I have just heard from close thai friends with kids starting university who a little while ago bought a Mercedes SUV and just bought their new licence plate for 100k baht. That is one hundred thousand baht. So around $330 US. This they say is all for good luck.... a cultural and religious thing. So between the PM and his usual jibber jabber and this idea that numerology works and spending money on a license plate rather than on what children's education.... right on! Good plan. Good play. The mindlessness is astounding

To cancel the Thai Pass would remove the control that is being maintained on the country. While businesses and families are going broke and struggling to make payments and keeping food on the table... the 1% are getting richer. This is a control issue. Allow only the wealthy (though why anyone with the $2 million would bury it here in this country or have the need to is beyond stupid). Yet, it only goes to prove that common sense is non-existent.
