  4. You can't fault Thai immigration, considering that when you get the visa, all you need is a valid passport and picture. I was just wondering at that time if they had the pages laminated. Changing the pick would have been a possible issue. Again the only issue saving him seems to be that the real Peter Smith never travelled.
  5. But where is the CHANG Shirt Suprised that one of the girls working in that are did not do something. The lady that runs the barber shop could definitely handle him.
  6. a few years ago I stayed at vareevara hotel. The rooms were good and the family that run it were awesome. might give them a shout and see if they are still there. vareevara(at)hotmail.com Reception 08 9784 2088
  7. You have answered your own question. Most young and old tourists who travel to other countries leave their brains on the plane. They seem to think me farang and I am in a different country, so the same rules that I have in my country no longer apply.
  8. I wonder if this could be due to the fact that these are the "new" lines that the government runs. Versus the lines that BTS runs and the extensions that have had very few problems. The challenge with the new SRT ines is that the government has their fingers in the pie and is making them build and operate on the cheap.
  9. I think you are right, but I would add that a lot of the women who are mid-age are looking for someone who is stable. I am sure that they could find a Thai man and have no trouble, but then again, in most cases, they would be lowering themselves. In the villages, there may be a stigma but I think that gets resolved when they farang shows that he is a good man and becomes part of the community the same in the city although more and more Thai women are looking for a man that is stable and mature and that eliminates a lot of the young thai men.
  10. After being here for 15 years (wow, where does the time go), I am taking Thai lessons not so much to learn Thai but for something to do. I have been doing it for a month and although it is enjoyable most of what I am learning I have picked up on the street already (albeit not withthe prefect sentences.) I alm looking forward to learning how to write adn read thai so that I understand a lot more of what is going on. While speaking Thai is good, I agree if you live in the city, Thais don't want to speak in Thai to you. They want to practice their English. That being said with all the paperwork and everything it will be nice to be able to ready things that I am signing and not rely on the GF
  11. There are a couple of facets I think we need to look at. I do not believe in the Farang only looking for and dating bar girls crap. I would suggest that most relationships on here that are long lasting are with women that were not part of the scene. As has been discussed on other sites, I think a lot of young non-university Thai men realize that their other half can make more money than them working in places like NANA or Cowboy. Also, they benefit from having GF that know a hell of a lot more about sex than most Thai ladies. Maturity and stability come into it for many Thai women. You rarely see farang who are married with a mia noi. Financially it makes more sense for a Thai girl to marry date a Farang than it does for most thai men Looking at the way that Thai men treat their wives is also an issue. again, there is a difference between most Thai men and farang in this instance. BUT again, in the end, it is the fact that a Thai man who has been living here for a long time must have a work visa or a good retirement plan. Therefore, they have a hell of a lot better income and can buy and support their GF wives to a better lifestyle.
  12. Why do you think he got the VIP treatment? The rich were not going to punish one of their own. He is one of the elites now, so he is relatively screwed when it comes t lower-class people.
  13. going to be interesting to see how Thaksin explailns that while he is part of the rich elite he is still a man or family of the people
  14. Thaksin is going to get hammered along with the PTP if the courts rule that MFP is trying to get rid of the monarchy. The streets will be full of people, and instead of them asking for military rule or PTP it is going to be a sea of ORANGE. Personally, I think the courts were stupid to take it. They could have simply said that they felt the amending of Art 112, while not possible, would not affect the people's love of the King and let it go. Now Pita and all the members of MFP are going to become martyrs. I think Thaksin realizes that this could be a bigger protest than anything the PTP or TRT ever had and is worried.
  15. If PTP is reformist, then consider that it was PTP and Thaksin that went through the BS that they are putting MFP through with the political games and BS of shutting down the party because they don't like it. PTP should be supporting the MFP to stay as a partynot utting them through the same painthat they went through. PTP is no different than the Democrat party, the PPP BJT or NTP. They are all in power to make money and help themselves and keep Thaialnd as it was 30 years ago.
  16. https://www.siam-legal.com/ Have used them for legal stuff and found them good big firm so lots of specialised lawyers
  17. Doesn't CM have it's own version of the old Pamntip where it is almost all computer sales.
  18. If you live in BKK I would suggest taking a trip to Rangsit ZEER lots of computer cses and friendly people to help you. Bring the board and tehy will set it up for you. If not check out JIB or adviceit.
  19. The OP is not clear where he is now. Is he presently in Thailand looking to go to Laos? Is he in a Western country flying directly to Laos? This, I think, is the confusion. If he is presently in Thailand and Overstay, he is going to get nailed by immigration at the airport or border for being overstayed. I think then he may have an issue with paying fine. Border runners may be able to say what would happen at the border crossing into Laos. Laos immigration, if they see that you have been blacklisted for Thailand, may ask questions and, based on that, can refuse entry. I am sure the Canadian that just got nailed for being 2955 would probably get refused, and he has a history. BUT it would be up to the border immigration agent.
  20. I see all these outfits selling these for lack of a better term: Electric scooters, trike and trucks. Does anyone have one of these and how much it costs in electricity?
  21. Might get me thinking of going to Pakistan I think that will be far enough away and still have the warm weather
  22. Usually, it is one day however with the tourists expect it to be Saturday and Sunday. In Patts, for some reason they have added 19 April Friday mat be a wild card depending on where you are IE silom Beach Road walking street Khosan
  23. They did these on the cheap and quickly I think that they are proving that Thailand does not have a company that can do it.
