ok, so Thaiembassy is confusing the two schemes? Or am I not able to read correctly (distinct possibility)?
All my dangle angles are wrong - And damn it, that's the way I like it ????
Thanks Joe, free is good!
Am I correct in thinking the requirements are-
a valid passport w/6mo, an outward ticket, and a 'never asked for' 20k baht. Is that correct?
It's 20k per family 10k for a single traveller.

Hey Joe,
The last time I entered they did ask to see my accommodation paperwork. I think it depends on the agent.
Thanks for the info.

Immigration do not ask for proof of accommodations when entering the country.
The airline may ask to see a ticket out of the country within 30 days.
Thanks for confirming Joe that's what I thought. He plans to have a return ticket and his vaccination record to present.

Hi I am asking on behalf of my brother if proof of a hotel booking is required by immigration when he arrives in Thailand visa exempt for a 30 day holiday later this year.Thanks.

30 Days from the UK assuming you are there from your name is called visa exempt visa on arrival is something different and only for 15 days and not from the UK.I have heard of airlines asking for a vaccination cert. I would print one out in case you can't get it on your phone.

same thing happened to me. I could not find a 'request new password', but eventually I saw the icon on the website. Once I had a new password, or to be exact two new passwords, as it took two attempts, it worked. Keep requesting a new password until it yields.
Thank you I eventually did it hopefully it is ok just need to print it.

Have you seen this:
https://tm47.immigration.go.th/manual/IndexForeign.html
It has info & videos showing the process.
Followed the instructions to the letter but keep getting 'wrong user ID or password' or 'invalid data' when attempting to log in.I even turned off my pop up blocker for the site as recommended.Looks like I'll be making trips to soi 5 for a while yet.

Brilliant!
Looking forward to seeing the results of that experiment.
My money remains on Wise. ????
Mine too I used to use swift thru Nationwide before I found Wise and my memory is it was definitely slower and significantly more expensive.I've had Wise payments go thru in 4 seconds.

Indeed, that's why I said "this year".
Yes, no SERPS or S2P or anything else in this. It's the basic state pension figure and the full rate of the new state pension.
That's the only point I was trying to make that there is a big difference between the basic and new state pensions post 2016 regardless of anything else like SERPS or enhanced private pensions etc.

That is not true, you obviously do not understand how the additional pension worked. Do you really think they would have changed the system to pay out more.
The whole reason for the change was to try and make people fund more of their own pension.
When I got my my state pension in 2012 I got £192/wk. I wasn't a particularly high earner and suspect there are many out there getting a state pension in excess of £300/wk. Those that contracted out will probably be getting more than that depending on how well their fund performed.
The new system put a cap on the state pension liability.
Fair enough I'll look into that, always willing to learn.

I think the other guy is right. It's called the New State Pension and differs significantly from the old pension.
Thank you I thought this was common knowledge but apparently it's nonesense lol.

Nonsense the only difference between a person getting a pension in 2012 living in Thailand it that is a less amount than someone who gets the pension in 2016.

Curious !! Out of interest what's the difference.
Everything changed in 2016 when they give a very big increase and remodelled the UK pension system creating 2 distinct rates.Anyone who retired pre 2016 is on a much lower pension than post 2016 all other factors being equal. If anyone is interested in making up N.I. voluntary contributions before retiring the advice is not to make up years pre 2016 as this will not give you any increase.

I learned about Wise ( Transferwise ) from this forum and did a comparison of NatWest to BKK Bank v NatWest to Wise to BKK Bank transfers , on a transfer of £10k i got 12k baht ( roughly £300 at the time) more via Wise , only wish i had learned about it earlier !!
It really is a no brainer!

UK pension to Wise to Thai bank?
57 minutes ago, transam said:Surely, UK pension to Thai bank must be the simplest....? ????
Maybe the simplest but certainly much worse when you consider you have to accept the rate your Thai bank gives you on the day.

Somebody else said he has pensions paid directly into a Wise account. Is this possible? I use Wise but I don't think the account I transfer to from my UK bank is available to 3rd parties. I move funds from my UK bank to Wise where they're held until I move them on, to a Thai or Filipino bank or wherever, as I choose.
It is very possible I have a company pension and a UK state pension paid directly into my Wise account all you need to do is provide your account number and sort code to your providers..Once deposited with Wise it is also possible to auto convert pounds to baht at a rate chosen by you.Earlier today I chose to auto n convert a sterling amount to baht at 44.2.When this figure is reached I can transfer baht direct to my Thai bank.
