I live in Thailand and am going back to america in three days. I go back once a year for a month and always get my one year family visit visa from the Thai royal consulate in Los angeles without a problem.
My passport expires in may 2008. Thats about ten months.
Can I get a one year visa from the LA consulate in america if my passport expires in 10 months?
How do I renew a passport? Can I do it in Chiang Mai when I get back?
Can I get an extension? Can I apply for a new passport in america in a months time?

I have a new hp pavilion that worked when i got it but after running the restore disk to return to original factory software, it wont get updates and it wont go to any microsoft web sites. when I got it the technician loaded a bunch of software i didn't want so I created the restore disk and ran them but now everthing works good but I cant acces any microsoft websites including www.microsoft.co.th.
when i run windows update I get and error after about 5-10 minutes "WindowsUpdate_80072EFE WindowsUpdate_dt000"

I was denied my "proof of residence" at the Chiang Mai office because I didn't have a one year visa. I do have a one year multi entry family visit visa issued in Los angeles. They said I need a one year stamp or something. They said I need to go to the american consulate in CM. They are open tomorrow.
Can anyone explain this to me. They said it was a new requirement. I had proof af residence from my first motorcycle so I've gone through the process before but now its changed. They also asked for my landlords ID which they didn't before.
Anyway, What is this one year stamp. They Los Angeles Thai royal consulat always gives me my one year visa, no problem.

I fixed it. It was the quality of the phone cable. The two wire cable worked for the old modem but not for the new belkin. Now I get the full connection speed when I look at the belkin modem setup page. I also get 850K on the speedtest.net.

I just bought a new Belkin Wireless G+ MIMO ADSL Modem to replace my 1.5 year old XAVI x8268r modem the i got from tot when i first signed up. I still have TOT Gold CYber 1,000kbs.
With my old modem speedtest.net gives me download speed of 900kbs and uploads of 400kbs. With the new modem its half that speed.
If you look at the setup pages for both modems, the old shows 1000kbs and the new bwlkin shows half that.
The only changes to the belkin configuration from its default was copied from the old modem

vci 32
mru 1492
I switched back and forth several times and the belkin was always half the speed. I always checked the speed to the bangkok server from here in CM.
Any suggestions?

Are either of you guys fish experts? I have swordtails and fancy Guppies in my outside cement tank/planter and the guppies are continually dieing. Te sword tails are doing great.
I wouldn't mind pm'ing a few questions if you didn't mind.

when the news came out they said it would take at least two weaks to get divers down there to fix it. I figure my TOT 1K package is still slow becuase the cables are still broken but I don't know. I also figur the reason it wrks at all now is becuaw they rerouted traffic but it will be slow untill the cables are fixed.
Thats what I'm guessing anyway.
I've been kown to be wrong.

Im moving from one house in the north part of Chiang Mai to closer to the city in a community called Chiang Mai Land. I had TOT gold package 1Kpbs and was very satisfied after they switched my line for me. It was worthlessly slow when I moved in but complained enough and it was fixed. I was satisfied with the speed and their service.
Now I have a choice in another part of the city, towards the center of the city. Should I choose TT&T or TOT. TOT was horrible for me at first but then they switched it for me to a more unused line. I don't know what to think since they may not do it for me in my new house and it was ridiculously slow befor that but great after that.

I have never seen it act ths way. Its took five minutes for this site to connect but some sites are fast.
My lime wire worrks fast google thailand is fast but yahoo and hot mail and tvguide.com take for ever.
when I start my pler stars software it showa 100% good cannection to all servers across the world but still takes five minutes to start. once started it works fine.
Ive never seen it act this way.
Anyone else notice a change?

My Friend is visiting from the USA and we will be in Pattaya for a few weeks. He needs to do his daily stock exchange donwload from MetaStock and do trades with Ameritrade.
Will a good hotel with high speed internet work for him. Does he need a proxy server? Is it safe for him to use a internet cafe with his own laptop (NEW WITH LATEST UPDATES AND LEGITIMATE WINXP)?
He says he has problems using a dial up even in the USA so he fears a regular dial up from a cheap hotel won't do it. I have to agree since I've used dial up packages (tot 1222) at many hotels in pattaya and found the connection to US sites horrible.
Anyone with any suggestions or experience with daily USA stock trading in LOS or experience using the metastock or ameritrade software in LOS.

I only have a few pages left in my visa book. Im in america now but am leaving for LOS in five weeks. I live in Thailand most of the year and am retired. Is it easier to do in bankgkok. I would guess it would take several weeks doing it here.
I only cross every 90 days and I ran out in two years. What do all you people do who go every month? Camboia takes one full page each time.

I will be going to Ko Samui on April 19th thru 22nd with my girlfriend. I'm not in to crowds and am hoping there are no special holidays.
What shoudl I expect on these days as far as crowds or events. Who know maybe ther will be an event I like.
I was in Chiang Mai on Loy Krathong Day and had fire crackers going off in my face and thai teenagers throwing fire crackers at people. So much for these fun holidays. It drove my crazy.
Also any suggestions for a nice place on the beach maybe 4k baht a night. I look on the forum for hotel suggestions

My visa expired 5 days ago but I got the new 90 day stamp 6 days ago from PP cambodia. Unfortunatly I thought the embassy would be open on saturday in PP so my trip to cambodia for this purpose was wasted.
I have all the paperwork including a letter form my wife that were marrried. Now I still have 3 months to get my new one year multi entry.
The Thai embassy in LA knows were divorced in the US and said it didn't matter since were not divroced in thailand. That doesn't mean another embassy wouldn't get upset if they found out we were divorced.

I went to thai immigration and they said I need to go to an embassy outside thailand. I never had to have my wife around for the first one just a letter stating were married in thailand and that I will spend alot of time here. I was hoping one of the embassies from a close country might not be too strict and just give it to me.

I received my one year multi entry family visit visa from the consulat in Los Angeles one year ago. My ex wife helped me out by providing all the paper work and a letter stating were still married in thailand. She lives in the US and I live in thailand and don't want to ask her for help again. I have all the original paper work but hte letter is a year old.
Can I easily get another one year family visit in Laos or Cambodia. I have all the same paper work from before and proof of residence in thailand and a bank account here.
I know when I go back the the US I can get my ex-wifes help again and get it at Los Angeles but would rather do it on my own.
Im to young to get a retirement visa and don't need or want a bussiness.

Is it difficult to get house rentals which allow pets?
I just rented a house near Huay Keaw Rd and the super highway. Its on a quite street with many dogs walking around. I have a big yard walled in but the land lord said no dogs since people have been getting bit lately.
I just inquired about geting a dog after the lease was signed. I believe if I had a dog she would never turn me away from signing a lease. I bet anything is negotiable.

The underlying USA economic fundamentals and historical debt is still there and rising interest rates,which are about to end,can't save the dollar.
Still,gold is safer than euros,Swiss francs,yen,yuan,and all printed fiat paper money.
When the dollar goes the way of the peso,it will be economic armageddon time and the ones sitting on a pile of gold bullion coins on a South Seas island will be able to buy the world.
I don't believe in doom and gloom. I've been hearing it for ever. Things alway seem to regulate themselves. I wouldn't bet too much against the US.
IMHO it all went down hill when I couldn't get Thai stick anymore back in the 80's

I called TOT and they said everyone on goldcyber is down, don't know when it will be up.

Great info. I wish I had thought of this earlier. It looks like I shoudl have got a new one in Chiang Mai earlier. I will go to the american government web sit to get info on renewal time and requirements.
