  1. Man, how many hours of whining you waste for your replies here. Some teens on their motorbikes had some fun with you.

Teens do things like this, scaring people. You are the perfect victim.

And what you want to do to avoid simular situations? Wearing a camera on helmet, take photos?

The eastern roads are full of these little moslem punks, especially at school holidays, bad but harmless idiots. I ride my bike there at least three times a week, I had a lot of this "situations".

Be a sportsman, not a forum whiner!

  2. Big C Patong has the french(?) brand Casino. They have different tastes from different countries, Guatemala, Mexico, Ethiopia but 100% arabica beans. About 150 Bt./250gr. Packed in the right way, milled with a breathing hole. You can smell the aroma. And another sort is vacuum packed, ca. 120bt. Not worse.

Tastes completly simular to what you buy in european supermarkets. Not this black overroasted stinky something like the Thai robusta sh...

All the thai and asia coffee are the cheap robusta beans, mostly from Vietnam. Robusta is for people with no taste. Thais try to sell it completely overpriced to all the idoits with no idea what a coffee is and how to prepare it to have the full flavour.

Starbucks is overpriced, overroasted too and overestimated. Very often to long in the shop, all the aroma is gone.

To know more about the content just turn around the packege and have a look and read. When it's not 100% Arabica - leave it.

  3. As a German it is not so easy to find open minded people with interesting and various views. There is a german forum for expats but it is definite boring. Never felt the wish to communicate with that people.

That's why I dared to open a thread here. I really didn't know that my English is so poor. From mouth to mouth it is not so hard in comparation to writing. But thanks for all open words not only regarding to this topic.

Btw. my Thai is not bad after 4 y. here. I learned a lot already, talk to my wife ca. 20% in her language. Most of shopping, thalat, ordering in restaurant etc. I do in Thai.

Back to the opening theme I have really to consider if I am ready for relationship. I read so many touching things here about members relationships. I am fare away from this.

For example I like to stay alone most of the time. And so she do. Daytime I am busy with all the small activities. And nighttime I sit in "my" pavilion in the garden busy with my photos, internet, german TV on ipad while she stay the house. Distance of some meters only but it is ok for both of us.

Another example: Tonite we go out, but in different bars. Later we find together and go home so of course.

I feel not so bad, it is what I want actually. Now. But it was different in the beginning. Maybe a normal development after some time? Maybe I lost my love for her already and just name it laziness?

Btw, I very appriciate the discussion here. Impossible to have it this way in the german forum.

  4. I have to confess we are not really married. Stay together now one and a half y. At any time she decided we are married (sami/mia). In public and for her friends we are married. Not for my people of course.

In the beginning it was funny, now I do not care. Only words.

To complete I am not a health freak, drink my beer, like my weekly binge, but fill my day with little things. No TV does not mean no screen. I look my home TV in Ipad. Only to have this clear.

The age gap is big, she is 28, I am 53. In my opinion not really conclusive regarding to my problem.

Yes, I can try to take her how she is. People are different. She is very pretty, slim, hour glass shaping, for me a perfect 9.

Externally I cannot get something better. She give me no reasons to be jealous, she keep our money together.

When I come home from some activities all work in the house is done (my job is outside and garden), soup is simmering etc.

But I can be sure tv is to hear befor I do one step into the house. Drive me crazy. Nothing what she do has any sense. Her English was quite good in the beginning but gets worse due to her negligence and laziness to find the right words and pronounce right. No effords to improve her skills.

I not showed her my irritatation until now. In her eyes she makes nothing wrong and she loves me.

Probably is everything my fault. Not loose and relaxed enough. But on the other side I can not force myselfe to be another person.

I catch myself now more and more to think obout better staying alone. Not sure if I really love her anymore. And can save a lot of money.

  5. A question to all the henpecked husbands out there:

How lazy/hard working is your thai wife?

I ask due to the behavior of my spouse. To be honest she is not really lazy because she do "her duty" in the house very well. No reason to complain.

This keeps her busy around 1 or 2 hours daily. The rest of her day is looking gaga TV, play with Ipad, sleeping.

No move to much, no step to much, no intellectual input. No lerning English, no hobby, no sport.

She studied at university but know nothing. Not even about her home country. Highest mountain, her own religion or history not nessessary to dig very deep. May be you know how it is when you ask something to your wife and she cannot answer. Must be this losing face thing. Get sour.

We stay together one year now. The exciting things are done, sexual charme decreases. What left is her behavior what is completely different from mine. One day she try to keep on her sleeping weare all day. Change for what if she stay in the house. I gave her my opinion about this.

Not that I am a hard worker, I am early retired, not working here. But I am sportive, ride my bike or run daily, read papers, write mails to my friends, never look TV except it is football. Go to the sauna and have some conversation.

Am I hypercritical, what are your experiences? Time to leave?

  6. Wrong forum for your question!

What answers do you expect from people they (still) live here?

For a more complex view you have to find people they stood here and decided to leave. This is much more interesting, believe me.

I live here too but I am far away from any shouting and cheering like some posters here do.

You will like man things on Phuket and you will hate a lot too. Everything up from your personality, your wishes and your expectations.

The tendency and development in living quality is clearly negativ. Unfortunatly the problems are increasing rapidly. The nice niches are smaller und more difficult to find.

  7. OHA! World class tourists in a world class destination!

Sometimes I really think all idiots of the world unite in Patong.

I travelt a lot in my life but it is hard to remember I have seen so many uneducated lower class people somewhere else.

Bad behavior, no manners, unpoliteness, aggressivity is not an exception but normally.

And the Thais? They think all the big big falang country must be like this. We really have not to complain if we not get respect.

I feel no pity for this guy. And I catch myself more and more to say ok, this is election by lacking brain. Doesn't matter if Thai lunatics in traffic or another falang moron in Patong not knowing basic rules.

Thailand made me bitter in the recent years, it is not nice and I am not happy about this. Sorry, substitute Thailand with Phuket to be fair.

  8. House sitting is a good possibility to have somebody. The house is occupied, not so easy to clear up for burglars. But to be honest, I want to save some of my costs too. I will loose 60.000 Baht and would be very satisfied when a part of come back.

I have some time left and try to place some adds and will see.

May be some of you keep it in mind .... Just in case.....

    Thanks for all replies

  9. I have a house in Kamala, rent is paid for a year in advance. Fully equipped, nice and quiet, pool and garden etc.

But I have to go home for 3 month from september.

Now I need some advice what the best is to do. Try to rent it what my favorite is due to the incoming rent. I have notonlythe rent but internet too. But nobody know wht kind of people will come in this case.

Or is it better to take out the values and leave it empty?

Another thing is house sitting. Free of the rent but cares for running costs.

Is there a web page for cases like this?

I am sure many of forum members have dealt this situation already.

    Thanks for advices!

  10. I am quite sure to got the Dengue, starting yesterday in the morning. Fever around 39/40 but outrageousy head ache behind the eyes. Pain in bones, very weak and tired.

I live in Thailand for 3 years now, Kamala, Phuket. After some net reserche I found out there is no treatment. Only effect reducing.

What I do now ist taking Paracetamol, not more then 6 a day and wrapping towels with icewater orund neck/chest/face.

Due to very bad experiences with thai doctors I want to avoid hospital as long as possible. While I write this my temperatur is 39,5.

Am I too reckless? Who of you is thru with Dengue?

    Thank you for help.

  11. This movie is a big kitsch in my eyes. No message sentiments only. Esoteric blown up bubble.

But nice to watch, the photographer knows his job.

In many points I agree with aneliane and I am convinced many posters here are with her. After my opinion some people here only fight with her for the reason she is not so good in interaction and had some previos threads going in "wrong direction"?
