I was wondering if any members are experiencing the difficulties i am encountering as the following is the onscreen message i have received  the past 2 days... For further information regarding The 90-day Notification Report Service, please contact the Immigration Branch Office in your residence area...Rather defeats the purpose

Yes. I've had zero problems for a couple of years but this one spits out with the same message.

  2. I purchaseda new HondaCBR300RA almost 2 years ago and haven't looked back. Enough speed and acceleration for this old guy, good handling and great for weaving in and out traffic. Furthest I've been is Pattaya and thoroughly enjoyed the ride. No issues with the bike, only issue was with the lady I ran over who was walking in the middle of a busy, dimly lit street at night. First time I've fallen off my bike in 15 years of riding. As others have said, use 360° vision, remain attentive and expect the unexpected and you'll love it!

Ive heard the usa doesnt treat its expats as refugees like Thailand treats all the farang.

If you havent worked out you'll never be welcome you must be wearing horse blinkers.

What I've "worked out" from your two previous posts is that you need to take the advice of pgrahmm:

" They actually should go back to where they came from (they're not doing any good for themselves or the Thai's by being here) - but odds are they aren't welcome there as they whined/bitched their way through everybody back home...."

And if you don't live in Thailand, I strongly suggest you stay where you are :jap:

  4. The cashier broke company procedure as the policy would be for her to check every item processed. If found out, she should be given a first and final written warning.

When I was managing supermarkets in Oz, we were alerted to a cashier involved in a scam. For her friends and family, she would scan item 1, miss item 2, scan item 3, miss items 4 & 5, and so on. We placed hidden cameras above her checkout, sprung her the next day, fired and prosecuted her.

  5. I did my first retirement extension at CW last Friday. In at 9:30, out at 11:30. All in all a delightful experience. A lovely IO and a friendly supervisor. Made sure I had everything required, and more if necessary. I use the combination of funds method with my bank funds in Bangkok Bank, no ATM card attached and a big "Do not touch" stencilled in my brain. A little extra deposited to allow for any fluctuations in the exchange rate.

Through the years i have learnt to be empathetic with immigration, as I am sure they have to deal with some pretty shady customers. Keep them happy with all the information they require and you will get a smile and a thank you in return. .

  6. I am going for my first retirement (long-stay) extension and, after one year on a lease, the owner of the condo and I have agreed to a month by month agreement.

Could someone please confirm that I should ask the owner for a copy of her Tabien Baan and Thai ID to give to immigration? Should I take internet/utility bills with me?

I believe Bangkok Bank facilities are available at CW. Does anybody know what time they open, and are you sure I can get both the statement and bank book updated there?

    Thank you in advance.

I was a U.S. Marine for 20 years. Self esteem is not an issue for me.

I like people to like me, but if they don't, so be it. I'm not going to lose any sleep over it.

Why do I live in Thailand? I like it here better than other places I've been, for a number of reasons. One is that I've actually met more friendly Thai than I did Americans, who are all so wrapped up in their personal problems, they have forgotten how to be truly friendly.

    Ditto OZ!

  8. It really irks me when people, politicians, organisations, etc, make comments on countries in which they generally have very little knowledge, interest or understanding. One of America's favourite pastimes is meddling in other countries affairs, now more out of desperation due to their sinking as a world power and the fact that any statements/declarations they make hit like a powder puff.

I am a great believer in the freedom of the press, but I don't believe this exists in its true form anywhere in the world. Even in powerful, democratic countries the press is in some ways controlled and dictated to by other parties. In other cases, some media outlets have a strong connection to one political party or another and their reporting is extremely biased.

All I know is that right now I find Thailand to be a much happier and more peaceful nation since the coup, than I experienced in my previous three years living here. Not long I know, and perhaps I'm still a newbie, but I am prepared to give this government, despite some shortcomings, a chance to make this country as great as it should be. I don't think shutting down a reactive, politically motivated, biased TV station is a bad move, because I really don't want to go back to life here pre-coup.
