  1. Thanks Neal. No need to be snarky. Not everyone has an internet presence, but now I know who does.
  2. So far, only one name here: Doug Hood, but no idea where this person could be contacted. I am an intermediate golfer.
  3. Everything is relative TGW. Let's say, weekend golfer level.
  4. Thanks but I am not looking for online swing correction advice. I'm asking if anyone knows of a legitimately qualified and successful golf coach.
  5. Is there such a person? I'm looking for someone to fine tune something with my swing, but looking at the "coaches" around the various driving ranges, I am not impressed in the slightest. Anyone have first-hand experience with a real winning coach?
  6. Q: I have a new passport with transferred stamps from my previous one. Renewing my one-year extension, is all I need contained in the new passport, or do I need any copies from the old one?
  7. "This is the fundamental purpose of wearing a mask. PROTECTING OTHERS. And Thai people care to protect their families, their parents, their aunts, uncles, cousins." This would have some merit if masks actually did protect others.
  8. "He said that people must adjust to the new normal lifestyle, by wearing face masks when in public or crowded areas, maintaining social distancing and regularly sanitizing their hands." Wow, this guy is at least a year and a half out of date. Does the good doctor have the ability to read and digest relevant material in English on the subject? I feel like the "learned-class" of medical "professionals" here are caught in a swirling eddy; trapped in a posture of continually chasing their own tails. This makes me even more fearful of ever having any important medical procedure done on me in this country. "Nothing a little blood-letting won't cure!" >..< As for the vaccine information, can you imagine submitting this in your Master's or PhD program? Lordy!

    Amulet repair

Thursday amulet market at Kamtieng, across from the post office and next to the big Tesco. There are booths that do nothing but make these. They are REALLY good. I had some special sized made and was absolutely amazed at the quality of workmanship.
  10. RAM has a lot of expensive machines that can do many things you don't need. I have come to the conclusion over a period of time that the management must be pushing the doctors to do as many tests on the expensive machines as possible, regardless of whether you might need it or not.
  11. Things I have learned from reading this thread: 1. The food in the "new German restaurant" is better than the old restaurant run by someone named Udo (which led me to find that name is Nigerian, Australian and/or Old German, in which case it is short for Ulric). 2. The "new German restaurant" is "nicely set up" and not so far away if you live downtown. 3. A total non-sequitur can be slipped into the opening post, which will act as chum for off-topic posters. 4. Off-topic posters are allowed to post lengthy articles (with a tenuous toe-hold since the original poster went off topic herself).
  12. Please look at the number of states in the United States with mask mandates. Covid 19 mask mandates by state Oh, look, the number is ZERO. And now in the US the public transport masking mandate (airlines in particular) has been lifted. But the virus in Thailand is totally different, right? Let's see if we can re-invent the wheel in Thai characteristics....
  13. Buy benzyl alcohol and add to sterile water at 0.9 percent. Presto-changeo, you got it.
  14. The road is deep sand, which was not compressed with a steam roller, covered with this tiny "rebar" and concrete poured over this. Does this seem correct to anyone familiar with construction?
  15. Remember, the legal concept of cannabis in Thailand states that the THC content must be less than 0.2 percent. The average THC content in recreational marijuana is 20 percent or more. What Thailand is advocating is a bit like the current fashion to put the word "truffle" in snack foods with the fungus making up a similar percentage. Some would call this false advertising, but technically speaking it is true.
  16. "LONDON, Feb 9 (Reuters) - People in England with COVID-19 will from late February no longer be legally required to self-isolate to stem the spread of COVID-19, Prime Minister Boris Johnson said on Wednesday, proposing to speed up existing plans to live with the virus. Johnson ended almost all COVID-19 restrictions in England last July, and last month lifted "Plan B" measures that had been temporarily imposed to slow the spread of the more recent Omicron variant of the coronavirus." Hey Thailand...isn't this the same virus? Or is the one in Thailand different and needs special heightened madness mandates?
  17. I think you are confusing the sum for the special, Elite Visa or proposed Long Stay visa. Both of these are to entice well-heeled, long-stay intended people. My guess is your "informed" source isn't.
  18. Maybe just rent a jetski.... ????
  19. Only 11 states and D.C. have mask mandates and ONLY Oregon has an outdoor mask mandate. Perhaps a reporter might to some research and ask him about this and how it relates to Thailand.
  20. As you walk along the Sunday Walking Street, on the left is the first seller (if he is there) and this person is the most reasonably priced but mostly has butterflies. If you continue on there is a seller near the entrance to a temple on the left. She has lots of different things you will like (if she is there). Then again on the left, further down, is the last seller who has prices that are insultingly high; avoid him. There are no proscriptions against taking these into the USA.
  21. SARS-CoV2 is the virus that causes the disease we know as Covid-19. Colloquially, we usually conflate "getting covid" and "testing positive," which are not the same thing. You can test positive and yet never get ill; therefore, you didn't "get covid," but I think everyone understands the question. I'm actually more interested in how the Thais would respond to this poll, but anyone is free to reply.
  22. "Given the virulence of Omicron, if it turns out to be as lethal as Delta, then millions more will die. That would make a difference to me." We already know that it is NOT as lethal. And millions dying every year of hypertension makes a difference to you? Are you out there every day advocating in a meaningful way better diet -- no processed foods and sugary drinks? Are you protesting in a meaningful way the rape of the land for palm oil and sugar that contributes to this? Smoking? Drugs? Alzheimer's?
