  1. When I first came to Thailand in 2004 I noticed that most of the road users used their horns to let people know they were there in a friendly way. I even remarked to friends back home about how the Thais correctly use the horn as a warning of their presence. At the time I was a Policeman and had had a few dealings with cases of road rage in my home country, Australia. Mind you there were a lot less cars on Thai roads back then as hardly any poor Thais could afford to own a car. Then came the Government incentives to buy a car and, suddenly the roads became choked and manners flew out the door.
  2. I received what appears to be the same scam via sms. The sms told me a parcel could not be delivered due to problams with the address and to open the URL in the message to rectify the problem by updating my address which I did with the help of my wife as the webpage was in Thai, after updating the address I was infromed that I would have to pay 10.50 baht for the change to be made and to provide credit/debit card details to pay, that's when my scam alert kicked in and I closed the page. It looked legit because the sms was in English but the Thai Post webpage was in Thai which made me think it was legit as the scammers would want you to believe that too, the problem with the webpage that it had a settings button and a drop down menu button but neither worked.
  3. Me too, I haven't a clue about what he's saying CS? Russia, Lithuania? Wise is now a recognised Bank in Australia.
  4. I only watch shows or movies with sub titles now as can't understand most of what they say.
  5. Judging by the number of teenage mothers walking around carrying babies at my local market here in rural Surin yesterday there is no problem, getting the them to work could be a problem though, when they grow up.
  6. I was on this ride with my daughter 2 weeks ago at the Surin Elephant Festival against my better judgement but relented as my daughter really wanted to go on it. After we finished our ride the thing was stopped for about 10 minutes while the carnies did some maintenence! VID20231119142246.mp4
  7. I have just done my first Marriage extension and will be approved in about 3 weeks. The home visit happened yesterday. I put the 400,000 baht in the bank about 4 months ago with the intention of just keeping it there forever so it is ready to go next year, however, I have just realised that, unlike the retirement extension, I can actually spend all or part of the money. Is this true? It doesn't have to stay in the account for a certain amount of time after the extension is granted? I know it has to be seasoned for at least 3 months before applying which would mean finding that money again and topping up the account. We need a new car and I was struggling to find enough for the deposit as most of my money is tied up in shares and selling a portion now would be foolish as they are below value at the moment. I could use part of the Visa money to pay the deosit then sell the required amount of hares later when they are worth more. Please, no lectures about about being foolish and the share price may not got up.
  8. ResMed AirSense 10 Auto set. Only used about 8 times, bought from Aliz Sleepcare new early August. Comes with 2 pillow masks.
  9. Yes, I expect to drop the advertised price as per normal, all offers considered.
  10. Been on Baht Sold for about a month and no takers. Paid 53,000 baht and been used about 8 times. I just don't like it.
  11. I am trying to sell a near new CPAP machine in Surin with no luck. I am spending the school holidays in Pattaya and was wondering if there are any Cash Converters type shops around town. If so, where. It is advertised on the usual places like Baht Sold and Facebook Marketplace with no luck.
  12. Maybe your part of Surin but here in Surin about 15 klms east of Robinson we are inundated with water, the dams are full as are the rice fields and there is some minor flooding. The farmers are pumpimg water out of their fields. Amazing what a distance or about 70 ks can do, but then you are closer to mountains than us.
  13. The aged pension is means tested so they take into account all your assets. Some assets like you own home are exempt but cash in the bank is not.
  14. I may be wrong but I'm pretty sure the OP could lose his Centrelink pension by moving to Thailand. There are some grey areas in relation to this happening and, as I said, I may be wrong. In Australia the aged pension is different to those in most other countries.
  15. I have used this mask for 2 nights and hated it, the shop gave me one on loan, they also loaned me a mouth and nose mask and I hated it too. I slept last night without the device and had a pretty good sleep. I quickly went in to mouth breathing mode though as I didn't use the mouth tape. I'll try the tape tonight after doing a bit of research on the net today. It's going to take a lot of convincing for me to use the device again though. Now I just have to work out what to do with it.
  16. Thanks for your advice my friend and I understand where you're coming from, I'll not use it for a couple of nights and see what happens. I really don't think it could be worse than the night I had last night, I must have had a mask leak as I woke several times with air rushing everywhere. I have tried all the other masks, nasal, nasal and mouth and hated them, I'm using a lightweight thing that just fits over your nostrils and I find it uncomfortable, my other option is to buy the pillows and give them a go but they are expensive here. I'm not even sure I have apneas, I think I just need to solve my mouth breathing at night.
  17. I'm selling my near new ResMed Auto Sense 10 as I don't like using it.
  18. Unfortunately, I'm full time living here mate. Thanks for the advice though. I have bought a CPAP machine and am currently working out how to successfully use it, which may take a while.
  19. Oh, how I miss the old Pattaya, no riff raff, no problems, everybody happy, beautiful women chasing you, lots of small open air bars, the list goes on.
  20. I wondered why the shelves were near empty when I went to buy my milk here is Surin.
  21. Have you seen how many Mitsubishi Expandas and pickups are out there? Up here in Issan there are a lot.
  22. Yes, thanks, I knew that but when and where? I live in lower Issan.
  23. I'm in the market for a second car and I want a pickup. How does one buy a repossessed car? I assume the Banks auction them but where?
