  1. Peter42- Thanks for your informative reply. I thought so but just wanted to make sure because I wasn't that knowledgeable about the process to buy and sell property.
  2. I was wondering if, as an example, your thai wife or g/f owned property in Thailand, they had a chanote on file in the appropriate gov't Dept, could an unscrupulous person somehow manage to falsify another chanote showing the property in question was sold to another person and have it recorded in the Gov't office? In so doing, the crook could sell the property they just stole or go to a lending institution with the forged document to obtain a loan against the property.? I would like to think that any new ownership of property would require both parties to have to appear at the appropriate gov't land records office to finalize the transaction. If this question borders on paranoia or is outlandish, I will put my tail between my legs and crawl off into the sunset.
  3. I, for one, hope he is forced to go back to Switzerland. You make your bed you sleep in it. Yes Thai's have faults just like all people do but my experience with them is the vast majority of them are wonderful, hard working, family oriented people with good hearts. Their are a few bad apples but I don't envy Thai's having to deal with pompous, egotistical, holier then thou folks from many different countries who come to their country flaunting their new found wealth and treating them like second class citizens. Respect and treating people in a civilized manner is most important and being receptive and understanding of a countries culture and societal norms, especially as a visitor, however much they might differ from their own, is paramount. The swiss man's behavior, as well as his wife/gf, was ugly and incredibly condescending toward the 2 thai women sitting on the steps at night gazing at the ocean and the night sky. Just watching the video left a very bad taste in my mouth.
  4. I am sure the Swiss man and his thai wife/gf are torn up over this unfortunate incident detracting from caring for their elephants at their sanctuary.
  5. One wonders if this swiss man deems it appropriate to allegedly kick 2 women under the rationalization that " he thought they were Chinese", how are the elephants at his elephant sanctuary being treated?
  6. More then 80% of the trading in the stock market is being done by huge sophisticated companies using technology which can execute 90,000 stock trades a second. They literally can buy and sell and work on spreads in pennies per trade.
  7. When you see stalls situated near schools selling all sorts of sugary sodas and cakes and cookies and other assorted junk foods it is no wonder their is an epidemic of out of control sugar consumption in Thailand.
  8. You are being played big time. I live in Buriram with my thai wife and no way you need that amount of money to live. It is definitely one of the possibilities you mentioned and you are being used like an unlimited atm to spit money out.
  9. Digbeth- The beaches might be a little better and I guess if one is staying in the aforementoned small towns you listed for a short time, I guess it wouldn't be a problem. For long term I'm not sure because now you are farther from Prachuap in case you need medical care and that much further from Hua Hin and Bangkok and even more isolated. At least Prachuap has a Lotus, a Makro a Global house there. I hope at some point the powers to be decide to build a mall in Prachuap which would be a welcomed addition.
  10. Hamus Yaigo- Bingo. The folks who follow the vlog you refer to need their head examined. The poor mom who was funded by Go fund me folks sold her house in Texas before coming to Thailand to be with her son. Her son and daughter both lived in the U.S and had good paying jobs while there. Before moving to Thailand to live they sold their house and travel van and other assorted things so I am sure they are not hurting for money. The son is making a good buck from his youtube channel. It floored me when, after dipping into his pocket to pay for his mom's surgery in Thailand he then proceeded to announce that they were looking for folks to contribute to his mom's gofund me account. The son said all my mom has is around 30000 thb accident insurance coverage and at her age she can't get proper health insurance. He found the solution, just have other folks pay for his mom's health issues. In the meantime, the son and his thai wife are always traveling allover the place. They were just in Hawaii and are headed for a European cruise. They probably travel 10 months of the year all over Thailand. I just am amazed at how folks will willingly pay for someone else's health issues when it is quite obvious the injured person has funds. P.T. Barnum said it best.
  11. We have spent the last several winters in Prachuap Khiri Khan and we like it there. We find more and more expats are buying property there and are building really nice western style houses. Yes the beach at Ao Prachuap is a problem and unfortunately raw sewage does flow into the ocean which makes me sick to look at. I have never smelled any raw sewage though even with the effluent being poured into the ocean from time to time. As for Ao Manao there are chairs for rent for 20 baht and they don't take up a considerable part of the beach. We have swum from time to time at Ao Manao and never had a problem with any ear infections or irritated skin after swimming there. Ao Noi is a nice beach there and I do see quite a few folks swimming there from time to time with no problems. As for burning,in the winter most of Thailand is affected by smoke resulting from burning but the nice thing about Prachuap is if you spend a lot of time by the ocean there is always a strong wind which keeps the air relatively smoke free. Just like in Hua Hin, which is about a 45-50 min ride from Prachuap, you can just as easily take a van to Bangkok just like you can from Hua Hin. There is also a train that goes to Bangkok from Prachuap. Most definitely if you are looking for bars and action filled night life Prachuap is not the place for you It is very quiet and some folks enjoy the serenity which you find in Prachuap. If one desires a night out you can go to Hua Hin or go to Bangkok and spend a few nights there. We don't dine out a lot but there are some good restaurants, either with western food or thai food. There are also some good places, such as Milanos, which serve up a delicious breakfast. All in all we like Prachuap and it suits our lifestyle. It is definitely not for everyone, especially if you are single and on the hunt for ladies or for bar hopping.
  12. Thank you to no-show Jones and kinok farang for your comments. I find most posters very helpful with loads of great and informative info which they kindly share with other members. I guess their are a few unhappy and disgruntled posters who like to denigrate and belittle posters for questions THEY deem worthy of ridicule.
  13. foreverlomsak- What does ACW mean? Also is the skytrain and the subway both in the same vicinity?
  14. Wow Steven100 what a guy. Willing to fork over over some payola to me. P.S. All kidding aside thanks for the info.
  15. What is the cheapest way to travel from Mochit Bus Terminal to Sukhumvit Rd in Bangkok?
  16. KhunLa- I agree with sufficient strength. I saw a woman chiropractor many years ago in the U.S. who was filling in for my regular chiropractor and after seeing her I was disappointed because she didn't have the necessary strength to give me a proper adjustment. Contray to what the initial poster stated about chiropractors in Bangkok not utilizing manipulation and adjustments, it is good to know that they do. I see where you reside in Prachuap Khiri Khan. Other then a chiropractic/osteopathic office in Hua Hin do you know of any other places in Prachuap Khiri Khan that do chiropractic adjustments/manipulation?
  17. I actually watch quite a few you tube posters and I find them to be interesting, informative, funny, interesting depending on what their target audience is and what their interests are and what they like to post on their vlogs. They are very entertaining and fun to watch.
  18. I have used chiropractors all my life in the U.S. and didn't know the chiropractors in Bangkok didn't use manipulation and adjustments which, in my opinion, is key to successfully treating a problem. I was in Chiang Mai recently and saw an osteopathic DR named Ben Thompson for a chronic neck problem I have. He is thai but his father is from Great Britain and he speaks fluent english as well as thai. He went to school in England and has licenses from the U.K. I only saw him once but was very impressed with him. While waiting for my appt at least 4-5 farang patients arrived at his facility to be treated and he has a very good reputation. As for my visit with him, he gave me an adjustment of my neck and used suction cups on my back and neck which was a first for me. My wife and myself actually bought a suction cup set from him and we use it at out house. Lastly, I saw him a couple of weeks ago and he said he was going on a lengthy vacation because he had been working non-stop for a long time and he needed a break. If you are ever in Chiang Mai I would highly recommend him and a retired physiotherapist who I have use before in Chiang Mai said she knew Dr Thompson and he was an excellent DR. Good luck
  19. The way the cowboys fly by on their m/c it is no wonder why their aren't more fatalities. They are like human projectiles being shot out of a cannon. Condolences to the pregnant wife and the deceased family.
  20. I can't help remembering an incident back in the U.S. where a former airline pilot used a woodchipper to dispose of his wife.
