  1. There was a book written by a French explorer in Laos in the 19th century. He was seeking a passage through the mountains to Vietnam, which was not called Vietnam in those days.

At every village, he got the same answer, bor mee, bor dai, bor hoo jak.

I can't remember the name of the book but it was a good read.

    Plus ca change....

come to my house[wife's] its BOR E DA

    Bor mee - บ่มี - not have

    Bor dai - บ่ได้ - can't have

Bor jak- บ่ยาก - not difficult

Come to my house - มาบานข่อย - ma ban koi

  2. Must be a joke, if not it open the last year. There was a small landingspot many, many years ago. Don't remember where.

Kud nam kin is a small public park where you can go for a walk, drink coffee, or have a beer. Definitely not an airport.

But what do I now, writing from the other side of the world. Better waiting for some advice from the locals.

  3. Some being clever some not so much,

Sorry, it was my misunderstanding, I saw the word 'Mahlahgaw' and it honestly didn't register as I have never heard any of the locals here use it.

    Is this a regional thing?

    hi

If you stay in Issan the word for green papaya can be BakHong. And the word for Papayasallad (SomTham) can be ThamBakHong.(Issanlao)

  4. In order to stay on topic we should start discussing the ingredients and various cooking methods to make a decent, home made Phanaeng curry.

Lets us get back to the topic then.

OP, phanaeng is very simple and easy to make, the main ingredients are curry paste, coconut milk, meat and vegetables of your choice, they are accessible throughout Thai market places.

Sent from my iPhone using Thaivisa Connect Thailand

Yes, Phanaeng is simple and easy to make. I think the order you add the ingridients are essential. Start with currypaste and meat. Not to much oil, make it greasy. and last the coconut milk to take down the spice.
