  1. You will have to apply for a Thai birth certificate for him a the Thai embassy in Wellington. Inof in Thai is here on the embassy website.

After the birth certificate is issued he would be able to apply for a passport at the embassy.
It is also to apply for the birth certificate at the Consular Affairs Department of the MFA in Bangkok and they will send it to embassy for them to issue it.
    Thanks Joe

  2. My son is a minor(15), born in New Zealand. His mother is a Thai national, with NZ residency.

What steps do I need to take to get him a Thai passport?

Bare in mind, me and his mother are divorced and she is not much interested in participating in the process of getting him a Thai passport. Is this something that I can do on my own?

Can it all be done from New Zealand?

All advice, tips and stories of yours would be much appreciated.

  3. Heads up, be sure that who ever you are staying with in Thailand does the TM30 form and has you registered at the address within 24hrs of arrival.

I got stung yesterday while applying for a visa extension because the TM30 form wasn't filed within the first 24hrs of arrival.

Had to pay a fine 500baht. No doubt pocketed, because there was no receipt.

I've had to register at a house before, so it was something new for me.

  4. It is a fairly simple process to get the 30 day extension of your 60 day entry from your tourist visa at immigration in Jomtien for a fee of 1900 baht.
You will need a completed TM7 form ( download and print 2 sided Fillable TM7 form.pdf ) with a 4 X  cm photo attached. Copies of passport photo page, visa, entry stamp and TM6 departure card.
Immigration will want a completed TM30 form ( tm30.pdf ).from your landlord.

Ubonjoe. Would this be this same for the buriram office? I have to do an extension as well.
I presume must go early in the morning.
    Thanks

  5. This happened to me last month, one day overstay. I left Thailand at Don muaeng airport. Immigration lady giggled and said overstay. I was lead off to the overstay area, not even was given a chance to go into the overstay room. Was given passport back after about 30seconds wait and told to carry on. It was stamped with a 1 day amesty and no fine.
And I was allowed to reenter Thailand 10 days later with tourist visa.

  6. "Why you no get non o visa, you stay long time. This makes no sense." I got this from immigration lady today. But I don't think I qualify for a non o visa.

I get 5 months off a year (seasonal worker), and like spending time in Thailand. I just spent 10days in Myanmar after having a month in Thailand. So I'm not really a visa runner.

Normally every year I get one 30exempt and 1 setv, the rest of the holiday period is in other countries.

Should I worry? Or just she just wanting to make me sweet.
