  3. My Thai wife holds a Thai National Passport also holds a New Zealand Passport where we were married and lived there for 12 years,we are now retired and live in Isaan for last  6 years

When we book air tickets should she use Thai passport (with Thai surname) On arrival in NZ if she uses NZ one her surname is the same as mine, which will not match name on her ticket. Similar situation on return to Thailand but in reverse

Just a bit confusing, is there a simple answer please

  4. Thanks for the comments noted

By courtesy of a friend i am using his old Linux  original on Noahs ark Kop Koon Ma krap Khun Nong

    Next question

How safe are mobile phones in a T Storm      Wife is paranoid about that??

Anoter person says stay well away from concrete blocks,do they have an attraction?/

    Thanks

  5. Have some pics but Brother  printer obviously blown. Come up with explanation mark  ! and nothing else

Laptop tried to start several times,  got as far as Google then failed, finally will not even start

All this happened in our new extension done 6 years ago with professional Bangkok electrician

Has a great control box but local xpert does not understand

Now find aircon and hot shower inoperative but the  bright sparky never checked them(nor did I) Fortunately the washing machine still goes

In the  attached original house,a 3ft fluorescent light blew the ballast pack apart, and a new tube but nothing??

50 meteres away a recent 3 car garage has its own power board. No power there at all. 2 electric portable drills will not charge. i guess the power packs took a blast

  6. Advice help and comment please

Last Wednesday during a massive thunderstorm around 1.30pm  lightening made contact via a metal cup hook on our rear wall,on which we hang an extension cable for our water pump 40 metres away ..There is an external socket and switch, which was untouched

The strike split a concrete block and flung it 4 metres across the room, taking with it the  a 2 metre surface mounted cable casing and wiring, with a flash of sparks and huge explosion

My wife was terrified and would not use her phone to contact local PEA so she drove the 8kms to Nikhom. They were not particularly interested in checking their pole connection. They do no  no service work. my wife managed to find a local xpert who arrived some time later with his screwdriver. He managed to restore power and fit new wiring and plug but failed to check rest of the house,so much is not working. He got paid and vanished and no one knows who he was or how to get a real Electrician

Next call to TOT hotline.I told the English speaking operator the Modem plug had blown out of the cocket and the internal circuit was melted. After being told 3 times to unplug it and try again,i asked that a technician drop by from Mukdahan.I got the same story next day from call centre, who requested my wofes phone number.

She got a call and said we have to take the modem to Mukdahan for checking.Hopeless as part of it is permanently wired. As instructed on Friday took what was movible into the office, and it was closed on friday to remember the king.  Behind the office were 5 service vans and luckily found a person who understood and said he would send a technician in the afternoon. 2 men spent 3 hours sorting things out.however mu computer and printer have malfunctiond permanently??

So 3 days and no service from TOT

There is a lot more to this story which I will expand later

My questions      1/ Is the permit produced, same day or is there a delay?

2/Can the departure date be flexible or set in concrete?

3/What time does the first bus leave for Savannakhet?

  8. My position is I have  the 400.000 plus for over 3 months

Due to the much reduced exchange rate  my pension works out 7000bt short

They demand I must have 800 000bt so I added 10.000 to my BKB account yesterday

to bring thee total up. but of course that has not bee there foe 2 months??

Can anyone positivly say I must have the 800 000 for Thai wife. My understanding was NO????

  9. Maybe I am having a bad run or maybe it is only Watsadu

The happenings are all very recent and compound to problems which are usually

dealt with promptly and effectively to  ensure customer continuity  ,with service where I come from

    But not here!!!

1/Hitachi water pump with 5 year guarantee, with 2 years yet to run.Automatic switching failed, mechanic said NON REPAIRABLE.

company would not replace and Bangkok agent was not interested.Been  switching manually for  a few weeks, now the electric motor

has  failed. To-day 2 young lads  visited and said "it did not burn so NO WARRANTY.Local supervisor does not seem to understand OR does not know how to handle it.A request for the warranty in English only brought  a glazed eye. What would you do

2.Purchased a 2 wheeled Sack Barrow 3 months ago, well built and was great until recently one tyre deflated. On inspection it was found that

the tread on the Chinese made tyre had parted company with the canvass base, resulting in a puncture.I took the sample to identify the problem.Plenty of complete barrows but no spares. No one knew what to do,like making a request from the maker. They suggested opposition businesses and tyre repair shops, but had no success.Would they kindly order for me,or even pirate a stock item to keep me Operationally .Impossible!!

3.I purchased  a waterproof  cover clearly marked 3m X 4m  to replace the useless cotton cover supplied originally by them for the steel frame entrance porch they previously supplied. The  material  used may have been cut to the stated size but they for got that a double fold was made  on the 4 sides to take the eyelets for strong support .It looks great with a 10cm gap all around.Do you think made in Thailand??

4.I ordered a spare cutting blade and bolt for my recently purchases motor mower. It had to be a special order as they had no stock

The bolt supplied by the maker was 3cm shorter than one fitted and of course the size was not available from local stock   Still waiting!!

5/ Asked for some  Anti Rust paint for a couple of patches on my corrugated roof. HuH   No  Have

6/Asked for roller paint applicator  and ppaint tray shaped for corrugate roofing iron.  NO HAVE  never heard of them

That's enough for now   Any comments please

  10. For good accomodation with breakfast try SOULINSOUK,HOTEL almost opposite Bus station roundabout.

Easy to find, huge elephants decorate the entrance, friendly and helpful. They seem to have a GOOD Tuk tuk on call

    which is reassuring.

Re the Consulate, there is a change, still issue a number for collection of papers but no longer supply in numeric order."Everybody first" true Thai style,so do not get killed in the rush when the gate opens at 2pm

  11. Re above. Had considerable "WORDS" with the 2 officers to-day.I thought I was well prepared for the requirements first trip this morning, but returned this afternoon with additional proof but they refused to accept.

They say,Pension certification by our Embassy has to be EVERY year. They would not accept my banking statement ,off the computer this morning, showing my fortnightly deposits. document states the need for verification but does NOT mention annually.I offered my last Embassy letter but they just laughed.

    Their leaflet should clarify that.

My extension expires on Monday. My Embassy closes 2.30pm daily,so my request will not be read for a new verification until monday and then the data will have to be sourced from back home, that means I will be several days late and costs 1400bt.They agreed to wait and promised no penalty, but would not state that in writing.

The emphasis was continually on "just make the 450K here in my bank up to 800K.They had no idea"where I could find a Money Tree.Far rather have the cash earning 4 to 5% back home than .75% here

As stated in the pamphlet, for my second trip I made the additional copy of everything. Was told 1 was all that was required.

    So much for the brochure.
