  1. Transfered some cash last week via HSBC, normally use a currency service but for £4 I thought I would give it a try. You have to select "GBP Equivelent" from the drop down menu and the amount leaves your a/c in sterling and is converted into baht here. Was most impressed with the service and rate for £4, next day in my a/c as opposed to the currency service i used which used to take a min of 1 week

  2. I had the same problem, screen not responding. Took it to i-mobile service center said it would cost 1,900 to repair. After many visits back to the shop they still had not repaired it. 7 weeks after first taking it in went and collected it , not repaired. Went to a stand where they sell all the phones and gadgets said come back in one hour, 400 baht, job completed.

This is old hat, but where in Thailand is there an airport called Birmingham ?

Another Jobsworth. Just dream one of the Planes had flown from Thailand and then you'll feel better.facepalm.gif
Nah, cannot delude myself as I do realise that there are no flights from Thailand to Birmingham, any other suggestions ?

    Birmingham - Qatar - Thailand
    Birmingham - UAE - Thailand

Sent from my iPhone using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app

Always fly to Birmingham from Bangkok!! This is Thailand related and does belong in the travel forum as some people are now aware that this is possible.

  4. I went to bang na last tuesday for daughters passport, no problem at all very efficent all done in 30 mins. Passport came yesterday via ems. Not sure about it being temp as I used this two years ago for wifes passport, we collected that ourselves 2 days later. The office however has moved from the basement to the 5th floor.

The office is located at Central Bang Na plaza. The plaza does not open until 10am but the passport office opens 8.30 so you have to go through the carpark on the left of the plaza to the lifts. Plenty of security to show you the way

    Good luck

  5. How much for the upgrade to economy plus, and how much for business I would skip the food upgrade. Will they serve alcohol in economy plus? Cos if they do, you won't care too much about the food anyway

Economy Comfort was £120 one way. Not sure how much the upgrade would be to biz class.....maybe someone on here can tell me.

As to the drinks....no migsy....I don't drink that much on the plane....prefer to wait till I get to the Crossbar. tongue.png

Last year they wanted 1200 euros to upgrade to bus. class (Ams-Bkk) did not take it and when I saw the bus.class section was glad I did not (paid £435 for original ticket BHX-BKK return)

    One way or both?

    one way!!, AMS-BKK

  7. Would nice to name the Bank. Screaming the sky is falling isn't going to cut it. Not all banks have that policy.

Ya gotta agree with that. What bank?

So you dont believe banks warn? Cooperative Bank gave me the advice because of incidents of fraudulent withdrawls

Every time I have one of these warning e-mails I have to enter all my security details again. Waste of time because when I check my account again all the money has gone!!!!!coffee1.gif crazy.gif 1zgarz5.gif

  8. I've been reading various reviews about I-mobile phones and have been impressed by the responses I've read.

The only problem I can see with the IQ6 is that it only supports 3G internet @850MHz, there's no 900 MHz option. So you won't be able to use an AIS sim and get 3G, plus, as far as I'm aware, all the UK networks use 900 MHz for their 3G internet so for those people going to/living in the UK although the phone will work fine you will only be able to access the slower 2G internet which, of course, is no good for video calls and video streaming.

The IQ1 does however support both 850 MHz and 900MHz 3G internet systems but it only has an 8 megapixel camera, a 4.5in screen and a slightly smaller battery. It does have a TV option though.

The two phones have similar specs in all other areas.

There are two versions of the new IQ6, IQ6 & IQ6A. One uses 850mhz and the other 900mhz just choose the one suitable for your sim card provider
  9. I went to changwattena the other day to do my 90 day report and to get a residence certificate. I had to fill a form in and give copies of main page of passport, last entry stamp, retirement visa, last arrival card, 90 day report and 200 Baht. They said it would take up to three weeks to arrive.

No mention of any proof where I lived, just asked if I lived in an apartment, condo or house.( I live with my good lady in her house).

  10. You will have to subscribe to a plan. If you just put a load of credit on the phone you will be charged at the highest rate. If you look at the plans there is a number to sms to subscribe to the plan you chose. I had difficulty in setting my plan up so I went to the True shop and they did it for me. All messages that come through are in Thai, further complicating things. However now I have it all set up I think it is worth it for the coverage I have needed and for the speed.
