Get a FOREIGN CEO for BOTH Thai Airways and AOT. There are currently no Thais with the experience in raising the standards in this area. After a few years, standards will be up and Thais can take over. That was Singapore's success formula. Always go for the best, regardless of nationality.

Until arrests AND convictions are made of police officers involved in this disgusting trade or protecting human traffickers, it should not be taken seriously and Thailand should remain a bottom tier and severe sanctions imposed. Foreigners are not stupid. They can't fool us. We build iPhones, land people on the moon and created every modern technology used in the world today. We will not be fooled by sham reforms. Real reforms and punishments of the people, companies and institutions involved in human trafficking, otherwise all these efforts can't be taken seriously.

If they want to do everything the "Thai" way, they can copy north korea's successful recipe for isolation. If they want to be part of the international community they need to follow international standards, and that can only be done copying foreign procedures and involving skilled foreigners where lacking.

Dear General/PM, I have 42 years Airline/Aircraft Maintenance Experience and have associates with Flight Operation and Regulatory Compliance and are able to help with this crisis.
Let me know !!
If you are not Thai your contribution is not wanted. Thai pride is taking the nation to the bottom of the ASEAN barrel. In 20 years Thais will be working as gardeners and factory workers in Myanmar and Philippines. That's Thailand is heading. The country needs help, but refuses on all fronts.

General P would have generated a lot more respect and credibility internationally if he had admitted the shortcomings and problems Thailand has in this area. Now he comes across like a man about to sweep the facts under the carpet.

Jarl....or Oakham Citra.
I did go through a period of drinking it once just like carling, fosters, Heineken, Stella etc but there are some great beers out there and I'm still on the quest to find the best of the best
Well you beat me to it. You should have waited. My answer:I'm just waiting for someone to say " America - Budweiser " lol
The US, of course. Budweiser is the number one selling beer in the world. That makes it the best by US standards. Nobody can dispute it.
Just brought back some Oakham beers from Hong Kong. Fantastic!!!
Best beer is found in UK and US, but there are some amazing craft beers
Being brewed in Japan and Norway as well.

A new Thai constitution being drafted by the ruling junta is a throwback to an era when a royalist and military elite had a stranglehold on politics, analysts and politicians say, warning of dire consequences for democracy.
To all the junta lovers/ anti election posters here, please read the above twice and reconsider your support to the Thai elite!!
Your are supporting people and a system belonging in a long gone century!!
And cut your "but Yingluck" BS.
They are probably married into the Bangkok elite, and would love to welcome a new "golden" era...

Terrible policy! Goes to show that the government only cares about the rich elite. I guess many of the rich men in Thailand are old now, so it's about time to slash the inheritance tax.
-
Disappointing behavior.

Very good! These are heinous crimes and the perpetrators should be put to death. The new government is fulfilling step one, which is legislation. Will they deliver on step two, which is prosecution? If the influential Thais involved in human trafficking are caught and given harsh sentences, then I will believe.

Why don't the Thai police issue a request to Singapore for the arrest of Thaksin? He is a fugitive and they know where he is. That's the normal procedure. Why don't they demand his extradition?

Talk is cheap. The public has seen the Red Bull "justice" and that's all they need to know....

Villa Market now has a huge selection of British beers. Some real gems among them.

None of these "lads" have jobs?

Democracy worked so well in Iraq and Libya. What's wrong with the one size fist all concept?

He was an incredible man. I had the privilege to meet him once, when he was 84. Amazingly sharp with an incredible memory. Singapore owes everything to this man, even though the young spoilt brats growing up in Singapore today have no idea about their grandparents struggles.

They should put the naked photos of these disgusting pheadofiles on the front pages of the newspapers with names and addresses. They should be named and shamed AND locked up for good.

Where is the real criminal, the employer. What a total joke that police force is. This is why Thailand should remain in the bottom tier when it comes to human trafficking. The victims of trafficking are arrested, while the slave traders and slave owners walk free so that they can do it again and again. Disgusting!

Make an exemption for the poor. Can easily be implemented. Tax the rich because they can take it.

I am assuming in this case the photographer is supposedly living and working in Phuket and didn't just come over with the wedding party.
Can anyone tell me what the situation is for freelance photographers, lets say you do travel photography and you want to do a piece on Phuket for a magazine. You are not a Thai national. Can you come over for the assignment and do you get a work permit?
I am a professional photographer specializing in aerial photography and I have a work permit for it, the Chinese tend to bring their own photographers with them from China.
My problem is with photographers living here on tourist visas and working without a work permit, it is seriously affecting my business.
...and you are fluent in Chinese and understand the way the chinese like their photos?

The woman, who left two children back in Thailand, told the inspector, I like Japan. But I guess I wont be able to come anymore.
At least until she's bought her new ID card under a different name and got a new passport.
....and was detained again as her fingerprints was taken during the first arrest...

I agree and he has the chance NOW. If he delivers results and makes Thailand a better place for ALL Thais, he will have the support of all Thais AND by western countries obsessed with democracy. If he chose to do like previous thai prime ministers and junta leaders, to serve only the Bangkok elite and military, and thus neglecting the rest of the Thai people, then he is in for a rough ride with pressure from within and outside.
But let him have the chance now. Thailand didn't need more democracy, but an HONEST and CAPABLE man who has the military backing to force unpopular but necessary reforms and to confront members of the elite.
So far the score is B-. Not bad, but he needs to step up the game. He has the chance of becoming a true Thai hero if he succeeds.

How many of these fugitive fraudsters and boiler room guys are hiding in Thailand, pretending to be successful businessmen and contributors to TV?

They need to fire all police officers, and then hire back some of them after sitting for new exams, personality tests and background checks. Fill up the remaining with motivated soldiers and new police recruits. Make sure that all entry tests are vetted by independent bodies, and not by the police. The same goes for promotions. And finally, NEW UNIFORMS!!!
