  1. I was wondering if, as an example, your thai wife or g/f owned property in Thailand, they had a chanote on file in the appropriate gov't Dept, could an unscrupulous person somehow manage to falsify another chanote showing the property in question was sold to another person and have it recorded in the Gov't office? In so doing, the crook could sell the property they just stole or go to a lending  institution with the forged document to obtain a loan against the property.? I would like to think that any new ownership of property would require both parties to have to appear at the appropriate gov't land records office to finalize the transaction.  If this question borders on paranoia or is outlandish, I will put my tail between my legs and crawl off into the sunset.

  2. Digbeth- The beaches might be a little better and I guess if one is staying in the aforementoned small towns you listed for a short time, I guess it wouldn't be a problem. For long term I'm not sure because now you are farther from Prachuap in case you need medical care and that much further from Hua Hin and Bangkok and even more isolated. At least Prachuap has a Lotus, a Makro a Global house there. I hope at some point the powers to be decide to build a mall in Prachuap which would be a welcomed addition.

  3. We have spent the last several winters in Prachuap Khiri Khan and we like it there. We find more and more expats are buying property there and are building really nice  western style houses. Yes the beach at Ao Prachuap is a problem and unfortunately raw sewage does flow into the ocean which makes me sick to look at. I have never smelled any raw sewage though even with the effluent being poured into the ocean from time to time. As for Ao Manao there are chairs for rent for 20 baht and they don't take up a considerable part of the beach. We have swum from time to time at Ao Manao and never had a problem with any ear infections or irritated skin after swimming there. Ao Noi is a nice beach there and I do see quite a few folks swimming there from time to time with no problems.

As for burning,in the winter most of Thailand is affected by smoke resulting from burning but the nice thing about Prachuap is if you spend a lot of time by the ocean there is always a strong wind which keeps the air relatively smoke free. Just like in Hua Hin, which is about a 45-50 min ride from Prachuap, you can just as easily take a van to Bangkok just like you can from Hua Hin. There is also a train that goes to Bangkok from Prachuap.

Most definitely if you are looking for bars and action filled night life Prachuap is not the place for you It is very quiet and some folks enjoy the serenity which you find in Prachuap. If one desires a night out you can go to Hua Hin or go to Bangkok and spend a few nights there.

We don't dine out a lot but there are some good restaurants, either with western food or thai food. There are also some good places, such as Milanos, which serve up a delicious breakfast.

All in all we like Prachuap and it suits our lifestyle. It is definitely not for everyone, especially if you are single and on the hunt for ladies or for bar hopping.

  4. Thank you to no-show Jones and kinok farang for your comments. I find most posters very helpful with loads of great and informative info which they kindly share with other members. I guess their are a few unhappy and disgruntled posters who like to denigrate and belittle posters for questions THEY deem worthy of ridicule.

  5. KhunLa- I agree with sufficient strength. I saw a woman chiropractor many years ago in the U.S. who was filling in for my regular chiropractor and after seeing her I was disappointed because she didn't have the necessary strength to give me a proper adjustment. Contray to what the initial poster stated about chiropractors in Bangkok not utilizing manipulation and adjustments, it is good to know that they do.

I see where you reside in Prachuap Khiri Khan. Other then a chiropractic/osteopathic office in Hua Hin do you know of any other places in Prachuap Khiri Khan that do chiropractic adjustments/manipulation?

  6. I have used chiropractors all my life in the U.S. and didn't know the chiropractors in Bangkok didn't use manipulation and adjustments which, in my opinion, is key to successfully treating a problem. I was in Chiang Mai recently and saw an osteopathic DR named Ben Thompson for a chronic neck problem I have. He is thai but his father is from Great Britain and he speaks fluent english as well as thai. He went to school in England and has licenses from the U.K.  I only saw him once but was very impressed with him. While waiting for my appt at least 4-5 farang patients arrived at his facility to be treated and he has a very good reputation. As for my visit with him, he gave me an adjustment of my neck and used suction cups on my back and neck which was a first for me. My wife and myself actually bought a suction cup set from him and we use it at out house.  Lastly, I saw him a couple of weeks ago and he said he was going on a lengthy vacation because he had been working non-stop for a long time and he needed a break. If you  are ever in Chiang Mai I would highly recommend him and a retired physiotherapist who I have use before in Chiang Mai said she knew Dr Thompson and he was an excellent DR.  Good luck
