  1. I fish lures nowadays more than I fish at BSR, but everyone needs to fish BSR once.

Lure fishing here is not much different than it is anywhere in the world where you can fish in a fish farm.

I don't know anywhere else you're pretty much assured of catching a 40+ Lb fish any day, and probably more, up to 70-100 Lb. That makes Mekong Catfishing an experience unique to Thailand, and BSR is the most famous example. (Most famous based on my random sampling of Jeremy Wade, Robson Greene and "Fishing with John" videos)

You are definitely right, especially about the Mekong. I can imagine that it will be a unique experience and i really want to live that.

But on the other hand, i also have a chance to fight with some "dream of every angler" predators like Arapaima, Giant Snakehead, Barramundi etc.

And i have only one day to fish in Bangkok. sad.png

So i need to make a decision and if it will be a day on my own, i maybe choose lure fishing and go for predators, as i don't have a chance to catch them in anywhere else either.

    Not sure, really.

  2. You can forget about the last off topic question. I've found the answer.

Thank you all for your great advices. I will definitely hit some of those shops. thumbsup.gif

Any "fishing request" for 12th April will be great! I'll be waiting for that. wink.png

By the way, if nobody wants to join me until that week, probably i will skip to fish in BSR and maybe spend that day on lure fishing, I will make an alternative plan for somewhere like IT Lake, Boon Mar or Pilot 111. Because of i'm more interested and experienced on lure fishing.

    Happy Fishing fellas. smile.png

  3. If money is really tight, I'd skip the bungalow and fish from the main walkway.

Plus if you do fish from the bungalows you really do need a guide, all the big fish will head for the bungalows, once underneath the fish will be almost impossible to land, the guide will go under to release!!

Thank you guys, great advices. thumbsup.gif I will definitely need that.

Yeah i heard that i do need a local guide on bungalows, for that reason. So as you said, i can skip the bungalow option maybe. smile.png

The walkways are great, there's always lots of action going on, and everybody is really friendly.

Also, when you have finalised the date you are going, why don't you post it here? Maybe one of the readers will invite you to join them? smile.png

You know what, that would be absolutely great!! smile.png

    12th April, Friday.

It seems like it's the day i can go there right now.

Any local help will be highly appreciated. smile.png

By the way, i need to mention that i'm not a novice angler and always a great fishing buddy. biggrin.png

  4. Thanks a lot to all of you for your great help fellas. smile.png

I've noted all of these places. thumbsup.gif

But one question, in these shops, can i find someone who talks at least a little english? sad.png B'cuz it seems like very local shops to me. Yes i want to find local (which means cheaperwink.png) tackle shops with wide range of quality equipments. But language might be a problem, don't you think? sad.png

  5. Why is it going to cost you 4500 bht? If you have a Thai driving licence or work permit you will only pay 400 bht for a days fishing, obviously more if you do not have your own gear!

I will be coming from Europe and it will be my first time in Thailand. So I don't have neither work permit nor Thai driving license. smile.png

    2.000 Bht just for entry

    800 for bungalow

1.000 for a guide (Because this is my first time in BSR)

600 for equipment (I'm hesitating to bring my own equipment from here to there, just for a one day of fishing)

    250 for baits

    +____

    4.650 THB

    Unfortunately. sad.png

  6. Dogpoo, can you share the location of your fishing spot and the charges? I too had stopped fishing at Phuket Fishing Park since years ago. Thks

    +1

I will be in Phuket next month for a few days, and that would be reaally nice to find somewhere to fish with reasonable prices.

Do you guys recommend a place like that?

  7. BSR would be the best place to buy new equipment!

    Bung Samran! Really?

I thought the prices there will be a bit higher, as a tourist attraction center.

But if its cheap and the selection range is wide, its great then! I was already planning to visit there.

I heard about Nawamin road, they say some nice tackleshops out there too. But if you recommend only BSR, ok then.

    Thank you buddy.

Yes there will be slightly cheaper places but BSR has everything in the one shop, less hassle and again everything you need at arms length!!

Fishing Go in rangsit is a much cheaper option than bsr...they also have most of the high end gear.

Thank you guys. I'm really happy for your advices. smile.png

In fact, if there's a wide range of well-known brands and cheaper prices, i would definitely love to know where. rolleyes.gif

Fishing Go in Rangsit, I've found the address and took a map print right now thumbsup.gif Thanks a lot buddy.

Any other advices will be highly appreciated. wai.gif

  8. BSR has a very wide selection, with lots of international names which you will be familiar with.

You will almost certainly be able to get everything you need in one place there.

However, they are more expensive than most of the other smaller places, which also usually do not have such a big selection of brand name items.

Just as an example, I recently bought a Shimano Baitrunner D from a local tackle shop in On-Nut for 5,300, compared to 6,100 on the BSR web site. No inconvenience for me though, as I live close to On-Nut and go to BSR regularly, so its easy to check and compare.

    Thanks a lot.

Yes i need to find those brands with the lowest possible prices. rolleyes.gif

Your Shimano Baitrunner D is 8000D, 12000D or what?

I mean, its because that i want to compare the price difference between Europe and Bangkok.

Hope you land the biggest ones with your new stuff by the way. thumbsup.gif

    Thanks again.
