  1. Ladies and Gents.

I wonder if anybody can give some advice? I have recently been purchasing modest amounts of fashion jewellery (beaded necklaces etc.) for resale. A large amount of it is 'Made in Thailand'. As I take holidays in Thailand, I would be interested in purchasing a quantity direct on my next visit, if anyone can suggest any possible locations.

  2. Ladies and Gents.

Please excuse if I posting this in the incorrect place. However, it seems the spot where the information may be most readily available.

My wife and I have just returned from our first trip to Thailand. We loved it especially the more rural areas.

We have a fancy to go again for rather longer. While there it would be interesting to cross the three obvious borders. This can preumably done, under certain circumstances in certain places. How can this be done? Where can this be done? Can one stay a couple of days, or is it only over and back in the same day? What are the most suitable locations? Any advise on this subject would be much appreciated.

  3. Please excuse another dumb question from a first timer. I'm sure I have read somewhere of a sightseeing trip, especially laid on for people like us. I now can't find it. Can anybody put me right, nearest Skytrain station maybe. Or was it only in my imagination.

  4. Thanks for the information. At least I shall know where to take a look. Unfortunately, I shall be leaving here on Sunday morning, so will not be able to see the results of your efforts, so please do not go to any trouble on my behalf.

    Best Wishes

  5. In Chiang Mai for a few days next week. First time visitors. My wife has expressed an interest in a leather jacket.

Can't find much information on the subject. I don't even know if Thailand is a sensible place to look for such a thing. Any suggestions, help, possible locations, prices etc. would be appreciated.

  6. Ladies and Gents

Travelling to Thailand for the first time in a couple of weeks. My wife and I are both in our late 50s. Both quite healthy. We are spending four nights in Bangkok at the end of our trip. We will no doubt spend the days doing the usual tourist things, site seeing, shopping etc. We are staying near a Sky-Train Station, and taxis would not be a problem. Fortunately we are not on a particularly tight budget.

A few recommendations for the evenings would be appreciated. We both enjoy a drink or three. We would not be into many of the things that Bangkok nightlife is noted for. A few nice bars, indoor and outdoor, maybe with a view, or just to sit and watch the world go by.

    Any suggestions would be welcome.

  7. I am visiting Kanchanaburi for a few days in February. It is our first visit. We have booked into The Felix.

I can't really get any mental picture of the place. I understand the hotel is near 'The Bridge'. is it also near town? Close enough to go for a walk into town in the evening, or will we need transport?

    Any comments would be welcome

  8. Ladies & Gents

I shall be in Chiang Mai for a brief stay next month. I hope to make time for one round of golf. I will be staying in town, and will be using public transport, presumably a taxi. Your recomendations would be appreciated.

  9. Dear Pro thai expat.

Yes you are spot on. Maybe I didn't make myself too clear. "DUVET" dead right. It's the covers, as described, two big sheets sewn together to form a big sack. Thats what I'm interested in.

We have a very large double bed. 6ft. square. Sometimes called Super King.

I now live in the west of Ireland. Very Beautiful, but not the best for shopping, very difficult to get any sort of selection.

I just wondered whether with the reputation for wonderful material, colours patterns etc. Chiang Mai might be a good place to look.

    Regards

  10. A real long shot.

I have never travelled to Chiang Mai. First trip coming up in February. Does it ever get cold enough for people to use quilts on their beds? If so, has anybody ever seen covers for sale?

    Any advice appreciated

  11. When in LOS I hire a car and am not normally asked for a driving licence. However, last week I was. I have licences from several countries and also had an International Permit - the car hire clerk said "that's the best one"!

I was stopped in many road blocks over the new year and it was obvious that the police had no idea what they were looking at - they were more interested in passport details. Some asked if I had a licence then did not want to see it!

I guess the situation may have been quite different had I been involved in a serious accident.
