Why does it seem impossible for this country to provide a safe and decent road surface, I have driven up to Cha Am a few times in the last few months and I am surprised my cars suspension is still in one piece, huge holes and the most awful road surface I have ever experienced, is there a lack of funds or just a lack of knowledge on how to make roads, The roads on Phuket are mostly okay but leave the Island and they deteriorate rapidly, maybe it's time to buy a tank!!

More and more I am thinking of gettin a pick-up, just back from Cha Am, the drive up there is fraught with danger, I am talking about the huge holes in the road and just the most awful road surface, most of the road is fine untill you hit the many stretches of road that would not look out of place in a field, so many times my March went down a hole, I thought the suspension would crumble, the awful surface shook the car so much again I thought something would break, got back safety and the car intact with no apparent damage, so maybe a change soon!!

just leave your out in the rain overnight....it really works and you can't beat the price
Sorry but I have never heard of rain dissolving road tar!

That's what I usually do! But I doubt it would remove the tar that the OP had on his car.
Unless it was acid rain!!

Cheers for all the replies, found a great place, wash, take off all tar, polish then electric buffer, clean inside car 700bht coming from Central towards Chalong, go through first lights, car wash is just before 7/11 excellent service!!
Called in at Home works car place first, they wanted 3400bht, <deleted> off!!

Used the one mentioned in Chao Fa West Rd recently for a car wash.
Cost 250 baht, no complaints.
Cheers will give this a try.

Need a good car washer place as my March is covered in flakes of road tar,

Just last week there was a thread about that. Do a search and I'm sure you'll find it.
I did a search and it comes up with nothing!!

Never experienced that in 3yrs, getting there early is best, what is this Tardy thing all about?
I was trying to be subtle - tardy = http://www.thefreedictionary.com/tardy
Ah never experienced that there.

I used to go to immigration at the 08.30 time. Trouble is that there are a lot of people waiting and the officers tend to be tardy in starting processing folks. I have found that 11.00 is a better time to arrive. By then the busy period is over and officers are available.

If you arrive at 8am they open 8.30am you will never have a problem, in fact the last time I arrived at 8am the immigration very nice man let me in, all done a few minutes later!!

I don't really understand anyone saying that rain is stopping them from fishing, as you say most pay lakes have shelter, rain and cold stopped me from enjoying this great sport in the UK I am not going to let things like that stop me here!!
I suppose you could say it is less enjoyable in the rain, it rains a lot in Thailand, different people prefer different things which is all good!!
Sure there are shelters, but i just feel its less enjoyable. I got many things to do not only fishing so when it rains a lot i just switch a bit.
Which is fair enough!! Still nothing from a certain person, I am thinking he is now fishing the big lake in the sky!!

Ironic.
I suspect we'd get a lot more participation if some regulars didn't bash and flame the crap out of everyone who fishes how, where, or with whom they don't like, or contributes in a way that doesn't suit them.
Go back and read a few threads. If you still wonder why there are thousands of foreign anglers in Thailand and only a few post here, and even fewer a second time, then read some more until you have the answer.
Show me one thread on tv that has not contained insults etc,it's not good but it is impossible to stop!! Some people for whatever reason like to destroy a good thread by being abusive, insulting or just posting sarcasm, I know the answer and there is no answer to the problem!!
It's like being back at school, you are told not to retaliate but instead to use the report option, if someone is banned they just come back as someone else, impossible to make these forums idiot free!!
I am off fishing for a week on Monday, who cares if it rains it is warm rain!! I to avoided to much fishing in the UK because when it rained it was freezing, plus you were always bothered by yobs wherever you fished etc god it's great here!!

Give Chaofa west apartments a go, first apartments on he right in the road to big budda.
Name is Chaofa west suites. Very nice place. Should be about 8k this time of the year.

Can be A/T or M/T. I had one, sold it because I was unhappy with it, simply did not enjoy the car. Fuel consumption is high BTW.
Interesting, what did you not like about it? Any numbers for high fuel consumption?
Thanks.
It just never felt right. Was driving Isuzu beforehand and am driving Mazda now, and with both cars it felt good.
About 10 k for 1 liter for 2.5 M/T. My present Mazda 2.2 A/T is cheaper, my 2.5 Isuzu M/T managed about 1-13 or 14, my 3 liter A/T Isuzu also about 1-10.
Ok, thanks for the info, i'll see if any one else has any imput. I asked for a test drive but normal old story " no test drive mister". same old same old.
No test drive no buy mister!! Who would buy something costing several hundred thousand bht without first trying it?

I'm over Thai fishing parks, they are all pretty much the same.
Natural lakes either too big or netted to hell by the Thai's.
My natural rivers polluted.
Fly fishing in Northern Thailand is still lovely but the rest just gets so dam_n boring here.
And like Rob says, this is not the best time of the year to be sitting outside...
It's not raining all of the time and it is always warm outside!!

Where are all the fishermen, this has to be the worst forum on Thai visa yet fishing is the biggest sport worldwide.

Your brakes are fine don't go so fast!!

i have had my white 3.2 wildtrak for nearly 2 months now and it's certainly worth the wait we waited over 8 months.
The truck is awesome I have had previous rangers but this is a whole new ball game.
I found the 2.2 engine had adequate power it will only be used as a passenger vehicle with light loads
If i still lived in Australia and towed boats or caravans i would definitely buy the 3.2 engine but not here its not needed
If you are going to carry 1000 pineapples or 1000 coconuts a pick-up is great, 4x4 is not needed unless you are a farmer!! Seriously though pick-ups are a very safe mode of transport.

But if i understand correctly your car will be registered and taxes will be paid, but you just don't have the white plates -
I mean, do you have a blue book and a tax sticker?I bought a new car on 6th April. Received my sticker and blue book in June. Still waiting for number plates. No red plates issued. I see a lot of cars without number plates.ing
The dealer tried to issue me a 'plate-less' car when I first went to collect it but I was having none of it. He ended up giving me a set of Red plates before I would take possession of the car. Since then, I have been looking out for 'plate-less' cars but have only sighted two cars so far.
Is the 'sticker' that the dealer gave to you the actual decal that sticks to the windshield or is it a paper based facsimile?
Also, how far from the top or bottom or bottom of the windshield is the proper location to attach the Road Tax sticker on a new car?TIT stick wherever you want!!

If it is a Nissan expect to wait 6 months!!
Delivery Of Ford Wildtfak From Phuket Ford Dealer

I was told recently that the reason for long waits is due to the majority of Rangers being made for export!!
