  1. Thank you brianthainess, however he's only 10 at the moment anyway 😊 That sounds like a nightmare scenario.. one which I will try my best to avoid 😄 Hi thaibeachlovers, thanks for your reply. You make a very point here, one which I hadn't taken into consideration. Thank you Thank you stupidfarang, appreciate your message here 👍 Thank you scorecard 👍 Once again thank you Georgealbert! Extra mile again 👍👍😊
  2. Thank you for your reply theoldgit, I am very grateful of the advice on here regarding this. I will renew his passport in the UK for sure as he will be staying for a long time 👍 Thank you again Georgealbert 👍😊
  3. Georgealbert, thank you so much for going the extra mile there 👍👍👍 I really appreciate that! Glad I asked on here now 😊
  4. Hi Woof999, Ah yes he does! Actually he would have to exit on his Thai passport wouldn't he, I forgot about that (as he entered Thailand on it). Thanks for reminding me of that 😊👍
  5. Hello everyone, I have tried to Google this and I know about the six month passport validity rule for travelling TO another country, say for a holiday, but I can't tell for sure if it applies to travelling back home. I'm looking at booking a flight for my son (with his Thai mum) to travel home to UK in early April but his UK passport expiry date is April 21st. As he's travelling home to England and staying in England, does anyone know if this will be an issue? Thanks everyone for any input.
  6. Hello, I've been in Thailand since July last year and I've definitely noticed Thais wearing them less and less compared to when I arrived ????
  7. Thanks Orinoco, had the oil changed and the bike checked over yesterday, also the shop guy said he could not fault the bike so I will just have to accept that I made a mess of changing gear on that occasion ???? One thing for sure now is that when I'm waiting at traffic lights, I make sure I am way to the side and not in front of any other bikes or cars.. paranoid of it happening again ????
  8. Hi Orinoco, thanks for your reply! ???? Sorry I should have been clearer, the bike is about a year old but was bought brand new by my missus ???? That being said, I reckon is it actually due for an oil change any way so I'll take it in tomorrow and get them to have a look over it at the same time ???? thanks for your input ????????
  9. Thanks Lacessit ???????? Hi Orinoco, it's not a second hand bike, it was bought brand new by my missus ???? Oil level checked today based on your reply, and can confirm it is correct level ???? Thanks for your input ???????? Hi Richard, thanks a lot for your input. I will have the bike checked out for sure and the fuel filter etc and up to now I haven't been able to re-produce what happened but I will keep trying in my apartment car park every morning ???????? Hi papa al, thankd for your reply ???? yeah the bike has been in daily use from brand new so really not sure. I'm still swaying towards the 'user error' post earlier ???? Hi Phnom Penh, I think you might be right ???????? Hi Gsxrnz, thanks for your reply ???? Good to hear that it can be done, like I said I feel I shifted too early and it just took my by surprise the way it just stopped so suddenly ????‍♂️ Hi Orinoco, sorry for the slow reply here, it was bought brand new by my missus and has only ever been used by her or myself ???????? ???????? Hi VocalNeal, thanks for your reply, definitely pulled away in 1st, I have OCD about being in 1st gear at lights ???? ???????? Hi Richard, thanks for your reply, it's a Yamaha Finn 115i, very basic machine owned from new by my missus I think less than a year old ???????? ???????? ???????? Hi richard, thanks for your reply, I still haven't been able to recreate the issue but keep trying to do so in my apartment car park ???????? ????????
  10. Hi KhunBENQ, thanks for your replies, I'm also around 80kg so I will give it a try taking off in 2nd ???? This is also sounding like good advice, I've been transfixed on the idea that I somehow stalled the bike with my own doing but in the case of a fuel supply issue it could cause this to happen ????
  11. Hi Peter, thanks for your reply, I only ever fill up at PTT stations but good suggestion and something I was not aware of ???????? Thanks Lacessit, good idea to try and recreate the problem, just would love to understand exactly what happened so I can make sure I don't do it again ???? Re the accelerator cable, the bike is less than a year but I will have it checked out regardless, thanks again ????????
  12. It's the only thing I can think back of that might be the cause, it was a very weird thing to happen and caught me completely out of the blue ????‍♂️
  13. Hi everyone, I have been living in Thailand for just over 3 months now and have got myself a Yamaha Finn 115i semi-automatic motorcycle. I've been using this motorcycle trouble free for well over 6 weeks now but this morning something happened which really but the frighteners up me. I was stopped at a red light waiting to turn right, lots of other motorcycles and cars behind me etc, light turns green and I'm already in 1st and pull away, I selected 2nd gear after just taking off and suddenly my motorcycle came to a dead stop, throwing me forward like as though I had stalled it and the motorcycle behind rammed straight into my number plate and rear lights ???? number plate all bent and lights pushed up but nothing major. Luckily he was ok and so was I but it's really knocked my confidence and I am trying to understand what happened - maybe some of you more experienced riders can help? I feel as though I might have selected 2nd gear a bit too early after the lights turned green but I was told that these semi-automatic motorcycles can't stall, as you can leave them in any gear with the engine running etc. So what on earth did I do wrong this morning?? ????‍♂️ I keep thinking how lucky that it wasn't a big car or a coach that rammed into me, man I would've been flattened ???? Thanks in advance
  14. Did you not read my last post ???? She didn't take my advice anyway as she is smarter than me ????‍♂️
  15. Well just got off to the phone to the wife, turns out she is happy as Larry there for now as she can sleep for the next 48 hours in true Thai fashion! ???? Travelling is absolutely no fun these days is it gents.. ????
  16. Hello, My wife (Thai) travelled to Thailand on her own on January 3rd under the Test & Go scheme. She had Covid a couple of weeks before she left the UK but was able to produce a negative PCR test before her flight, along with a doctors letter of proof of recovery from Covid-19. Thinking everything would be fine, surprise surprise the Thai RT-PCR test has come back Positive. (That was on the 4th Jan) She is currently stuck in the Test & Go hotel (Sinsuvarn Airport Suite) despite showing the staff all her documents; Double vaccine certificates and also had the booster Pre departure NEGATIVE RT-PCR test Letter of isolation period completed Medical assessment letter of Covid-19 recovery and no symptoms etc etc The hotel are saying she has to stay in the hotel another 1-2 nights while they check her covid again but I feel they are just taking advantage of her. I've told her to just leave and if they call the police then so what as she has all proof she needs etc, but she is too worried to do that. Is there any number she can call and ask for advice or can anyone here offer any advice I could pass back to her? Surely the hotel have no right to make her stay there any longer?? I advised against travelling to Thailand now but she needs to see her grandad who is very old and frail and not in good health. Thanks if anyone can offer any advice
  17. Hi MollyGP, Are the email addresses you're using @outlook.com by any chance? I tried multiple @outlook.com accounts but they all did the same thing, so I then tried my dad's @blueyonder.co.uk email address and it worked first time. I think it might have something to do with a feature of Outlook called 'Safe links', where links sent in email addresses are modified to stop malware and ransomware. However I disabled that feature and tried again but the same result when clicking the 'verify account' link. Have you got another email provider you could try?
  18. Well listen to this then, my wife (Thai) can no longer use her Bangkok Bank ATM card since we returned to Thailand. Apparently they changed the PIN system to 6 digits while we were in England where we live. My wife went to Bangkok Bank branch where the account was originally opened and she was told she would have to report her ATM card missing at the police station in order for them to issue her a new card... unbelievable ????
  19. Swiss1960, you say the flaws are obvious but really they aren't ???? Then in your second paragraph you say "At that time, your kids would be on their own, need their own visas etc". Well according to immigration, that's the status they are now LOL.. They have to have a visa NOW, even as Thai kids with renewed THAI passports. Can't you see how stupid that is? Then you mention my kids not needing to work, how do you know anything about their situation? For all you know, at age 18 they could be inheriting millions ???? Anyway thanks for your input buddy ????
  20. The timing of your reply was perfect... I was just asking my youngest before what he wants to do when he is grown up, to which he replied 'I want to be an airplane'. I said do you mean pilot... ha ha we've got some work to do I reckon! ????
  21. Thanks for all the replies gents and ladies if any. It seems like no one has actually tried this method. Unless things change I reckon it's worth a go.. got to be worth a shot ????
