It's not impossible - just absolute nonsense..... but it's looking more like I will have to go through with it.

Haha - I am actually a self employed software developer and my income comes from mainly the US and Australia. The farm belongs to my wife...... and it's a black hole where all my hard earned income goes ????

I guess your wife and family work hard on the farm, so why be so mean to her? And if you don't  like it, go, instead of whining about her

Agreed. I don't like the idea of the government knowing where and how I spend my money. I prefer to pay cash whenever possible. If they go to a cashless society, then like the internet, they can just throw a switch and turn it off, meaning you have no money. Same for the 'cloud'; I don't trust it. I prefer to keep my information/data on my own computer, especially in light of the near-constant 'data breaches' which expose hundreds of millions of people's personal information.

Or like in britain, the power grid crashes coz they closed all the coal based plants

I just updated my motorcycle registration by changing the nationality and ID number to conform with my ID card at the Land Transport Department without any problems. However, when I went to the local Revenue Department Office to update my tax payers ID card to be the same as my ID card number, they said that I could not do it and that I should continue using my current tax payer's ID. They were adamant about this. Go figure!!!!!

So, the same in UK and most countries. Different departments, different numbers. That reduces oversight and you should be thankful

It has nothing to do with bringing capital in and why is it a "scummy move" for Thai Immigration to say that the income needs verifying? Or are you saying that the US embassy are being scummy because you want them to perform a job/duty that they are totally incapable of doing?

The British government requires 3 MILLION baht for a long stay visa, so I guess the Thais are saying, what's sauce for the goose, is sauce for the gander. So suck it up and put the small amount of money in
