  1. Yes she should call the insurance company and have their representative attend the meeting with the Police and other party. She should not attend the meeting until she can be sure the representative will be there with her and to say nothing until the representative understands the full implications.

1st Class insurance does cover both vehicle.

  2. Yes you can cancel your vehicle insurance - you will need to send back the original policy to your Broker and they will arrange for you the return of any premium.

Note - depending on where you keep the vehicle it may be worth keeping the policy in force, also if you cancel you may lose your NCB.

  3. As ‘Overcome’ has mentioned Pacific Cross now offer a myriad of plans from the very basic to the high end – 9 in total with many variations based on those and so can cover any eventuality.

As obviously it would be impossible to list all the variations in a Forum we suggest contacting us ( HERE ) and telling us your requirements so we can offer suitable recommendation to suit your own circumstances.

  4. There are several polices available for young children/infants but as with all medical insurances there will be an application form to complete where any existing conditions/problems will need to be listed. In the majority of cases these problems will be excluded depending on the severity. Should you wish us to try for you please go HERE

  5. Apologies if we missed an email from you Merlin as we try and respond to all emails within 24hrs - but please feel free to call if you need something urgent : 081 782 2196

For the Compulsory (Government) insurance the benefits have been increased (a little) see below, but the voluntary 1st, 2nd, or 3rd Class cover is always recommended and yes, all 3 do include a Bail Bond (min. needed 200k Baht).

Preliminary is initial amount paid without any proof of fault (claim within 7 days of the accident)

    Medical service expenses

    not more than 30,000 Baht

    Loss of Life
    Loss of organs
    Permanent disability

    35,000 Baht for person

    Maximum coverage
    (including preliminary coverage)

    Bodily injury

    Not more than 65,000 Baht

    Loss of Life
    Permanent disability

    200,000 Baht

    Medical Service Compensation

200 Baht per day but not more than 20 days

The highlighted amounts are the benefits that were increased.
  6. A point to remember is a P.A. (accident) policy is no substitute for a medical (health) insurance policy, but it is obviously cheaper due to the lower benefits.

There are a great variety of policies on offer so when looking for a P.A. policy you need to decided which benefits are important to you i.e. list your priorities. Example, is the Life benefit more important than the Medical expenses or maybe the Disability benefits and so on.

As Brokers we can offer polices from all insurance companies and so can fit the correct policy to your own requirements. LINK

  7. There are many Life companies in Thailand and we can offer quotes for all or any of them if you wish.

Please go to this Link and send us her basic details and the amount to be insured.

Please note unless you state otherwise this will be for straight Life and not the usual nonsense many companies try and sell.

  8. Travel insurance ! Wants wrong with you turkeys, you forget where you are, the country is under marshal law, read your policies everyone there is not an insurance company that will cover you, Online they have been bombarding me to buy expat insurance why, they have the same clause.so before offering advice, i would go and check the fine print on your policies.

Not true, several insurance companies will insure you, the only proviso is you do not get involved in any demonstrations i.e. the normal holiday maker will be covered.

  9. Bupa Thailand Sunshine Plan is an option (...up to and inclusive of the age of 70 years...):

    http://bupa.co.th/en/individuals/health-insurance/individual/detail.aspx?iid=5#.VNX02PmG_Tp

BUPA Thailand will only insure if you apply before age 65. Age 59 - 64 will insure to age 69.

Not according to Bupa's web-page for the special "Sunshine Plan":

»Members must be over the age of 18 years and may apply up to and inclusive of the age of 70 years only.«

    (sic.)

The Sunshine plan will take applicants up to 70 but do note the max term is 6 months and the max benefit 1m Baht.

  10. Most hospital insurance (rarely any out-patient coverage) available in Thailand for 70 year old foreigners would require that you initiated coverage before 50 or 55 and not let the policy lapse once you exceed those limits. Even then it would be very pricey.

And even for a company like BUPA, travel-medical insurance excludes people over 70.

    • We do not cover medical expenses for children under 1 month and persons over 70 years of age

    http://www.bupa.co.th/en/individuals/travel-insurance/

There are several medical insurance policies (both In Patient and Out Patient) available in Thailand for persons over 70 but agree the premiums increase as the risks are obviously very high.

As mentioned earlier Travel cover for up to 180 days available from several companies.

Either PM me direct or go HERE for a quote.

  11. It's not because you reached 60 years of age. Now as vehicles get older the coverage levels in certain areas of the policy decrease and if you want to keep them at certain levels you have to pay extra---have you been doing that which could have caused the increase. Condition of the car in the owner's mind (or odometer) means very little to an insurance company, but the age of he vehicle does. Ask for some quotes from other companies/brokers.

In fact once you reach the age of 50 many companies decrease the vehicle premiums - not by much though sad.png
