  1. Since you already have a visa that allows you to work all you would need is a work permit.

There would be no reason you would to have to live at the temple.

Thanks. So, I will only need letter from temple leader and give it to immigration or?

Immigration has nothing to do with work permits

The "leader" will have to apply to your work permit at the local Labour office.

I understand. This means that after I get WP I can stay 1 year in the country or I still have to leave every 90 days?

    It's confusing :S

  2. Hi guys, I want to help and do volunteer work in one temple in Isaan.

I already talked to the leader of temple and he agreed to give me small house to live in.

I have Thai wife and already have 1 year non O multi entry visa based in marriage.

Also, is there a option to live with wife in different location and on daytime work in temple?

What more I need to get to be able to work there?

    Thanks in advance.

  3. Chong Chom does NOT accept e-visa.

    Yes, it's 37$ if I pay e-visa.

I'm not exactly in city Buri Ram, I'm in small village at border Korat/Buri Ram provinces.

I have car but I'm worried about flood.

I will see next week and make an exception this time and do at Chong Chom.

Using an e-visa via Poipet sounds as if you are half-way there with the process.

Assuming you are somewhere near Nong Ki then you are 175 km to Poipet (via 348 at Nang Rong) or 142 km to Chong Chom.

Well, e-visa is cheaper and is faster to get through , in/out.

Also other reason I like to go there is to left wife at market to go shopping for her shop.

  4. Have you been to Chong Chom in Kap Cheong closer for me and a lot less hassle. If you want they'll take it to get stamped for you about 200 baht while you sit outside the Thai office. There's also a border market there for the wife and a little restaurant that sells pork steak ??? for you inside the market.

No I have not been there. I never trust anyone with my passport. I like to do all by the book :)

  5. I have a 15 year old Thai stepson. He is interested only in games on his smart phone. School work? Nah, can't be bothered. When I go out, nearly all the children I see are doing something with smart phones. Last week he told me he had an English test and he scored 15 out of 20. I asked him to tell me one of the questions but he could not remember even one. Despite having an English person living at home and English lessons at school, his English is appalling. His friends are just the same, don't care about school work under the "no fail" system and think they are clever. Under this system, Thailand be for ever a third world country.

Not only should school hours be increased, there should be less holidays, failure should be failure and children made to study both at school and at home with vast amounts of homework to get them away from computer games.

Can't understand Thai parents either who allow this situation to persist.

Do you have any idea how was it only few decades ago in Thailand?

You expect children to be rocket scientists while majority of parents are unable to read or write.

Country needs time to change laws.

    This is still normal:

  6. I have one question.

With Non O visa multiple we have to do visa runs, pay for trip, visa for Laos/Cambodia/Malaysia...

Why they not give us option to give them that money and in exchange for another 90 days?

More money in Thailand + not wasted 1 whole day or even 2 days.

If you have a "visa agent" and there are many....they can arrange that sort of thing for you...for a price of course

    Cheers

Yeah, what price? If I go to Maesot, it would cost me about 450Bt fuel for motorbike, 600Bt for one night in hotel, 500Bt to Myanmar Immigration.

How much would it cost me for a "visa agent'?

When I go to Laos, with car from Korat fuel is 1500, night in hotel 450, food and other expenses 300, Laos visa 1500 + 5000 Thai visa . After that I have to go to Poi Pet border every 90 days. Fuel 400 and 40$ visa for Cambodia. No other expenses and visa run to Poi Pet is done in 1-2 hours + trip with car.

I was asking because it would be better for Thailand and foreigners but, as you said, this is Thailand.

  7. It most likely would have left the post office last night.

Mail cannot sit idle for long ... it has to be delivered. Can you contact the person at the address to advise them ? or send an immediate follow on letter asking them to kindly forward it on .. and give them the pre-marked sticker etc ... and a small bonus for there effort.

otherwise .... someone is getting an early christmas gift ... blink.png

I recently sent a registered letter (tracking) to the USA and it sat at Swampy for 18 days. Once it departed Swampy it got delivered within 24 hours.

I'd be genuinely amazed if it were possible to intercept a package. My understanding at least as far as the USA was or possibly is concerned is that once the mail is on its way, in essence it belongs to the adressee.

Yes, but, if address is incomplete or wrong, it will be returned to sender.

I consider this topic closed. Thank you for answers.

  8. I know a guy who knows a guy who can make extension of stay for retirement or marriage.

He told me that cost is 15000 thb and 100% legal.

Now, i don't have any problem if its legal, but I do not like it if it's illegal simply because to make this you lose 15k and 3-4 days to "process" this.

I'ts better to get Non O for 5000 and later go out every 90 days. cost is roughly the same and it's 100% legal.
