Sounds like he had another job on and did not want to lose the business so tried to string you along. sounds a bit more realistic than saying he did not want to do it but said yes anyway.

Many your job was very easy, but didn't pay enough ? or you take to whole day, driving back and forth to the job.

But anyway, he should have told him, he wasn't going to show. Very rude.

I have lived and worked in Thailand for over 5 months now, but I still don't have a work permit. This means I cannot open a bank account, legally own a motorbike or get a driver license. It sucks but I have to deal with it. Every month I simply receive my pay check in cash. My international license will expire next month however, so perhaps I need to take the full course of driving lessons, exam etc. Sucks.

If you are working in Thailand without a work permit. Then the bank account is the least of your worries.

You should get legal or stop working.

i wonder what happens if you just refuse to move out until you get your deposit back. i suspect they will just change the locks and you would have trouble getting your stuff back. also wonder if it is worth going to the local police station to show them the contract and offer them a cash reward to get the deposit back. cops actually work quite well when they are getting paid.

i sold my house last year and my new condo is not finished so i rented a house in the mean time. got one with the smallest deposit i could negotiate which was  5000thb. i know there is a good chance i will loose it. good luck and let us know how you get on.

Better to just leave. Turning on the bathtub water on the way out.

Actually this is not your home country here, and it makes a huge difference.

I agree with others, the only bad point of 7/11 food fresh might be the preservative.

But do they need preservative in frozen food ? Vegetables and fruit do not need them, I do not know about prepared dishes.

Hey guys, your replies are just what everybody is supposed to think since Moma told him, so I wonder if it is any difficult for you to think just a little bit out of the box and base you life on facts ?

I am in the food business. Export to other country. While I would say that if you freeze meat, chicken, seafood. Right after it is killed you will have food which will have less bacteria then food which has been sitting on chilled tables at 5 degrees.

You do lose flavor when food is food.

When you process, these same foods like 7/11 or many other companies. They are cooking the food. When you buy and microwave this food you are only re-heating. Same as if you cook a chicken eat only half of it and put it in your refrigerator. The next day or two days later you re-heat in a microwave. Still tastes ok, but you lose vitamins.

Please note that most Thai frozen food will have MSG in it. And before people say no, to this statement.

MSG can be called about 10 different names, and unless you google and the names, you will have no idea.

    cheers.

You obviously do not care about comparing like with like. If you buy all your food (imported ) from Villa then buying the same or similar in small town USA will be much, much less. You are seemingly here under protest, with no intention of adapting to Thai life, you compare an above average condo rent in Central Bangkok with living rent free in small town USA............

You are comparing one extreme with another.

If he spend 200,000 /month. Do you think he cares about buying anything at Villa Market. Including the girls standing on the corner beside Villa.

Never heard of Chicago, Los Angeles, Atlanta, or the SF Bay Area...and people say Americans don't travel.

For the op...you were likely living as a tourist so things seemed expensive. The major expenses of accomodation (rent let's say), food, transportation, and utilities three of the four can be significantly cheaper in Bangkok, while the forth (food) as you found, is often the same or more if eating a Western diet.

Only NY and LA have similar populations.

You can still rent a small apartment in Bangkok, with no rats, for 300/month. You get nothing for less then a 1,000 in NY.

Cook your own food and save a ton.

First you can try to read correctly, and then, you could try to understand.

You must know nothing if you think that your "fresh" thai food is good and healthy. Maybe you just landed ? Still dreaming ? Because this is of course wrong.

I am telling that your shhiitte oily thai food cooked in old dirty oil and made with the cheapest vegetables and ingredients  available, is certainly not as clean and good as 7/11 food. I do not speak for the rest of the world.

So it's obvious that the troll is you, or maybe a troll can think more than you <3

So you are wrong. Processed foods are not good for you, from any country.

If you want healthy food, buy fresh chicken, pork, and cook yourself. Cut for sandwiches.

Cook your own food, fresh vegetables, herbs, spices.

7/11 makes food the same as McDonald. It may taste good, but not really good for you.

They have to put preservatives so that the food can last 7 days at 5-7 degrees.

If you are talking Thai deep fried street food, I agree not good. If you are talking busy Thai restaurants. This food is much better then 7/11.

    cheers

Yes, although I told them it was lost as I imagine them requiring police reports etc. "Lost" is more simple. My roomate and I interrupted the invasion. We came home and went to put the key in the security gate and realized its cut. Two seconds later, a guy put a gun on us. He was waiting in the car while the other two were inside the apt complex robbing others. He directed us into the courtyard and put us face down with others. Some dude put a shotgun to my head. We thought we were dead. This was a friday 5pm. The building owner called police and a car came out for a few minutes after they left. That cop gave us a business card to call the Investigative unit. That unit told us to come in on Monday, they were busy!! After complaining, finally they sent a detective out at midnight and he dusted for prints for 10 mins and left.............

My lazy ass had just gone to an ATM and withdrew 600usd and left it on the kitchen table, planning to hide it when I got back from the gym.....DOH!! LOL.

    .

This was in Costa Rica. That place is lame. I was only there as I was stuck there for a while with an investment.

I think for the next passport that they give you. You should attach a string to it like when you were a little kid with your mittens :)

    Good Luck.

Also you should check your credit. maybe someone steel your info, make credit cards etc.
