I sent the wife to get mine last month, rang up to check it was OK first, they weren't bothered at all, even asked for the reference number so they could confirm it was ready before she attended.
Ring them up and ask.

So why don't they get legal, get a proper visa and pay their taxes here?
For exactly the reason I alluded to in the first paragraph of the comment you quoted.
What's a "proper visa" anyway? And why are you assuming that they can't pay taxes without having a registered Thai business?
It's somewhat amusing that your vitriolic stance against people that happen to earn income online from abroad has managed to remain intact for at least the last six years. -

Delusion at it's best, billions of dollars from digital nomads.
If they made so much they could afford to setup a company and be legal.
Yeah, because people who are good at maximising income tend to seek out opportunities to throw their money and time away, don't they ????
Only takes 1000 people spending 85k a month to hit the first billion. Easily done, I know numerous people that hit the demographic in question spending triple that figure.- 1

It will be good for him. Learning about different culture, another language, he'll be better off than staying in cloistered local place.
No, it won't. He's 5, he's far too young to be removed from his parents and sent off to boarding school.
Hopefully the OP means they will all move and it will be a day school.- 2

Don't think anywhere sells them anymore. The new 16"s are good though, keyboard issue is fixed.

"director" is a nice generic term
Used it since my mid 20s and never even once had any second glance. -

you would'nt be in thailand if things were so great in your countries, would'nt you?
Thank you, Scott. I pride myself on taking reassurances regarding the intentions of political leaders from people that can't spell their own surname.- 2

It kinda takes two sides to have a confrontation. And these days, other than the government itself, there's not much pro-govt campaigning going on.
I would anticipate that the same thing as usually happens would occur. Some "civilians" would "take it upon themselves" to fight the good cause on their behalf out of the "goodness of their hearts".
On the official side, uncle crooner will appeal to the oldies to guilt trip their grandchildren into backing down, which unfortunately given the engrained deference to their elders, plenty of them will fall for.
That doesn't work, there's a trump card that gets rolled out, also with the intention of leveraging those deeply held traditions that get forced into people from about four years old. Though only time will tell if it has the same effect as it has in the past.- 4

Oh Hash Brown... how wrong you are. Made way more than my share of mistakes. Especially with women. Cost me almost everything. Regrets, now there's another story. But, I don't live in or dwell on the past. It's all part of the journey. Living a pretty modest life here in Nakon Nowhere. Positive outlook, good health & good friends. Maybe the suggestion might help others before it's too late. Why bother... Well, this is a forum. You know, banter, exchange of ideas, a bit of humour, maybe some sarcasm now & then.
I guess with 40 posts so far, you'll eventually get the hang of it.
Great post, but I couldn't help but notice that you have a reputation:posts ratio of 0.8627:1

I fit the demographic, however came here in my 20s.
The place ain't what it used to be. The negatives were palatable when it was really cheap, but on balance whilst it would probably be fine on half the sum I wouldn't want to be spending a couple of grand a month whilst putting up with garbage, soi dogs, increasingly onerous immigration rules, bad air quality, stupidly dangerous roads, volatile politics, etc etc when I could just move to plenty of other places where I can live for the same, with similar positives (climate) and many less negatives.
If I weren't married with kids here there's no chance I'd be here now - indeed we may well all move away in the next few years, the primary blocker being unsettling the kids at school and my wife's familiarity with Thailand. Placing myself in the shoes of a pending retiree with enough income to live nicely here these days, there are plenty of places I'd prefer to be on a similar budget - most of southern Europe for one.- 16

I once had an Otto kettle, left it plugged in when not in use. Came home one day to find it had melted all over the worktop.
I'd buy a different brand if I were you! -
Thailand is not a good plan at present on your budget, and with your visa plans. The baht is very strong, you'd essentially have enough money for rent and electric and nothing else. Also they are really cracking down on usage of tourist visas for long term stays, you'll struggle to drag it out beyond 6 months max, and you would have to travel out of the country at least once.
I suspect the posts you are reading are from a couple of years back when the baht was weaker and visas were easier.
Go to Bali - much cheaper right now, and an enormous digital nomad community!- 2

Edit - i'm mistaken, it's not actual fingerprint data that's being sold on the dark web. Yet.
Only a matter of time though... that combined with ID would be very useful to nefarious types https://www.vice.com/en_us/article/yp3nzb/i-replaced-my-fingerprints-with-prosthetics-to-avoid-surveillance- 1

Given their form, I wouldn't personally consider the Thai Immigration department a great custodian.

try complaining, first thing the police will do is check your passport and visa and start quizzing you......
Or worse, like tell the organisers who complained.

Your wife can get a Khor Ror 3 at any Amphur for around 20 baht by presenting her ID card and blue book. Immigration want an up to date version to confirm you are still married, so the original would be of no use. It's in Thai, so no need to get it translated for the purpose of an extension.

And that he killed a dog meant that he could equally easily have killed a child.
Try engaging your brain before spouting nonsense.
That is an utterly ridiculous statement.
Firstly the dog could have never been in eyeshot if it ran out from a drive directly under the vehicle.
Secondly, if everybody drove slow enough to be able to stop in case an animal ran out from a drive onto the road, we'd be driving in any built up area at less than 10km an hour. https://www.random-science-tools.com/physics/stopping-distance.htm
Follow your own advice.

Perhaps as a direct employee, but not as a consultant. I contracted remotely for many years for numerous large US entities including Microsoft and never once did this kind of clause exist (I wouldn't have accepted it). Pretty much the only limitation is not being an Iranian or North Korean entity.
Can be done either as a C2C contract with a company *anywhere* (I used HK) you own as a supplier and you personally as a named consultant supplied by that company, or simply directly as an individual (often they want you to file a W8-BEN form to cover the non application of withholding tax).
I doubt it's the case as an employee either - I know personally a number of individuals that currently work as direct US employees for FANG companies (and many other tech companies) and who work 100% remotely with constant travel and with full transparency to their employer without issue. It's very, very common these days.- 3
