When I renewed my police alien registration book last year I was expecting five years but got six. The officer said the extra year was because I had kept my book, now full, in good condition.

A fountain of knowledge on passports and immigration, Joe was also a scrupulously fair moderator. He will be greatly missed. My condolences to his wife and other members of his family.
May Ubon Joe rest in peace.

By denouncing you, the lady who sold you the vaping materials would also be denouncing herself and facing a higher penalty than mere possession. If it was a sting you would have been arrested on the spot. Since nothing happened, you have no reason to worry.

Why are the officers wearing masks and he has to hold up a piece of paper? No money for mask?
Incredible.????????
Maybe the mask is behind the paper hiding his face.

Now watch the prices go up.

Unfortunately Thailand's drugs / pills are just recycled through the system on a continuous loop. it will take some time for that link to do be withdrawn.
America started a war on drugs 30 years ago and now there's more drugs available then ever.
More like 50 years ago. The 'War on Drugs' slogan dates back to Richard Nixon.

It is sad that Mobi has gone but, in addition to many treasured memories, we still have his books, which are well worth reading. He will not be forgotten.
RIP Martin.

Hasn't he suffered enough? The US will lock him up until he dies. He is Australian. Just let him go home.

If you think Pattaya or Khao San were wild, spare a thought for citizens and visitors to Chiang Mai. That was where it was all happening. I have never seen such craziness. Loved it when I was younger.

So much has gone. Sadly those hideous tattoos are still with us and, dare I say it, on the increase. It seems to be a growth industry and I'm allergic to it.

That investment would make a divorce prohibitively costly.

Rent or buy a bungalow and you'll be safe. I did.

Only one, but that was enough. I lost a retired Thai workmate to Covid in Bangkok last month. He was in his late-60's. I hadn't seen him for several years but it was still a shock.

Scary newspaper headlines triggered a similar anti-foreigner reaction when the first Thais started dying of HiV/AIDS in 1983-86. This was repeated in the late-1990s when the government blamed the economic crash on foreigners and thousands of Thais lost their jobs as factories closed. Given time, the xenophobia created by Covid-19 will also pass.

Not being stifled by political correctness is an inducement to stay.

Unintended duplicate.

I've never had a problem with the surge protectors I've bought in Thailand. Why import from the US? Chances are they are both made in China.

Unfortunately this is the kind of story the Thai vernacular press loves to sensationalise. Time is not on the OP's side so he needs to act quickly to avoid any escalation. A settlement mediated by a lawyer is the best course of action.

A friend got one a few years ago. You have to pay bribes along the whole process. I think it was about 400k.
No you don't.
Your friend might be mixing this up with the application fee and the fee due on final approval and issuance of the residence permit.
If he used a lawyer I would get suspicious.
I didn't pay a single baht in tea money when I got mine and neither did a close friend who got his last year. PR is a Godsend in so many different ways.

My guess is he will fall victim to the Computer Crimes Act. The revised version seems to cover all eventualities and is open to interpretation.
I certainly hope so.
