  1. Finally a quality response :o

    Hi,

-How many hours is by Fast train and bus from BKK? generaly which

Its a loooong train ride up there from bkk but you get to see some great scenery

Much better than a bus i think.

my gf and i took the plane from cm to phuket when we left. i think thats

the best way as you don't want to see the same scenery twice.

if you like mountains then check out Doi inthanon park

    http://www.1stopchiangmai.com/what_to_see/...g/doi_inthanon/

  2. for me the initial attraction is very chinese eyes with glasses. no glamour...

dare i say nerd girl? body is secondary.

this attraction for me comes from way back in junior high school. my best friend

was a nerdy chinese girl. not sexy/attractive at all to every other guy but to me she was a goddess.

  3. According to an article in yesterday's Nation more than 1,600 Chiang Mai residents were tested for toxins in the blood and 95% were found to have dangerously high concentrations.  What toxins exactly wasn't mentioned but more than likely herbicides and heavy metals. Anyone feel like a blood test? I wonder how many years it takes staying here to build up to a typical Thai person's blood toxin level?

In the same article it was stated that nearly all pork sold contains high levels of the salmonella virus as a result of the lax slaughtering process where faeces and meat are allowed to come in contact.

anyone got stats on cancer, birth defect rates?

  4. I do not believe that a convicted felon can get a US passport, unless you have had your record expunged. Doable, especially if you have some connections or influence. Clean record for some years etc. This would be the first thing that I looked into.

    from the website:

    http://www.uspassportvisaguide.com/us_passport_faq.htm

reasons for not issuing us passports are:

    1. Outstanding child support 2. Outstanding Felony/Criminal Warrant (Not including Civil infractions or parking tickets) Prior Felony Conviction that prohibits international travel

  5. An old man was on the beach in pattaya. He walks up to a beautiful girl in a bikini - "I want to feel your breasts" he exclaimed.

"Get away from me, you crazy old man" she replied.

"I want to feel your breasts, I will give you one hundred baht," he says.

"one thousand baht, are you nuts!? Get away from me!"

"I want to feel your breasts, I will give you TEN THOUSAND BAHT" he stated.

    "NO! Get away from me!"

    "TWENTY THOUSAND BAHT" he offered.

She paused to think about it, but then comes to her senses and says, "I said NO!"

"THIRTY THOUSAND BAHT if you let me feel your breasts," he exclaimed.

She thought, well he is old, and he seems harmless enough... and 30K baht IS a lot of money... "Well, OK... but only for a minute."

She loosened her bikini top and while both are standing there on the beach, he slid his hands underneath and began to feel... then he started saying, "OH MY GOD... OH MY GOD... OH MY GOD..." while he was caressing them.

Out of curiosity, she asked him, "Why do you keep saying, 'Oh my god, oh my god'?"

While continuing to feel her breasts he answered, "OH MY GOD... OH MY GOD... OH MY GOD... OH MY GOD, where am I ever going to get thirty thousand baht?"

  6. if the heat and air quality of thailand compounds their current health problems

ide say no don't bring them. to get the best available healthcare you would need to

    be close to bangkok right?

for health insurance, i think the age cutoff

for bupa is 70. there may be other insurance companies willing to take someone over

70 but its going to be pricey.

i dont know what state they live in but i do know in california they have a program

that allows them to stay in their house and someone comes daily to do housecleaning and cooks meals, takes them to the doctor. they even pay relatives to do this work.

there are lots of assisted living arrangements available to them depending on the state.

there are ways of hiding money from the govt. try it, what have you got to lose?

they dont throw 82 yr olds in prison

  7. I was bored today so i test drove a new software package i just bought called pro show gold. its a professional grade photo publishing package (expensive) so....i took a bunch of commercial high resolution photos i had of thailand and made a slideshow with it. most were taken down around phuket and phi phi. those beaches are gorgeous!

its a pretty big file 12 mb so its only for those with broadband. pro show gold creates an exe file which is a stand alone picture viewer with a soundtrack. nothing is installed on or needs to be installed to view this slideshow.

i could have generated an avi movie but the resolution was really crappy and not

    worth the time.

so those of you that havent visited the beaches in the south, you can get a sample of what you're missing!

    slideshow here

  8. I've been trying to find a gas fridge for ages here in Thailand. Do you where Phibun?

whereever I ask they look at me as if I'm coming from Mars. "Gas is to heat not to freeze !"  :o

Sorry, I haven't seen them here...

yea pretty much everyone says that. only ones that know are the rv and off the

grid people. the problem i had with propane fridges is that they really heat up a house

Its great in winter but in summer its not good. I had an old servel from the 50's which

guzzled the propane. another negative is the carbon monoxide it gave off. some of the newer ones have a vent for venting gasses to the outside. i believe sunfrost sells just the compressor or kits, can't remember, but you can install it in the cabinet of your liking. shipping a compressor to thailand is a possiblility.

there was a good discussion on photovoltaics a while back if thats what you're looking for. do a search on photovoltaics and it should come up

  9. but have not come across anything like "Best Buy", "Circuit City", "Fry';s Electronics" or anything that would sell this kind of stuff at a good price

oh man fry's is the best. you're spoiled indeed. love those 200$ taiwan special computers they sell up at the one in las vegas. i remember the grand opening

the traffic going into the store was so bad they had cops redirecting traffic on the

vegas strip because the casino traffic was at a standstill.

i too was really let down when i went into an electronics store in bkk.

i needed a wireless router and thought i could get a cheap asian knockoff.

WRONG.. all that store had was expensive ones from california.

whats the import duty % on electronics to thailand?

  10. "lower benzene consumption in Thailand by 100%[/b]"

    LOL that some creative math...

The real problem with this idea is the expense of converting/mfg'ing cars to run

on nat gas and their filling stations.

the best solution would be a gas to liquids refinery. yes, they can make really clean diesel from nat gas. im kicking myself for selling shares in a startup gas to liquids company here in the states. the stock has doubled in just 1 year. the big oil co's are getting into the action and hopefully the technology will be used worldwide SOON.

synm is the symbol on the nasdaq if anyone wants to take a look

i believe the technology was developed because there are many smaller nat gas fields that are far away from supply pipelines so its not worth it to extract.

  11. my girlfriend and i stayed at a bungalow in kata noi that was real cheap. it was right at the end of the road in kata noi. no beach view but you just a couple minutes walk to

the beach. your tastes sound a little richer (3-4 star) than mine so ide recommend the kata thani that was right next door to our place.

i found kata noi to be a real gem after staying just 1 night in noisy chaotic

patong. got woken up at all hours of the night by drunken algerians yelling in the

    hallway.
