  1. It's clearly a case of mental illness. Responsible Thai media could actually make a showcase out of him to educate the public about mental illness, something that's not really known to most people and if it is, very taboo. He should admitted to a psychiatric ward for treatment and once stabilized, sent home.
  2. Thai people are seemingly ready to move into digital slavery through CBDC's. Unfortunately, they lack the foresight, awareness or love of freedom to see through things like these - It's already been demonstrated with their eagerness to submit to all the provably useless but totalitarian Covid rules. With "CONVENIENCE" the puppet masters will lead people into digital slavery - once the usage ratio exceeds 80% or so, the bag will be closed and escape routes also.
  3. What does "Minister-cum-interior" stand for exactly? I'm no English native speaker (in case this refers to an English langauge term) and not familiar with Thai politics, so sorry for my ignorance.
  4. In the interest of Chinese visitors, I hope this won't include potential detainment in secret police stations the Chinese are entertaining in several countries out of China. https://www.wired.co.uk/article/china-police-stations-security-roundup Does anyone know about Thailand's stance on that?
  5. Payback time for his dedicated support of the medical-pharmaceutical-industrial complex since 2020. One hand washing the other.
  6. Fartbook is very quick and effective in automatically detecting, filtering and censoring content questioning climate and corona propaganda (for example), yet for some reason, detecting scams, spam and left-wing extremism seems an unsolvable problem for this (and many other Silicon Valley) corporations. I wonder why that is? Maybe the planet just hasn't enough computer power for that, dunno.
  7. So in fact, not the people but the parliament votes a PM in Thailand? I wasn't aware of that. Have to re-think my understanding of 'Thai democracy' now.
  8. 500 members of parliament!?! Is this new, or have there always been 500 people? Sounds an awful lot even considering the size of Thailand, but also considering that most people in there are not wealthy. That's a lot of salaries and pensions to pay for them...
  9. Out of curiosity: why is it even still tested? By far, most countries have abandoned testing, and people who want to test have to pay the tests by themselves. Looks like previous flu infection also has an immunization effect for Covid, who would have thought that! (well, the 'conspiracy theorists' did, but they can't be taken for serious, or can they). Could it possibly be that Covy is very similar to the flu? Well, that would be way too simplified, would it. Because it's complicated and therefore, requires expensive solutions, say the experts. Anyhow, the world has moved on, by now in most countries, it's more about who pocketed most money utilizing what has happened since 2020, and who's co-responsible for the tremendous economic, societal and psychological damage the policies caused. That 5-30% of the population catch a flu-like disease every year and that it can cause serious issues for a tiny fraction of them (particularly the ones not in good health or at high age) is nothing really new. Well it kinda was for 3 years, but now it's again not anymore. Let's move on, frens.
  10. No! Told first, that vaccine would stop you "catching and spreading". Later on, told that vaccine would not stop you from "catching, but from spreading". Later on, told that vaccine would neither stop you from catching, and not from spreading, but it would "significantly reduce chances of hospitalization and dying". Later on, told that vaccine would whatever, but anyhow, take it please. Later on, up to you, vaccine recommended for elderly and high-risk people for some reason. Later on, no recommendation anymore, but vaccine centers still open. Later on, sorry, you'll have to pay yourself now to get your 4th/5th booster. About the same shifting narrative could be found re: vaccine risks and damages.
  11. Sad to read that so many people don't seek mental health support when they are suffering from depression.
  12. woooot .... not having a current driving license, next time it's a red card? Seems a bit ... extreme .... to me?! (not to justify driving w/o helmets or license, but...)
  13. Wasn't it announced years ago that travelers coming to Thailand are automatically insured with a fee that's added to their plane tickets or something like that? What happened to that? Nope, the 300b are to 'maintain tourist sites' and to 'protect the environment' we were told, so probably that helps to stop the rampant deforestation (especially since the tax law was changed and land owners have started to replace century-old rainforests by ugly banana plantations now all over the country )
  14. Sad, because only by itself, Beach Road is boring and sterile. The remodeling didn't help either, I wish they had used all that money to fill up all the potholes and dangerous "jump gutters" on roads.
  15. Good riddance there of Paypal. It's a 'woke' company, ready to freeze the accounts of people who dare to speak up against governments or who are otherwise deemed not 'wanted'. It can happen overnight, to anyone. Not reliable, and expensive. Take control over your wealth, convert it into a good store of value (gold or rather Bitcoin as it's easily transferrable over the Internet, directly p2p) and keep it in your very own wallet that you have 100% control over. Creating and holding a wallet is 100% free in Bitcoin, and transactions only cost pennies when done over its Lightning Network (and only cents to single-digit dollar amounts when done on the base layer itself, even when it's millions ???? ). Take control over your money, don't let companies treat you like a toddler.
  16. Bitcoin fixes this. Permissionless, direct p2p transactions. No need for banks or anyone else. An increasing number of vendors already accept Bitcoin - and one can take them anywhere in the world, without needing to exchange anything. If anyone wants to rant about 'volatility': Bitcoin has been less volatile than the stock market this year (!). Things are changing. If one's smart enough to buy a stash now, during a low, the 'volatility' will most likely just move one up in stored value. But yeah, feel free to continue to feed centralized and authoritarian institutions like banks or remittance systems are.
  17. I have to admit I might have been pampered by my home country, where I can see all the blackmail money I owe to the state in an online interface and can pay off my debts directly. Thanks for the input guys, I'll ask management to keep an eye on those letters! ????
  18. Chonburi ... so I can't get a 3-month tourist visa from within TH I suppose.... Have to leave Thailand, re-enter, get 1 month, extend 1 month, leave again, and do the same for another time? Yea, that would give me 4 month until late March ????
  19. Hi guys, my work permit will expire in December and I won't extend it, but I'd like to stay a few months (approx. 4) longer. What's the best way to do this ... can I just extend the visa at Immigration, or would I have to leave the country (ideally just to a neighbor country) to re-enter, or what's the recommended procedure in such a case? thanks for any insight! pepe
  20. I've just left the country for a few months (!), only to be 'welcomed' with remarkable 'late payment fines' because I didn't pay the land tax for my condos 'in time'. Turns out, there is a physical LETTER dropped into postboxes containing a few non-trivial instructions on payment in Thai language (my wife had to handle it), but if you're out of the country of course you won't receive this letter and find yourself confronted with some severe financial punishment (I heard horror stories of condo owners who missed payment for longer than 1 year). Isn't there any way to have these government offices send bills through email? That would be the minimum service one could expect for these quite remarkable and new money grabs. How do you guys handle that?
  21. Thanks for all the answers, very helpful - - will do that! ????
  22. Hello guys, I'm currently pondering over the idea of integrating a condo I have in a European country into my Thai company (for various reasons, I think it should have tax advantages and also give me more protection against land grabs by govt). Did anyone in here already do the same, any thoughts / experiences / concerns? cheers, r.
  23. Hello, I've been walking through my documents, and shockingly found that I have only the "chinot" of a condominium I've bought a couple of years ago, but not the blue book. ???? I hope this isn't a major problem (?), certainly it will invoke massive bureaucratic steps to get it. Does anyone know where to go and what to do in order to get my blue (or even yellow) book? thanks!
