  1. I just got off the phone with Mint and the international roaming is 10 bucks per day or 40 bucks for 7 days. So each time I need an OTP from my US bank It will cost me 10 bucks. VERY lousy deal. If anyone comes up with a carrier that works for the banks sms, I'd sure be thankful to know. On that note, I tried both Google voice and skype (both paid) but neither worked for my banks.
  2. All great ideas. I will make a cover letter for her to bring in with her.
  3. Thanks all for the great info. I'm not going to worry about it. We've been married for 15 years.
  4. Sorry if in the wrong place. My Thai wife has an interview for her tourist visa at the US Consulate in Chiang Mai coming up soon. Any tips on how to prepare? What should she bring....I've heard bank records, copies of chanotes, marriage certificate. Any advice is appreciated.
  5. This is a great idea and even better is they have an LED on them that blinks when the internet is down. Plug it in somewhere you can see it and you'll know the internet is down. You will have to connect it wirelessly to the internet where you are but once connected (easy to do) you'll know. You will have to buy/make a short power cord for it. You do not need an output device for it to work. https://www.lazada.co.th/products/wifi-sonoff-i291272269-s483786280.html?c=&channelLpJumpArgs=&clickTrackInfo=query%3Asonoff%3Bnid%3A291272269%3Bsrc%3ALazadaMainSrp%3Brn%3Ab2cde86d5cc10ac6e7aa61577a9e7f36%3Bregion%3Ath%3Bsku%3A291272269_TH%3Bprice%3A142%3Bclient%3Adesktop%3Bsupplier_id%3A100100969%3Bpromotion_biz%3A%3Basc_category_id%3A12090%3Bitem_id%3A291272269%3Bsku_id%3A483786280%3Bshop_id%3A130677&fastshipping=0&freeshipping=0&fs_ab=2&fuse_fs=1&lang=en&location=Bangkok&price=142&priceCompare=&ratingscore=4.746212121212121&request_id=b2cde86d5cc10ac6e7aa61577a9e7f36&review=264&sale=2703&search=1&source=search&spm=a2o4m.searchlist.list.i40.5b915199bAnCuB&stock=1
  6. I had a parcel that was marked as delivered but never got here. Went to the post office. The postman came out and said he was sorry but it fell off his motorbike. The sender required I file a complaint at the post office so I could prove it was a delivery problem. They had me fill out a form and asked how much the product was worth. I put 1000 baht as I had paid around 35USD. He then said the delivery man would have to pay for it. I was clear that I didn't care who paid as I never got the product and they marked it as delivered. The next day the delivery guy showed up with the package which had been opened. He said someone turned it in saying they got it by mistake but didn't know until they opened it. Funny as he told me it fell off his bike. The product I ordered was there and was not damaged. All ended okay. I had been receiving stuff from AliExpress almost every day for about a year. I'm sure the postman was wondering what the farang kept getting. Once he realized he was going to pay 1000 baht for some LED lights he didn't need, they mysteriously found there way back to me. A close Thai friend lives in Saraburi and she has had many many things stolen over her lifetime of living there. She won't use the post office for anything.
  7. 20 people die and not one autopsy found the poisoning. Like I have always said here, if it "looks" like we did it, then it was done. Doesn't matter if it was done right.
  8. Same thing happened to me. For the longest time, the shipping price would not change between browsing price and logged in price. After I had purchased probably 10 or 15 items over about 6 months, then it changed. It would go from 30 to 44 or something like that each time. It wasn't the distance as they knew where i was from the start. I have no doubt they saw that I do purchase from Lazada regularly so they upped the shipping as they figure it won't change my decision. Just another way to add profit.
  9. Hello, I have an American friend who has been living in Thailand for about 10 years. He is currently staying on a Non-O-A visa that is extended each year. He needs to travel to America soon. He will obtain a re-entry permit from Immigration prior to leaving Thailand (as he has done in the past). There is no trouble for him to get to America. He is concerned about his ability to get back into Thailand. He is 82 years old and has been looking for the required Covid insurance to enter Thailand. He has not been able to find any company here nor in America that will offer the insurance due to his advanced age. I understand that if he were arriving in Thailand on a Tourist visa, he would require the Covid insurance. But holders of a yearly extension of a Non-O-A visa do not require insurance. As he will obtain a re-entry permit prior to leaving Thailand, will he need Covid insurance to return? To note, he has been double vaccinated here and will have his booster before he leaves the country. He is also happy to stay the required quarantine period at an approved hotel upon arrival. Any advice you can offer would be greatly appreciated. I have contacted the TAT but have not heard anything back as of yet. Thank you.
  10. I was certain the stogies had ended up on the commanders desk. Just wrote off the loss. When I got an email 3 months later from the guy I've been buying from for years, I was shocked. They came by EMS and had a return address. They were returned but by a "very slow boat". The same thing happened with the second box of 25. But I'm not going to try anymore. I'm just not that lucky. I'd sure like to know a good way to get some in.
  11. I had been shipping Cubans here starting about 15 years ago. Until 3 years or so ago, I never had a problem. Always from the same place, always shipped by normal post. I live in the North. A few years back I had 100 cigars shipped. I got a note from Customs to go to the office in MaeSai. Upon arrival, they showed me the parcel, told me cigars were in it and refused delivery to me. They said they would return the shipment. I was blown away when I got an email from my supplier 3 months later that they did indeed get the parcel back. Since then, I sent one bundle of 25 which was stopped and I did get that through with a 1600 baht "fee". Next one again of 25 was not allowed and they made it very clear to me that I would not get cigars through customs. I then sent a box to a friend in Chiang Mai and the same thing happened, they called him in and then said they would be returning it. So for at least 3 years now, I haven't been able to get my quality Cubans shipped in. I have been shipping them to a friend in the States that brings them with him on his travels here. Of course with Covid, I haven't seen anything new for quite a while. I'm down to about 100 left and only allow myself 2 a week. I'm really hoping the borders will open back up. I need a refill.
