  1. Go over any bridge in Bangkok clearly labelled no motorbikes and you will see hundreds going down the middle between lanes of cars.

On the rare occasion the police set up a check point mid bridge, they bikes simply turn around and leave, only to return later in the day, next day etc.

Solution: Block them from taking the bridges : permanent placed at the bridge entrance but that would be too much work or even better just haul them all off and impound them for 10,000 baht.

Or even better take away the silly bike restrictions!

yes, that makes sense.... actually let's get rid of all restrictions, lights etc while we are at it.

Get rid of the bikes like the junta did in Yangon

  2. I think we can all see a raft of new legislation coming over the next few months - some of it very quickly. Prayuth has had a long time to watch and think and plan.

Anyone contemplating the setting up of a government in exile is likely to be charged with any number of offences - charges that will no doubt preclude them for participation in the next general election.

Here is a list of the possible legislative changes that Prayuth could seek to make.

Ban all activist groups such as red shirts/yellow shirts/PAD/UDD/PDRC

Create a new division of the NACC to handle complaints of political malfeasance and corruption

Crimes by politicians to be subject to 4 times the maximum prison sentence of civilians and a freeze of assets

Ban policemen with any political affiliation from senior posts

Ensure all policies of a financial nature publish monthly or quarterly accounts

Media outlets reporting lies or reporting in an inflammatory manner to lose their licence

Political parties participating in a general election to publish a manifesto at the same time 2 weeks ahead of the election

No political rallies within 2 weeks of elections

Harassment or intimidation of political opponents to result in imprisonment and a ban of that party's participation in that constituency for 4 years

Vote buying - same as above

    That's a start

  3. The banner should read "Thaksin and Yingluck the comedy duo appearing daily".

Yes indeed, and they will be a comedy duo, that is until the first foreign nation recognizes them wink.png Should the U.N., E.U., U.S., Japan or another major country recognize them as the rightful leaders of a government in exile, then the comedy will not be so funny for those military leaders who put themselves out on a limb. If they do indeed set up a government in exile then I think that the U.N. would likely be the first to recognize them and start sanctions against Thailand wai2.gif

Do you have any example of that happening in the past? A country like Japan wants to preserve its own interests. They have a lot of a investments here. Won't risk it. USA will implement some symbolic sanctions but will not cut off ties.

Why don't people just use the internet - it's not just there for facebook. A first glance reveals 20 governments in exile over the years.

    Not functioning though.

  4. Its mind boggling. People who would be the first to moan about censorship suddenly becoming ardent supporters of it. Why should they be detained? Why should they report? Theyve done nothing wrong. Not even to the coup. In fact their only crime appears to be they refuse to come when ordered. Were they to do so, they would be tacitly accepting that the coup is somehow legitimate.

They have a choice as remarked somewhat glibly earlier in this thread, to report or not to report. But the passive tolerance of the outcome, as if this is in some way just a normal day in thailand and we're all in some kind of legal-rational framework here is remarkable.

The thread about the dude 'on the run' was brilliant. This is a guy that seems to be committed to HELPING people, being summarily ordered to some kind of 're-education' discussion/detainment, and the coup cheerleaders trumpet their wet brained triumphalism that hes gonna get whats coming to him then! Whats coming to him? Extra funding for the GOOD he seems to be doing for rural people in his country?

Then there was the whole 'but the senate's safe! so its still a beautiful day in thailand!' nonsense from the past three days. Fast forward to yesterday and the tune changes again...

Yay! hes clearing all the weeds out! Brilliant stuff.

Im flabbergasted, i really am, at the complacency of the expat community. Its one thing to stay neutral and not interfere and recognise that ultimately youre a guest in this country. Its quite another to actively cheer on the usurpation of power and the arbitrary detention of Thai citizens who have done nothing wrong. Well, we'll see if youre all posting stupid videos like 'nowhere to run' in a few weeks time.

    Resistance is inutil.

  5. Just got off phone with GF in Isaan. Anyone wanting to travel outside village, say to Sisaket, Ubon, Bangkok, must go to village authority to get written permission for travel.

I've just come back from Udon and Wang Saphung and that's clearly not the case

  6. It's quite simple.

Let them strike and piss off even more people. They will all know it's down to Suthep yet again!

How very simplistic a statement and you managed to fit an expletive and some anger into it. Congratulations.

If the railways, electricity generation, waterworks, expressways etc. Stop working then it will be a major issue for Thailand. Tourism, industry, agriculture, getting food on your table, water in your cup and shower etc. Are all distinct possibilities.

Whether the caretaker government could resist for long is something I doubt.

  7. Is the remaining government doing anything other than saying no to any 3rd party proposals?

A caretaker government has restricted powers of spending.

As you very well know, the Election Commission forbids the caretaker government from disbursing emergency funds as its opinion is that this could influence voter intentions.

That does not prevent the remaining officials from asking for emergency funds. But then again they did so several years ago, were awarded 350 billion then did bugger all with it.

  8. Looks like it's all over for the mad little evil lunatic. Oh wait he will probably plan another final push if he loses this final push. Be a man of your word you little turd and call it quits, give the country back and bugger off for good. There is a nice cell waiting for you and should be home for the next 20 yrs.

    Suthep has already won.

He is merely removing the people from harm's way before the final axe from the constitutional court and the senate takes its final swing.

The reds will rise up and be blown away by the army as they march on Bangkok 2010 fashion with no PDRC to confront, they only have the army and violence.

They will be crushed and the UDD will be no more.

If you can't see that, then you are as blind as can be.

Unless of course you have 'contacts' behind all the closed doors that have told you otherwise.

Suthep is not just going to walk away and let the UDD/REDS/CAPO claim victory and neither will he let down all the people who supported the movement for the past 7 months, and he is especially NOT going to suffer the biggest face loss in Thai political history when the job is 90% complete.

But you lot who support the Thaksin regime can cling to your own delusions that Suthep has failed and enjoy the last 2 weeks of your god's power in Thai politics.

He who laughs last, laughs longest.

There will be no civil war. The best either side could muster would be around 2,000 hard core supporters.

The idea of a people's republic is also a non-runner. There's a band on the east and west sides of the north that are not PT and I'm sure that if push came to shove, the people in the middle would not have the majority

  9. Jatuporn isn't the first one to propose this way out of the impasse, it certainly has its merits, however it will be carried out just like an election , which will result in vote bribing , threats , intimidation and physical harm on voters who do not tow the line with village chiefs and certain community leaders , slippery ,slimy , cunning these PTP, always a alternative motive, not everyone is fooled.bah.gif .

Why is it thatt the Protester and their supporters beleive that only the PTP are involved in Vote Buying, Intimidation and such...

I have lived in Isaan for the past 12+ years and trust me, prior to each election Representatives for almost all parties are going around to the villages and offer money, gifts and various incentives for Votes... The vast majority of the voters just take whatever is offered from whomever is offering and then vote the way they want anyway... It is the way of life in Thailand and the Democrats are just a guilty as all the rest... The main reason that the PTP comes out ahead is that they actually do something for the people, or in some cases they try to do something for the people...

    Pianoman

It probably only seems that way because only those that are anti Thaksin complain about it

  10. The referendum would need to make clear how the appointment would be made.

    Selection by Suthep? No way.

    Selection by vote? OK

    Good.

However, how will it ensure corrupt, inept, nepotistic parties prepared to use militias to intimidate their opponents and the judiciary in order to achieve their illegitimate aims are kept out of power or are at least obliged to obey the law?

In effect how will it ensure democratic rule, let's not forget elections are an aspect of democracy, not the thing itself.

Its clear that the NACC should be bigger and better funded and should have a team dedicated to government employees that can act quickly.

Ban nepotism, cronyism and conflict of interest. NACC to review every appointment at senior level civil service upwards.

MPs with any evidence against them should be banned from politics until the investigation has been completed. At the same time, their assets are frozen apart from daily expenditure.

Ban political families from having more than one member at a time.

    Ban the colour groups.

  11. The constitution needs to be amended the right way and all senators and governors must be elected not having someone pick who going to be your voice about matters of state. Free and fair elections need to be held now and reform of people rights to vote for their choice to represent them not some elite academic who doesn't not represent your feeling.

Yes indeed. Thailand should be firmly told what to do by a farang poster named after a fruit
