Exactly. A forever Racist country - at least the government is doing its best to continue to segregate Thais and foreigners into different Covid buckets. And extort insurance cover.- 130 replies

Mathematically speaking, if you pose a question that requires a favourable or negative reponse, the answer cannot be zero. You might remember that the Lib Dems coalition with Cameron Tories in 2010 proclaimed in Cleggs prospectus that they would involve the coalition government in treating all ex pats pensions the same as in the UK. That never happened, because it was dropped, not because it required an answer.

You don't really want to go there. The UK government is attempting to make radical changes in pension entitlements, including age limits. It's enough to cause unrest, and the fact that we already suffer doesn't stop the pensioners complaining. I think this is the most inappropriate time to petition the Gov who are under seige with public unrest as cost of living escalates. I reckon our chance of success is close to zero.

And I'm still paying UK income tax, while not a lot, it's a slap in the face. I qualified for a full state pension when I was aged 61, but still they took NIC for the next four years. IMO, the reason the government is not paying Ex pats a full pension rise is that those pensioners in the UK will bleat that they are not being looked after.

Another step closer to when humans destroy the planet. Rather than spend fortunes on weapons, spend it on exterminating Putin. Clearly he hasn't followed Tolstoy - 'How Much Land Does a Man Need?' -
Or have natural immunity, which is what China should be realising, providing hospitals are not overloaded with serious medical condition cases.

In Thailand, the war in Ukraine divides the generations

I am old, and I'm waiting for Putin to be exterminated, and fed limb to limb to pigs, hopefully ASAP. One freaking man holding the world to ransom while western countries sit on their butts. -
Any possible Songkran COVID-19 surge will be manageable – MoPH

Same old diatribe. give it a rest. Covid is here to stay, and we will live or die with it. As for vaxxes, I haven't heard that any protect against being infected by the EX variant. If you're healthy with no serious medical issues, you shouldn't freeze with fear every time yet another Public health post is published on this site. -
This is the crucial statement from the above: Susan Hopkins, UKHSA chief medical adviser, told South China Morning Post that XE had shown a variable growth rate but the agency could not yet confirm whether it had a true growth advantage. “So far there is not enough evidence to draw conclusions about transmissibility, severity or vaccine effectiveness.”

The majority of UK deaths was at the beginning of the pandemic when there was no vaxxes and no medical understanding of what treatment would save lives. In contrast, for whatever reason, Thailand had managed to restrict the number of foreigners entering the country - or had simply not counted or released the death numbers. Which brings us to the current situation where the UK are opening up while Thailand isn't. So it's like comparing apples with pears, both are fruits but not the same.

Unfortunately, Putin has been spouting lies on Russian TV totally in contrast to the reality that media pictures shows. And the oldies watching believe it's the Ukrainian Hitlers that caused the war and must be exterminated by the great Russian saviours. The good news from Ukrainian intelligence - if to be believed with more than a pinch of salt - is that some of the Russian Oligarches are seeking to replace Putin before he threatens to instigate WW3. Would you pay THB25K to watch Liverpool v United in a friendly?

They would be better off all playing for free and getting fans donating for Ukraine refugees stuck in Thailand. As for fans, same principle. Donate what you can. -
And not helped by the government shutting down those businesses that employ the poorest, who must be desperate, and who turn to drugs instead just to relieve their mental pain. For once and for all, let people live with freaking Covid and let everyone be set free from these draconian laws. Or get out and let others bring back democracy.

I use an agent for income renewal, because it makes me mad that IMM require about a half-dozen different completed and proven income statements emanating from abroad that all confirm I 've followed their draconian laws that get worse every freaking year. Fortunately my BKK bank branch can and does provide all that's required to the agent on my behalf despite it being a pain in the neck for them as well. None of my financial information bypasses the rules - and I take offence that you imply it's the norm when using an agent. Apologies accepted.

While I support your view, I think the PM is relating to Thai society who descend en masse to those huge buffet open-air 'restaurants' who can hold hundreds of clientele throughout an evening. Whether or not the same emphasis on 'a one cap fits all' approach affects all smaller restaurants has never been discerned - albeit many Farang pseudo bars have turned their drinking premises into a so-called restaurant. As for more Covid fear-mongers amongst the medical community citing that new variants will become more deadly, so be it, there are worse things threatening the planet.

Government Confirms Songkran Celebrations to Proceed Next Month

It would seem the Omicron B variant has taken over, and while it protects from people catching Delta the vaxxes were not designed to cater for Omicron, so there will be less people protected, however how many vaxxes are taken - which IMO is also an immune system health concern. And then it will rely on people's natural immunity if they have recovered from Covid, but are still able to be infected, and general health as to whether hospital treatment is needed or not. The worst medical condition that I understand for victims is a continuing bout of Long Covid caused by Omicron. A friend of mine from the UK continues to be badly affected.
