  1. 555. What a joke.  Unless you happen to be Thai or have citizenship this has nothing to do with you. Bringing your HOA attitudes from wherever you came doesn't apply.  You are all temporary visitors. This is not your country.  These dogs have a right to exist in their own country. It's not up to you to decide whether they should be killed or not.  You choose to come here - so adapt.  Or leave. It's a simple as that.  Don't start slinging your western values around.  This isn't a western country.  Those values don't apply.  Only the Thai Government has the right to intercede.  And if they don't, well then that's it.

As has been said before - you can tell the quality of a person by the way they interact with animals.

  2. Very few places in Pattaya - more a word of mouth thing. Plus Facebook market place etc.

There is a large area in Bangkok that sells S/H parts from motorcycles but I can't remember the name. It will take you half a day to see everything. Quite big.

It's well known so shouldn't be difficult to Google it.

  3. Animal Army - Dr Kwanchai will do it. 0931361605.

He is out towards the Buddha Mountain area Pattaya/Jomtien.  He is also a very experienced vet committed to helping Soi dogs. He helps with the Government sterilisation program.  He would be able to give you a diagnosis for your dogs growth and what could be done with it.  He did an operation on my Boxer recently at over 10 years old, no problems.

  4. It's been a while but I'll try and remember.  Here are a few points.  I brought two Boxers into Thailand.  One came with me on the plane when I first moved here. The second came by air later (bought second dog and imported). Both dogs came from Taiwan - important as Taiwan is Rabies free.  You need to be aware of this if you are coming from a country WITH Rabies as you will probably have to go through a quarantine period.

Your dog will need certain vaccinations from a registered vet and paperwork to go with it. Also your dog must be chipped.

As already stated, you can do import permit online.

There are regulations as to size of travel box relative to the size of the dog (dog must be able to stand and have water). That's if the dog is travelling in the cargo hold. If it's a small dog and can go with you inside the plane then I am not sure re size regulations.  Only some airlines will transport livestock so check which airline you can use first. They will then give you the regulations.

First Boxer I brought in was waiting to be collected at customs inside the airport just after I collected my luggage.  They will check that the chip code matches your import paperwork.  My dog was released to me (still in the cage) but I then had to declare him at customs. It cost me 1000 Baht.

Second Boxer I collected at Airport Customs at the Customs Building outside of the airport. Yes, it is true that there are many con men waiting and will tell you you need them to receive your shipment.  They are not needed. Just ignore them. If you have done the job correctly with import papers then Customs will already have been in touch with you previously to tell you where to go and who to contact. You deal with customs DIRECT, no one else.

Both times I had a company who deal with import/export of livestock help me.  Reason I say this is they will take your dog the night before you fly. They will then deliver your dog to the airport in it's travel box ready to fly on the day of your departure. All paperwork done and in order.  Yes, it does cost money to do this but it makes the whole thing much much easier.

Having said that, there is nothing about this that is difficult if you are prepared to do the research and spend the time getting everything in order.

  5. Maybe.

FYI I used to work in Taiwan - many mountains. Locals insisted on clearing as high up on the side of the mountains to plant Bin Lan Nuts (Beetle Nut). The locals chew this nut and then spit red coloured spit everywhere !  Supposed to help keep taxi drivers and truck drives awake. Anyway it's illegal to clear the mountain sides for any reason.  But it still happened. During the monsoon season the results were brutal.

  6. Trierd several times to create an account but doesn't allow.  Get a eror message in Thai (which I can't read).

I have my 13 digit code which I enter along with my mobile number. Tried calling Bangrak Vaccination Centre but all in Thai - no English option.

What I have noticed is on my paperwork that I have for the second jab is the field for my mobile number says "null". Maybe the reason I can not register is because this is missing. To create an account both my 13 digit ID and mobile number are needed as they will send a 6 digit OTP code to me.

No big deal. I'll wait for the second jab and get it sorted when in Bangrak.

  7. I live in Pattaya and have two pure bread Boxers, both Male. One is 5 1/2 and the other is 2 1/2 years old. They both come from a breeder in Taiwan. The first, Eddie was bought while I worked in Taiwan and came over with me when I moved to Thailand. The second, Oscar was bought in Taiwan (from the same breeder) and shipped over to Thailand. I am not sure about the breeder mentioned in Chang Mai but in general I personally don't trust dog breeders here in Thailand. The breeder I used in Taiwan was registered with the Kennel Club of Taiwan and affiliated world wide. If you are going to buy a Boxer then you MUST know the breeder. As already stated Boxers, as with all dogs that are not bred correctly can suffer problems. It is most certainly not fair on the dog to have to suffer these problems just because a "breeder" wants to make quick money. It also won't be good for you as an owner who constantly has to deal with these health issues. Do some research so you know what to look for.

Having said all of that you will never regret owning a Boxer, they are addictive !. Boxers don't wag their tail, they wag their whole body (the Boxer bend !) when they greet you. They are very loyal and form very strong bonds to their family. They are very intelligent dogs and aren't too difficult to train as long as you become pack leader. They will become very boisterous if you don't lead. They need exercise - better if they get this two times a day. I take my Boxers on long runs (out of the city on open ground). What has already been said is true about the possibility of them over heating. It is not a problem in Thailand as long as you think ahead. I vary their exercise at different times of the year. Middle of the summer when it's hottest they go out either very early in the morning or late evening. I pick a trail that has trees for shade and at least one point where there is water ie a pond or lake for them to cool off in. This time of the year when it is raining they charge around all day long with no problems what so ever. Boxers don't get much cooling effect from their nose so most of the work is done with their tongue. You will know if they are getting too hot - it will be obvious from the way they are panting. If you want to help them cool off then put water on their CHEST or underside, not their back. This is the way dogs cool off when they lay in water.

Good luck and hope you find one !.
