  1. This is an extremely difficult thing to do, delete facebook, i know it's a good tool to keep in touch with family but so is wats app. Throw your television in the bin or at the most keep it for boring inlaws with a few thai channels. When it comes down to it, without the media and social media reminding you everyday of the horrors of this world, you would enjoy a happy life. My girlfriend the first girl I have met in Thailand who doesn't sit on her phone half her life, in fact she is rarely on it. The only time she has looked at the news was to fòllow the death of some kid that died in the north of Thailand recently which has the coopers running around in circles. Other than that global warming BLM white lives black lives riots unrest wars and all world events are unknown to her, even covid 19 stats she couldnt give a rats ass. She is a happy little bunny! Try it on off for while then cut it out completely and enjoy the last years of your life.

Yes just the other day  it was said that Thai tourist had  booked 80-100 % of 3-5 star hotels in Hua Hin

@ prices 3,000 baht up per night....but that the guest houses and budget hotels where almost empty ?

doesn't make sense to me  surely people with no income for months on end..or a measly handout of 5,000 baht per month would be staying at the cheaper accommodation.

Saying that there where a hell of a lot of Bangkok plated vehicles along Jomtien beach road and clogging everywhere else up during those 4 days "holiday"

( on top of the months of shutdown where do they get the money from ?)

They are all living on borrowed time and money!

The whole thing is tied into tourists.

Not many Thai men drink at the bars.

They really have to come up with a common sense approach to remove the border protection.

Get the planes coming back to Thailand.

Nobody has caught covid19 on a plane. True.

Seriously think about the farang tourists and others.

    They are the Salvation here.

The government couldn't even hand out the 5000 baht offerings they promised.

We now have 6 million more farmers according to the system. Rubbish.

I've said before the government will get one decent crack at this.

Make it safe and easy to get back and from June/July people will start to return.

Impose too much government restrictions and they will not bother.

Dude are you on medication, they need western tourist like flies need insect repellant, in fact if it was that easy they would spray us on our way out. They dont need or want western tourists, India and China combined with the rest of Asia will give them trillions is tourism dollars.

... says someone who only knows Beach Road and Second Road... :whistling:

Have a look at Third Road by example:

Bars full of Thai people with rarely a farang or tourist inside !

In fact same in the biggest part of Pattaya, just not the part near the sea.

There are as many if not more bars that cater to thai people located in nearly every soi, bars, discos, karaoke, snooker halls. I wonder why people comment when they dont have any knowledge of the place.

You could bore an <deleted> in a wooden donkey.

Whorehouse by the sea. Gals, guys and in between available.

Farang bar lifestyle available. Decent golf courses available locally.

    Food not bad.

Enjoy the best of all worlds.

There isn't anywhere like it. Anyone tells you any different is lying.

Willy your right there isn't anywhere in the world like Pattaya, a true playground for any man regardless of how much money he has or earns

White color blue color in Pattaya there is someone for everyone, I have mates who live in ireland and England who dont get their end unless they come to Pattaya.

For a lot of guys coming to pattaya is like going to paradise, and their first rock n roll in bed for a long time. I dont normally comment in this forum but today I had to, I will miss the old Pattaya as will mention of men the world over. I really try to be positive and think it will come back, it's very difficult to see that happening. For one the west have decimated their economies, a lot of people out of work. As previously stated before the plandemic times were bad, most bar owners I know were down 20 to 40% overall to Christmas.

There are powerful people both in government and the private sector who want change, for this reason in itself, it will happen.

I've lived in a lot of places in Thailand and would certainly not call Pattaya a dump...has an easy immigration office, fantastic transport system with baht buses, probably the most expat shops/supermarkets anywhere in Thailand,  Survhabhumi is easy to reach, good seasons unlike the South with hot or rain...many other things also...just what exactly makes Pattaya a dump?

Dont get me wrong I love the place but it is what it is, It's a dump. Reasons there are many to many, to name a few obvious in your face reason are. Weather buying food, and baht busses has nothing to do with the state of the place. The beach footpath as well as many roads in and around the city have been under construction for years. The beach itself and water is so polluted to dangerous levels, people sleeping rough as well the number of very low end hookers. During season busses packed in along beach road blowing diesel fumes and beach views of the beach if you fancy a drink in any number of bars along the beach road. Often I sit there while the missus is in shopping at central. During the rainy season poor planning of the infrastructure many roads in and around Pattaya become rivers flooding many homes and businesses. Mate I could go on and on, it is what it is. This does not take away the many good years i have enjoyed living here. I agree it has many plus points but as a beach resort it is a dump

I know it sounds bad but all the time people are being so kind , from bars and clubs giving out free food to help the needy .. the government won’t give a dam ... they will think long may it continue..

if they stopped helping .. people , poor people , starving people ... might take to the streets in anger

    they might think again ...

No they will not take to the streets, who are you talking about? Bar girls who look good will hang about working from the net, The others will go home to the country. I wouldn't be surprised if we see most current and new retirees located up country with a lot of new bars in prime locations. Pattaya in the short term, there will be a small rise in crime, not lasting long the boys will follow the girls home. Over a short period of time, the volume of people giving free food will be reduced again encouraging people to return home. 100% no one is taking to the streets, maybe a few people in front of city hall which will go no where. After 13 years here and Bangkok, I can honestly say I have had the time of my life ???? Its with great sadness but I do believe Pattaya is going to change drastically over the coming two years, I might just go up country myself.

The times are a changing Vegas change their image to a family entertainment place TIT

Correct Thailand will change, Pattaya being the dump that it is, and knowing the lack of any real investment rebranding it for bus loads of Chinese will not be difficult. Possibly by closing beach road, converting third road, one way south, maintaining a clean enviromemt around the beach. Take a walk down to the beach and observe how quickly it has been transformed into a place worth going.  I believe a lot of the boats in the harbor including the entertainment venues will disappear,  what remains, enforcing the plan to use the pier will be easy. This will attract a lot of high worth travelers, families, Thai people from Bangkok and surrounding provinces. This will take a little time, but it's on the cards.

    Yes, thank you.

I am looking for the official line on this, not your opinion.

The official line is the same as all official and non official lines: One, don't be stupid and bring attention to your activities, have a valid Thai driving license, and not be drunk. Once this is fully understood you can proceed to cross this particular line and keep your but cheeks clinched that you are not on the road after curfew, for that is one line, that is truly enforced.

that is a leading feature of the current thai government

I do believe many bar and club owners are wishful thinkers. Not just here in Thailand but the world over there is a massive change in human rights taking place. The entertainment industry, travel, restaurants, the places and activities that people use for get out of the house are closing. Turning us into an unhappy society of Microsoft Netflix Grab users.

Pattaya in particular and Thailand as a country have wanted to upgrade the quality of both tourist and expat for sometime. It is no secret the government dislike the sexpat tourist that frequent bars all over the country. Their attitude is we don't care where you go, we don't want or need that revenue we have plans to redevelop the tourist industry to our liking. This was on their minds prior to this <deleted> show and now have the perfect opportunity to invest in a new type of tourist industry. The talk of opening up if things remain good with regards to virus will do very little in fact it will be a disaster. Tenants can plead for rent relief with not being allowwd to open, but being allowed to open with 0 hope of getting western customers is going to break the back of most. One only needs to look at how this plandemic has devastated Europe the UK and the USA. Air travel will have to increase to a level making long haul very expensive with this new rule of leaving a seat between customers. Most airlines are reducing their fleets by up to 50%

After all this is said and done there may be a small enclave around LK metro open for business with new ownership. I seriously doubt any the current tenants will survive the coming year to 18 months.

  11. Yes essentially I think international travel is off the books for a while. Pattaya will redevelop for Chinese and thai people with maybe 1 road if that as a red light district. Thailand do not need and are really  not interested in white tourists, they have made that abundantly clear.

  12. To all those who hope the kids British relatives can offer him a better home

    FORGET IT

They will find it impossible to take a child under 17 out of Thailand to live

This is fact, a friend tried to take his Grandson to Aus after the kids parents died on a bike

He is the kids guardian but they must live here

Better they anti up some money for his education and living expenses in Thailand

who is to say he would have a better life in the UK or for that matter anywhere else in Europe, have a look around, its not only white people with red plates! Thailand as well as most of Asia is leaving the western world behind, 10 years, sooooooooooooo far behind
