  1. Got 3 boxes of Chang and a tray of cans for a friend that can't get out. This was a sudden announcement with no time to plan anything so everyone was rushing about today, it turns out it started the day before (2nd) but I bought beer from the 7/11 yesterday evening and there were no notices posted. Because of this I could get beer today but I was told in the shop it was only for today. I'm very sure if needed I could go to most momma poppa shops and get a few bottles of cold beer if required. This is a pointless exercise for no return as people who want a few beers will go searching for it now instead of being able to buy it in Big C or Makro etc along with their groceries.

  2. Do you feel bloated, if so it's possible you have a peptic ulcer?. The technical check is sticking a borescope down your throat and looking for the ulcer, (ok can only remember engineering term). They can can check by sound (like they did with me) and see the build up of gas. I mentioned I had this in a local pharmacy and I was recommended a drug called Lokit, I bought some but I did check online before I took any but I highly recommend it and it is supposed to be taken twice a day after meals but I found it works so well I only take one capsule a day. When Sheryl posts she can shoot the rest of us down in flames but when I was doing some online research it did say the same symptoms can be stomach cancer so please take medical advice from an expert.

  3. This thing about the masks is nuts about Thais getting angry with foreigners, where I live in Rayong most Thais are still not wearing masks although it's compulsory to wear in Makro, Big C etc. but so far here there don't seem to be complaints. If you walk into the 7/11's the staff have them rolled up until a customer comes in.

I wore a mask on the scooter anyway because of all the dust being thrown into the air.

There is a middle ground between deliberately spreading false rumors and being totally correct.

There is unintentionally spreading false rumors (because you believe the person who told it to you) and there is also actual facts being read into/elaborated.

Somebody has the flu, assumes it is COVID, tells others it is, but later it turns out it wasn't. Too late, already enshrined locally as fact and probably by the 3rd retelling up to 3 people with COVID.

Someone dies in the hospital, assumed immediately to have been a COVID death but maybe wasn't, same pattern makes the rounds and gets amplified.

Someone gets tested, that is all it takes to be assume COVID and by the time it reaches the 3rd person's ear it is 5 people and one of them died.

Not saying there are no cases in your BIL's town, but things people say based on what they have heard/assumed/been told by others are not very reliable in the best of times and least of all now.

I think the biggest problem is that we are not being updated like we would be if we were in our original countries. I can't find any clear information about the situation in Rayong, I'm not scared of the virus but I am wary and would like to be appraised of the infections in our state. Up until Saturday night the bars and restaurants were still open as normal here and even still today there were Bangkok tourists who had driven here, there is so much conflicting information such as Bangkok being in lockdown and travel between states being restricted. I realise there is a difference in education here and what the government tell their citizens but I would prefer the truth.

  5. There are reasons why people are falling for scammers because they are scared of falling foul of the immigration rules and looking for the easiest paths to stay legal. If immigration had given clear easy paths to staying legal without resorting to embassy letters, queuing in the sun at immigration etc there would be no scammers. Most of us know how this should be dealt with (and then you get an apologist poster like above) but as we all know this is Thailand and everything will always be done in the most convoluted and hardest way possible. I'm lucky that my marriage extension was admitted the beginning of Feb and accepted the beginning of this month. I really feel for these holiday makers still stuck here and scared & unsure of their futures especially when the host country is making them jump through hoops.

There is near universal consensus on Thai Visa that the numbers are unreported however I don't form that opinion based on a few anecdotal reports of virus sightings. Thai's love to gossip and as much as this virus is a nightmare it is a dream come true for spreading rumors.

I agree 100% with your view but I'm concerned about the lack of information regarding infections in Rayong (and elsewhere) especially now that after the emergency decree only the government is allowed to publish covid 19 news about Thailand infections. If anyone has a link to the latest official data I would be grateful.

  7. Not quite what you're asking for but give Epic browser a try, it has a built in free vpn and I use it to watch UK tv plus for internet banking if I want to be really secure. Epic also claims to be the most secure browser on the market so give it a try as it's 100% free. Obviously only the browser pages are going through a vpn not any programs but I did use Identity Cloaker for a number of years and that was successful in bypassing censorship in China, Egypt & Iran, only stopped using it through retirement.

ps it's compatible with 90 day reporting.

  8. I read the first page and then jumped to end so please don't flame me if I've repeated anything. I live in Rayong and I would estimate that about 60 to 70% of Thais are not wearing a face mask and the ordinary Thais in the street don't seem bothered about it including the neighbors in my street none of whom I've seen wear a mask. Even Makro with the notice on the door allowed people to shop last Friday without a mask. Possibly it will change now because the police clamped down over the weekend due to flaunting of the self isolation rules.

  9. Unless there are people going round deliberately spreading rumours these figures seem wrong. Over the weekend my BIL told my wife that near where he lives ( a town NE of Rayong city, not giving exact place scared of prison ) that 3 people had died and 6 were infected and the locals were scared now. My BIL is far from a rumour monger so he must believe it. Also, the same day I was told that a resort worker had been diagnosed with the infection and all this at the same time that the BIB clamped down in Rayong closing bars & restaurants except for takeaways and clearing the beach. This didn't stop people driving from Bangkok so where are the road blocks?

Wow, it turns into China now. Wasn't it easier to give a bloody mask and avoid all this nonsense confrontation? By the way Thai government hasn't officicially said that everyone must wear a mask at the moment. Different provinces and regions make up their own rules right now, which is unfair to tourists who are caught being unprepared for what to come.

here in Rayong more people without masks than wearing them

  11. A Russian family staying with us have been told not go swimming at Hat Mae Rhumpung beach, Ban Phe, Rayong by the national park wardens. I don't understand this as the beach is almost deserted so social distancing not really required, the beach is 12km long so I'm fairly sure looking at the amount of people on the beach yesterday that families could have 100's of metres of beach to themselves.

Last monday , long time ago , time changes .

Fyi , pork in short supply @ the local markets.

This is just the beginning, of  the end ...

The two markets here have been stopped so enterprising traders have set up stalls opposite Tesco Lotus in the evening. As we're by the sea there were excellent fish stalls, wonder where they are selling now?.
