  1. Hi Guys,

I am presently in the UK and will soon be building a house in the Yasothon area

with my Thai wife. Iam an Electrical contractor by trade and will probably do the

    electrical installation work myself.

Could anyone help!! I am trying to locate an electrical wholesalers for the purpose

of obtaining electrical material, switches, sockets, light fittings etc.

Any help gratefully received. Regards to you all.    ps. a great web site.

I built a house, bungalows and swimming pool 20 km southwest of Yasothon. Lots of headache :o but now I am happy. I would recommend Home Mart in Yasothon next to Jai bakery. Very helpful people. They have also all the building material needed for house building. Can also design your house. But Global in Roi-et is a bit cheaper and has a much wider selection of light fittings.

Have fun and take it easy :D when local people do it their own way.

  2. Unfortunately, located in Bangkok. Do you have a name and/or contact number for those guys in Pook? Would like to sort this out, maybe they have an affiliate or can recommend someone in bkk

    www.phuketgazette.com

then start your search for the International Law Office. :D

Hang in there amigo -- take it one step at a time -- if after everything it looks like you're going to be financially ruined creditwise etc., start moving your funds out of here and on to Singapore -- then tell the bank to repo it if you can't get a buyer to take your discounted offer.

Walkaway from the loss -- and for crying out loud, rent p*ssy from now on instead of buying! :o:D

    1. A foreigner can never guarantee a loan, on a house it is impossible. The paper you signed is useless.

    2. The bank will sell the house and give the remaining money to your ex.

    3. You can only learn

  3. Sorry oldies. But thought i'd keep this in view for the newbies. Come on newbies. Say hello!

I am new in this forum. I am from Switzerland and settled down in Roi-et 2 years ago. I really enjoy listen to the topics of housebuilding and running bars, business etc. I started posting lately. real fun :o

  4. I'm very familiar with Kalasin and the surrounding areas , those who say the people are poor etc are generalising BIG TIME.

There are a LOT of peeps in the area that go on the piss every night and quite a few bars are heaving every evening. The big problem with Kalasin and KK these days are the Police. A Thai could run the place and only be expected to tip the police a few grand a month , as soon as a farang becomes attached , those rates would increase ten fold , whether or not the bar was successful.

The posters above that ask whether or not farang are in Kalasin? This is redundant , the young Thais have enough dosh to make these places a potential goldmine , my wifes aunt runs a very succesful C and W style bar in Kalasin , the problem remains are the ###### police.

    :D

I quite agree working for Motorola on the CP Orange (True) Project based in KKN their were some heavy weights based in Kalasin. A large number are Kings men. Who have been given land in retirement or somthing like that.

However they still only want to pay Thai prices for the beer and food. Not much profit margin in that!

I know Isaan business well: You have to invest some 100k bt to make a nice bar in Kalasin. Do it in style to attract the upscale people in Kalasin. The peeps will not visit a good style bar. Very important no other family members in your business. Family always destroys business. No credits to government customers.your targeted customers are teachers, government officials Tell police to take free drinks only once per month, give them the whisky etc in bags., let your wife bring it to them. No free drinks inside your bar. Pay Licence for Whiskey and Live music 20 k bt per year in advance. When Legasit comes around ask them to show official paper. Never sit in the bar and drink with customers, they will demolish you and your furniture soon.

    good luck :o

  5. Is this still valid information?

    Anybody had experience since publication?

The further you stay inland in Amphoes in Isaan the more difficult it is to find reliable workers to repair electrical equipment etc in the house. Try to find someone having visited Bangkok once or twice in a lifetime. In Bangkok they adapt to a reliable style. You can also contact your official government electrical department in the next city, they are always prepared to recommend a good friend.

  6. Yes.

If you have something positive to offer so that others  will know what is available in Issan, please PM me. :o

It is a private site, not part of TAT or any other government operation.

    Please give us a link.

    Here your are.

Visit Roi et and you can enjoy the beautiful lake and park in the middle of Roi et City. Well cared and maintained. Take a rest in White Elephant restaurant with very friendly service and excellent Thai and european food, swimm in the romantic and very clean Sawalak swimming pool in Phanomprai and you will never forget the cosy and romantic sides of Isaan.

  7. I'm going to be living near Maha Chai Chana, 20kms away from Yasothon. My wife says they do not have a phone line yet but they can have one put in for roughly 2000bt. Does that sound right - does anyone know exactly?

She says that it will only take a couple of days for them to come round and do it, but I know what thailand's like and it will probably take 2 weeks!!

This extreme card looks good - I'm only going to be there 5 months so I'll try and give that a go. I live just opporsite Plantip Plaza so they should have it there.

Thanks guys for your help. Any more info always welcome...

It costs 800bt to install a phone line in Maha Chana Chai and will be installed in about 1 week if you do not show your face. If you show your face it wiil be little more than 2000bt and take 2 month. Buy Loxinfo standard internet connection (not 1222 etc) This is the only one working there. No fancy modems etc. No support available. Have fun :o
