  1. Lol As if this claim of illegal activities by the Thai police would be news to anyone here.
  2. Better off learning English first, the international language. Let Chinese learn English or Thai. Why do they expect others to learn about their culture and language? Surely there’s enough of that influence in the world already? Oh wait, of course, Thailand wants to make a good impression and all that. Enough with the prostrating already. 🥴
  3. Yes it would be. Lock them all up, I say! But won’t happen of course. I mean, look how the last governments have come about. Shambles. It is best to not even concern oneself with such triviality. Keep smiling and let them carry on. Only the Thais can change it.
  4. Thai numbers go round and round. If you let your sim go for a certain amount of time--say, go back home for a year--pretty sure it ends up back in circulation after a time. So, it could be some old acquaintance of Somchai Bloggs or daeng or kiaw or dam or porn or whoever, who had your number before just checking up on them/you.
  5. Oh yes, sorry, I missed that bit. In that case, I think the family should have him committed as he suggests.
  6. Yeh, right. They have been filling up Spanish coffers for decades. Not all Brits are lager louts. There is also middle and upper classed gentry hitting the resort towns, suppin sweet malaga wine while staying in expensive villas. Same for the Germans, across all classes. Millions go there to chill and spend money. Portugal, too. Maybe some devout Catholic mayor has been whispering tat in someone's ear, but this is more likely sensationalist tabloid fluff.
  7. There are cardless atm machines at most banks nowadays... pretty sure you only need the phone, the app will bung you down a code. Labelled CDM or similar.
  8. Srettha's fault for inviting them all over. Get him to ask his best mate, Putin, to haul them back over. I'm sure they would get on well with the Moscow police when painting the walls of the Kremlin.
  9. The Doi Angkhang loop, as mentioned by PoorSucker, is nice. A night in Chang Dao, two at Angkhang... you could cut across to your 'sticky' falls (assuming you mean Bua Thong) on the way back. You could also do the MHS loop in that kind of time, but a lot more arduous driving/riding. Much better on a bike, esp a scrambler type with hybrid tyres.
  10. Another dingbat. Why would they, hundreds of thousands of people hadn’t been killed at that point. Get a grip!
  11. What a bizarre comment. Are you feeling ok? Their country has been utterly ravaged with hundreds of thousands slaughtered, so they could be forgiven for not showing sympathy in a timely manner.
  12. Cringe. Who wrote this? A couple of festivals does not a global festival hub make. They’ve always done this. The word hub means less when Thai governments and their backers use it; either misunderstanding its actual meaning or just talking up nationalistic twaddle, which is a third world trait when overused. Thailand, along with Singapore, might be a hub for flights into the SEA region, but is not a global air hub etc etc.
  13. It is a horrendous and cowardly act against innocent people, yet Russian state sponsored killing of innocents goes on in Ukraine on a daily basis. Thailand should also be condemning that.
  14. Many folk loving up to China here and likening them and Russia as the good guys. Get a grip! This pair would bury you or have you and your way of life in chains given half a chance. Their people utterly despise their leadership. The US is no Mary Poppins, no country is (no not even Switzerland with all its dubious Nazi gold), but if they were truly a force for the bad we would all be screwed. It would be great for the peoples of both China and Russia to wake up, eviscerate their leaders and get their countries back. But they are utterly under the thumb plus there is too much apathy. Dunno if Xi will bury himself but most of the rhetoric there is for domestic consumption and to keep his people in line. And yes, the place is in a bind economically. Can’t see them ever attacking Taiwan. China’s military is a bit of a paper tiger and they’d be in for a surprise when the Taiwanese fight back hard. What’s China gonna do then, lob a nuke over? I don’t think so.
  15. Take those illegal workers out of the equation and those jobs will unlikely get done. Been noted already, but the bottom line is Thais in general do not like to work boring and mediocre jobs with poor pay. While not inherently lazy, many will roll that way at this level and just will not do it for long unless it is their baby. There are illegal workers in every country and Thailand should get a grip and do some reforming. You can work in my country and own a house etc but I can’t do in yours. They can work legally, but Without the Burmese, Cambodians etc—who are routinely looked down upon—houses and roads are not going to get built.
  16. Didn't you get on the wagon a while back?
  17. Indeed. Once in a while, this guy—in one guise or another—can post something of interest. But, today, this ain’t it. And, what humour? There’s really only one group that has a proper handle on it in this world. Much of the time, to others, it is so convoluted that it goes over their heads.
  18. Get your underhand and corrupt government out first then you can be in a position to talk about anti corruption with the Nords.
  19. I recall years ago Jim Davidson deplaning when the female pilot came over the tannoy. 😋 Wouldn’t bother me because, male or female, they’re put through rigorous testing, and to get into such a traditionally male dominated role takes spunk.
  20. It’s a nice thought but they should focus on getting people to turn up their air con a bit. Some go ott and run it flat out. Domestically, lights, esp nowadays, don’t use much juice; it is mostly aircon, hot water showers and ovens etc. The rich in massive houses and big industry with innumerable fluorescents are main culprits of electricity usage. But hey let’s go after the little people as usual. 🙂
  21. Probably a bit of a setup... they were recently on a podcast together and a bit pally for my liking. If for real, Mike is still a beast and could probably KO him within the first few rounds, but would struggle to go the distance methinks. Yeah, I'd walk in there for that kind of money. Aside from having your head knocked off, why wouldn't you?
  22. Thailand is still well priced on the dental front. I wouldn't even research it too much, aside from finding a good dentist, since there are so many of them and rates are normally similar. Private is at least double gov hospitals, but you can just waltz in off the street and potentially have a pair of pliers in your mouth within minutes. Yes, that's a good thing. 🙂
  23. Yes, she is turning on the charm there for sure. Crocodile tears next? Can only imagine that from one woman to another, you would have to be a pretty evil specimen to boot the other right in the jack & danny knowing she's pregnant, and especially over something so trivial. People are getting worse.
