Avast works great.
I only use the theft protection part and have uninstalled the virus scanner etc. part.
Yesterday came to Thailand and switched to Truemove H SIM. I wondering why my mobile data and wifi were turned on automaticaly, no matter my settings. Well - it was Avast. Didn't even remember I had it installed and it couldn't be removed or turned off from the phone.
My phone had sent the location of phone and warning of it being stolen through email. The phone was marked stolen at the web portal where it can be locked, wiped, traced etc. and there I could mark the phone "found" and register the new SIM as trusted.
So... seems to work well :-)

One of my favourites must be Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier from Germany...
Was glad to recently notice that it is available in Chiangmai, and even cheaper than in my home country... pfff.
Bought a case (20 x 0,5 L) from Horeca Supply off Superhighway, the cost was 2000 THB + 140 THB tax.
Very reasonable for such a good beer imho.
They also have Erdinger, Warsteiner, Hoegaarden, Leffe, Chimay and who knows what else...

Where to find some in Chiangmai?
I have some packing needs...

Have to agree on OP on Rama... a lot of waiting (all doctors at general medicine were having a break at same time or something...) and overpriced service and medicines. And also, staff not telling us how long we have to wait, just reading cartoon or something.
My favourite hospital is McCormick, very efficient service and cheap. Nurses are busy, but still take the time to advice or take us to some place we need to go.
Lanna seems good too.

My favourite in Chiangmai is McCormick hospital, very fast and good service... and cheap.
Lanna seems also good, but i think quite a bit more expensive.
Rama is way overpriced and not even very efficient in my experience.

Bars, Don't got none.
Stay South.
Yep, nothing but waterbuffaloes here.
Oh well... waterbuffalo corpses now of course, due to floods.

Yep, Tiger Airways is ok.
Just flew with them week ago or so...
I think also Silk Air flies direct to Singapore some days...

But why no WUXGA displays on laptops sold in Thailand. THAT JUST SUCKS, and not in a good way.

I've never heard of any computers with built in ADSL modems. I mean, if you haven't purchased PCI ADSL modem card for it in the past.
Well anyways, better that you get ADSL router than USB modem. USB modems seem to be often more problematic. Also, you don't need to pick it up from TOT shop... any shop will do
Personaly I have SMC Barricade 7904WBRA ADSL2+ router with WLAN in use with TOT ADSL and I'm quite happy with it.

The only ones I've seen have been from Apple... here in Chiang Mai.
I'm a bit surprised how hard it's to find larger TFT sizes here in Thailand. And when they can be found, they seem to be quite overpriced. For example I've seen Viewsonic VP201b 20" 1600x1200 TFT in thailand for 57,000 THB, when in US it can be found for under 30,000 THB.
Have to have a look when I visit Singapore soon...
Meh, also... why can't I see any HP or Dell laptops with WUXGA display anywhere, that's 1900x1200 resolution.

I need to buy a new monitor.Whilst in the lovely city of Chiang Mai earlier this month I visited three different IT malls, but did not see any 20" or 21" TFT displays, only the standard sizes.
Should I buy one in Bangkok and bring it to CNX, or did anyone see 21" TFT flat screens in Chiang Mai?
Cheers, X-Pat

My TOT 1024/256Kbps is working fine... but I've also wondered why I'm not getting any bill for using it... been about 2 months now

couldn't edit for some reason... but anyway, I remembered wrong, not exactly near Riverside... nearer to highway, quite a bit
Has anyone tried the new restaurant... 4You is the name I think... at Charoenraj rd., not far from Riverside? -

Opened just the week before floods... maybe more at the bar side, but seems to have ok price/quality ratio with food also.

No problems with Godaddy here... I have couple of domains.
I host them elsewhere though.

I uset TOT 1024/256Kbps at Chiang Mai and it's pretty good.
Much better than what I expected...

Yep. I'm in CM.
Just using TOT as service provied, so in fact that would be KSC...
I heard TOT also uses Pacific, but my IP is always assigned from KSC range.

BTC is apparently a new company that is working with TOT in Chiang Mai. Who is your internet service provider? Are you in Chiang Mai? -
Now there's water at Thunghotel rd... soon I can swim to Carrefour...

Hmm...
What is BTC? Never heard of it...
I have TOT 1024/256Kbps ADSL and no problems with VOIP.

Our VOIP phone has finally arrived from North America and we've tried setting it up with no success. I'm looking for someone in the Chiang Mai area who konws a thing or two about these. We have a TOT line with BTC as the internet service provider.
Our VOIP service is Primus (they use the same equipment as vonage). If anyone here knows of a technician who can set this up for us, please pm me or respond to this message. Thanks

Quick correction.
Have to mark SIM trusted from phone. Otherwise it will report it stolen again after reboot. But yeah, works well :-)
