points by grassing up their mates, they will and they do.

Forget all that ' We stick together ' garbage, it's dog eat dog in Thailand.

Chinese stick together, Indians stick together, Jews stick together and most do well in whatever country they are in, farangs in Thailand do not stick together at all.

Don't trust them, I did and lost 60,000 Baht. :o

  7. Kittipong described the suspects as “fun-loving educated people”.

    --The Nation 2005-02-21

If they can pin the ecstacy or coke on any individual, the fun loving will stop.

I knew a guy that got 9 years for 6 ecstasy, 18 months for each one, and that was before the war on drugs.

And Cocaine, well, no government likes that too much. My bet is they will be encouraged to reveal the scource of the drugs, and someone else will be getting busted soon.

If they had stuck to a goverment controlled drug like Alcohol, no problem, but when you want to use a drug of your own choice which is not controlled and taxed by the Government, then watch out!

  8. It depends on the DVD player.  Since your DVD player can view photos and MP3s, then it has support for those files.  However, for video files, it needs explicit support for the format.  Of course it can play mpeg/mpeg2 formats, since they are the formats of VCDs and DVDs, but only some can actually play the files when they are written as normal computer files.  I know mine can't, and I know that many cheap brand players can.  Some newer players also play Divx (mpeg4) files.

If you want complete compatibility, you need to "author" those video files into either a VCD or DVD-video format.  This means that the authoring programs will create special files and directories specific to the VCD/DVD-video, which any DVD player will recognize.  Nero can do this authoring and converting for VCDs, but it can't do it for DVDs.  You will need an authoring program to do that.

Thanks Firefox, I have Nero, I will just have to read the instructions more carefully. :o

  9. Just like Astral wisely said, never ever invest more here than you are willing to walk away from.

    Good advice,

I see some guys building very expensive houses that they will have to walk away from if it all go's pearshaped, Ok if you are loaded I guess, but I have known guys spend nearly everything they have on a house, then they get all resentful cos they cannot own it, although they knew that from the outset.

I am not rich enough to pay 3 - 4 million baht for a house I will never own, and it must be a real bummer when you lose it, 5-600,000 Baht is ok for me.

And make sure your car or truck is in your name or you will lose that at the same time you lose your house.

Bottom line is , don't invest more than you are comfortable with losing if you have to walk away. It will save you a lot of sleepness nights if you stick to that formula.

  10. I agree with Old Asia hand, it doesn't make you a better person on the whole becuase you are more tolerant of certain peoples ways.

Of course it does not make anybody better or worse for being tolerant, and my post is not directed at any particular poster, it is directed at many posters who are always complaining about Thailand and Thai people.

    It's not personal, it's just business. :o
