Thai condo market dominated by Chinese and Russian investors
LALes replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
When I bought my condo 17 years ago, There was not a chinese, russian or indian in sight. This is the brave new world. I wouldn't buy anything in Thailand now without first living in the building for 6 months. -
Turning 50 next year, what to do about visa
LALes replied to parafareno's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
One of the best things about being over 50 (if there are any benefits) is the retirement visa. Get it soon and get it in Thailand. So much better and easier than doing it in your home country. -
Big day in Jomtien is the 19th. Head for the hills!!

Pattaya Is Already A World-Class Destination, Says Thai Real Estate Experts
LALes replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
"Leaping growth in the next 5 years". Maybe I'll be able to finally get my money back if I sell my condo then. What a joke. 17 years in and no increase in property values. -
They can't deport these A-holes fast enough.

I went to Chulalangkorn Hospital in BKK for one in 2017 when I went to Brazil. No one asked to see it when I came back to Thailand.

Which would you rather have as tourists in your country? Brits, Russians or Chinese?

I thought the Russians took over all the beaches in Spain. Is that true?

Thai-China high-speed rail set to boost ASEAN connectivity
LALes replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Once this project gets going, look for the Kra Canal discussions to be revived for the umpteenth time. China's main goal is to circumvent US containment on the South China Sea. Phase One of the plan is the rail line. Phase Two is the canal that eliminates the need for traffic thru Singapore and a direct outlet to the Indian Ocean. They will never give up on this plan. -

Rouble trouble: Russian woman fined for assaulting pregnant Thai

Thailand knows who butters their bread. Preferential treatment for Russians. Westerners or Thais? You're on your own. -
Northern Thailand braces for severe air pollution crisis
LALes replied to webfact's topic in Chiang Mai News
Bracing for? You mean the crap they've been dealing with lately doesn't register? Unbelievable. Who writes this idiocy? -
Could have something to do with a very, large nation to the north.

My girlfriend/wife is 35 years younger.......
LALes replied to Carlotta's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Typical, smug, self righteous crap we've been hearing from Western women here in Thailand for 30+ years. If you don't like it, go home. -
Jimmy Dore. I love to watch him take down US politicians on both sides of the aisle.

Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi soars to seventh heaven in luxury airport rankings
LALes replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
Yeah, the survey is definitely for the Business Class traveller. For the rest of us swine, it sucks. Unless you like overpriced Burger King and Taco Bell, there's not much to choose from at the airport. Its all pretty much low end stuff at ridiculously high prices. -
I've been in Jomtien for 17 years. Trust me, its April 12-19. With the new PM promising bigger and better Songkran, who knows what will happen this year. Making my annual escape by April 8 and return on 22. Jomtien Beach Rd on the 19th is a perfect vision of hell on earth.

Brothel bust: Thai asylum seeker facing seven years behind bars in UK
LALes replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Its OK, Somchai. Just a wai and a 1,000 baht fine and you'll be on your way. NOT!! -
Why spend $1,000 for a Tumi or Rimowa when you can get a cheapo bag for $100. Sure, the wheels are gonna break but if its within a year it should be fixed on warranty. I had a Thai made bag from Central and they fixed the wheels for me on warranty. It took 6 weeks but I got it done. Even if they don't fix the wheels, get a new bag for $100 and start over. I can't see paying a Grand for a bag. Are the wheels on a Tumi made of Titanium? I doubt it. You can get 10 decent bags for 1 Tumi.
