  1. Bacteria has norhing to do with it. The problem is electrolytes (sodium, potassium). Especially if sweating a lot.
  2. Coffee and other caffeinated drinks can briefly elevate blood sugar so not advisable before tests that include blood glucose. Water is fine. 6-8 hour fast (excluding water) is enough for tests of blood glucose and/or lipids. Some blood tests do not require fasting at all, depends on the test.
  3. There was no appeal process because under US law a not guilty verdict cannot be appealed. Only a guilty verdict or a sentence.
  4. Judge instructions are pretty generic and do not/cannot dictate jury verdict. Jury verdicts can only be overturned by an Appeals Court and only if a convicted defendent chooses to appeal (not relevant in this case). The judge presiding over the trial cannot overturn jury verdict. Nothing the legal system can do about it if a jury acquits someone as happened here.
  5. The Embassy will make every effort to locate a relative of some sort. Even a very distant cousin will suffice, if that is all there is. Lacking any relation, if you left a will naming an Executer that person would usually be accepted if no relatives can be found. (Also, whatever distant relation the Embassy can find, can simply sign a release authorizing your Executor or other person to handle it. The reason for the relative search is to avoid complaints to the home office later that relatives were never informed of the death). The Embassy does not dispose of (or pay for the disposal of) bodies. I would assume that if they are unable to find even a distant relation after a certain period of time they would advise the hospital or wherever the body is being held to go ahead and dispose of it. How that would be done, with no one to pay, I don't know....especially since storage charges will have mounted by that point. There is a charitable Chinese foundation in Thailand that pays for burials in some cases. In your particular case I suggest you find a friend or acquaintance willing to handle things for you, pre-pay for a simple funeral and provide the friend with all related info as well as contact info on whatever your nearest blood relative is, no matter how distant, so that they in turn can so advise the Embassy. As mentioned all this relative would have to do is sign a form agreeing to let your friend then handle the disposition of the body.
  6. Contact https://www.amarinternational.com/contact.html They can arrange completely no frills cremation on outskirts of Bangkok and will also help liaise with Embassy for the needed paperwork etc. (Foreigner body can not be released for cremation or burial without Embassy OK first, Embassy will need proof wife us next of kin etc). If your wife will have any sort of death benefit entitlement from UK source or need access to zmany UK accounts they will help her get the needed documentation for that as well. You can prepay for this if you like to make it that much easier for your wife...this also protects against subsequent cost rise. Last time I knew someone who used them cost was about 25k. May be a bit more now. Call Dao (number on website) to find out. She is very helpful. Cremation alone with no ceremony does not cost anywhere near 400 (or even 100)k. But especially in Bkk area temples (which are indeed where crematoria are located) can be reluctant to do this. Amar has an ongoing relationship with one that they use for this purpose.
  7. Type 2 diabetes can be genetic. My mother has always been thin and trim, eats good diet, but comes from a family with a lot of T2D and has it. I know many people like this. Whole families where every sibing has T2D no matter how slim or what they eat (though of course excess weight/carb intake will make it worse).
  8. I think you can go straight to a periodontist at the dental hospital http://www.dentalhospitalbangkok.com/
  9. What you describes does not sound at all like a torn meniscus. More likely arthritis. As with anything rlse, an accurate diagnosis is essential. In my experience people's self diagnoses are wring more often than right.
  10. Possible that the infection never fully cleared. Be sure to complete full course of antibiotic. Do you swim?
  11. What on earth do you mean? What did a judge have to do with it? Both his criminal case and his civil case (the subject here) were decided by juries.
  12. It is a government hospital and not much time/inclination for preventive services. The system is for nurses to screen first and then decide which doctor to send the patient to and in what order. That would be the point at which to specify full body check... But be prepated for them not to be familuar with the concept.
  13. Not quite. What is said is that more men die with it than of it, and that's true enough, mainly because the invidence greatly increases in old age. But plenty of men die it. 2nd leading cause of cancer death in men. Nowadays the diagnostic process distinguishes between slow growing moderate and aggressive cancers of the prostate.
  14. It varies with the insurer. Some allow this. I know Safety Wings does but that is only an option if under 65. For US IMG is good option but I don't know if they allow you to apply after trip. If akready in US perhaps give them a call. https://www.imglobal.com/travel-medical-insurance It is advantageous to get a policy from a US based insurer but be aware some will not give travel policy to US citizen visiting US. IMG will.
  15. Yes hematoligist will know what this is. https://www.bumrungrad.com/en/doctors/wichean-mongkonsritragoon https://www.bumrungrad.com/en/doctors/narin-voravud
  16. Indeed not. Any competent general surgeon can do open hernia repair and any surgeon trained & experienced in endoscopuc surgery can do laparoscopuc hernia repair.
  17. I suspect he did not mean Bangkok Hospital in Bangkok but rather one of the provincial affiliates and these often charge more, especially BPH. Price at Bangkok Hospital in Bkk for laproscopic is 287,500.
  18. It is far from a routine test nd you won't be able tyo just get it done in a lab. You'd need to see a hematologist in a large hospital. Suggest you get a letter from your UK doctor stating your diagnosis and the need for testing/ test to be performed.
  19. A high percentage of the top doctors you describe hold faculty positions at large government teaching hospitals. (And I would hardly call such hospitals "lower").
  20. A post with misinformation has been removed along with reply to same
  21. Off topic banter removed. This is the health forum not pub.
  22. Not a "large amount of people" if viewed as a percentage of the many millions vaccinated. https://www.thelancet.com/journals/lanres/article/PIIS2213-2600(23)00414-9/fulltext Vaccination reduces (but does not eliminate) the incidence of long Covid.
  23. See post above yours. It is not this, ir is ibuprofen brand name Ibucet. In any event OP already got vlarification from the clinic that it was ibuprofen.
