  1. Are people really worried about a stamp on a number plate which can hardly be seen, I doubt there is one case of anyone being stopped and fined for having a plate without this little stamp, a lot of cars have no plates so there will be no problem with these made up plates!!

  2. Couldn't be worse than Phuket. My experience dealing with immigration offices outside touristy area's is that they are super friendly, helpful, and don't ask for or expect backhanders like in Phuket. However some services may be limited.

Sorry what backhanders? Never once asked for a backhander!!

  3. If you are happy catching nothing then fishing wild waters is the way to go, the majority of wild waters are netted, fishing parks are great, cheap fishing and you can catch monsters, nothing wrong in having parks that provide fish to catch.

  4. Great weather this morning. I was just about to get to my motorbike and drive to the south to check some geocaches and take pictures. Then checked the rain radar which shows that in one hour or so it's going to pour heavily again.

really, i'd be willing to bet money that it will not

Now the rain seems to go a bit over Phuket.

I'm not going to bet on that time range, but what is said is said. Therefore 1 beer at a local bar (when ever we are going to have the Phuket meeting or we meet otherwise) if the rain hit's or not Phuket before 3pm today?

Can't believe it it's pouring in Chalong with sunshine!! your rain radar seems to be shish!!

  5. Any vehicle will be OK on the hills in Phuket they are not mountains

Thanks Peter, appreciate that, but was really trying to ascertain whether I would have to "tear the arse" out of the engine in order to get over them at a reasonable speed!! Don't want to have a clapped out engine on the car a few years down the track when I want it to see me out!!

Have had no experience with a 3 cylinder car so was keen to hear of others who had bought one.

    Regards.

How big are these hills? I have been all over Phuket and there is no hills here that would stop a 3 cylinder car, you seem to be worrying about nothing, why don't you just buy a 1.5 if the 1.2 is of great concern!!

  6. Your right about the flaming Kawapower.....everybody knows who i am on the forums, and I mostly like have a lot more to contribute than most. But it seems largely to fall on death ears. part of the problem for the sport over here is that the "scene" in most practical senses is devided into 3 categories. Thai Fishing Parks, Farang ran fisheries, and wild fishing. We all have a pretty good idea of what conventional Thai fishing parks consist of and like you say for most of us they quickly become boring. wild fishing is boring for a different set of reasons....likeanother said most wild bodies of water have been fished or netted to being near empty bar a few snakehead....and farang ran fisheries which offer the best experiences are criticized for being too expensive and therefore the vast majority of expats cant or wont attend on principle.

Doesnt leave much to comment on in the end does it! But if anyone is interested....soon a Farang ran carp and predator fishery (no sawai, no mekongs except 80kg up) that you can fish for less than 1000BHT a day for members will be open in Cha Am. :) Hope to see some of you there.

So what are the details regarding this new fishing lake? Where in Cha Am? what is this about membership? Will you be able to stay at the lake for a reasonable price? What will the cost be for fishing, will it compete with Cha Am fishing park and resort? over to you!!

No response, guess this must be a fishy tale!!

  7. You can not get better value for a bike here than the CBR250, it is quick as <deleted> if you open it up, with out doubt the best bike in Thailand you do not need anything bigger, this bike is fast enough for this country, absolutely love it!!

The Honda CBR250R is a fantastic bike IMO, it's no wonder it's a global best seller. :)

I just felt that your view of the CBR250R as looking like sportsbike was a bit odd.

Must make it clear it's my opinion that the CBR is awesome, and to a previous poster yes I enjoy this 250 100 per cent more than the 1000cc I had.

Given that the CBR250R was designed as a mini-sports-tourer in the vein of the VFR1200, and performs as such. Excellent useable torque instead of a spikey powerband.

The CBR250R looks like the practical mini-sports-tourer it is IMO, but you think the CBR250R looks like sportsbike. Fair enough as we've all opinions, I found it a bit odd tbh. smile.png

No problem. You said that the Ninja 250R following the design of the ZX10 was just 'trying too hard to be something that it isn't'. Then you went on to say that the CBR250 follows the design of the VFR1200, but that's fine apparently despite it being absolutely nothing like the VFR1200 in terms of engine size, engine design or overall performance.

You seem confused. The great little CBR250R isn't designed to look like the real thing (a 1200cc beast). It's easy to see the CBR250R is a (beautiful) 250 (or even 150!).

The new little ninjette is obviously trying to look like the real thing - a 600 supersports or 1000 liter bike. Bit embarrassing on a 20 something RWHP 250.

    IMO.

I'm sure the posers will like it though. :)

I'd agree the CBR250 is a good value bike and certainly suitable for the potholed and dangerous roads of Phuket. Once you get onto the well maintained highways and twisties outside of Phuket it's nice to have a bit more than 22hp sometimes.

Well I am betting the 250 will beat most bigger bikes on the twisties, As for having a bit more is 150kph not fast enough here!! The CBR is very quick away and will be very quick up to it's top speed, it's fast enough for this country in my opinion.

Well maintained highways where is this then? I drive up to Cha Am quite a lot and the highway is awful, big holes and big stretches of road that would not look out of place in a farmyard!!

  10. I certainly would not wait over 8 months for anything but no hurry no worry!!

You like the Mazda, i prefer the ford ranger to the Mazda but would not buy one as it did not come with a tray liner originally

so ungraded to wildtrak, yes i am prepared to wait but not for to much longer, i will really start stirring the pot if they hold up delivery again, may not do any good but you never know unless you try

The only pick-up I don't like the look of is the Nissan, I think all the others look great, have seen a few Rangers on the road and yes they look very good but not that much to warrant waiting over 8 months, hope it arrives this month for you.

  11. Saw a 2.2 black Wildtrak this morning with white number plates so it must have been here for a while.

I have seen a few around, i talked to the ford motor company's sales manager for southern Thailand the last time we visited the dealer

He showed me on his laptop the ours was due to be manufactured on the 12 Sept but was very vague about delivery date, come the 13Th i will be on there backs we have waited long enough for our driving holiday to Isaan, Cambodia and Laos

At what point will you be fed up enough to tell them " I not want anymore".

  13. just leave your out in the rain overnight....it really works and you can't beat the price

Sorry but I have never heard of rain dissolving road tar!

It was just a joke, but water will dissolve just about anything if you give it enough time...look at the Grand Canyon -- or my rusted out car!

I didn't want to wait 2yrs for the rain to dissolve the tar I wanted it of straight away!!
